Hm...my thinking now is that my tiefling would probably just think of himself as a guy, and mistakenly believe all dudes had plumbing like he does.

Reminds me of a news story I read about the rare cases in certain repressive cultures where men find out on their wedding nights that their bride has boy parts, and because of the absolute lack of sexual education given to women, *has no idea that he's not a woman.*

In such cultures, the 'pervert' is generally then stoned to death, despite the fact that it's not his fault that he was misidentified at birth, raised as a girl, and grew up in a backwards part of the world that doesn't bother teaching it's girls enough about their sexuality to know that they are supposed to have 'innies' and not 'outies.'

Talk about sexual confusion!

I felt an impending nerdgasm that the Complete Book of Elves could so magically rekindle the elven race. Imagine my disappointment. I actually stopped playing elves because of that book. Gah.

Check out Paradigm Concept's alternative "Eldest Sons". You'll start playing them again. :)

Our group has just made the change from 3.5 to Pathfinder and we're about to start one of the adventure paths, Rise of the Runelords. We're all really happy with the new system and are very keen to start playing.

We recently got a player, who was long term but went overseas for a year, to come back to the group. He is a decent player but is insisting on playing a female character. This does not sit well with the rest of our group who are all male.

My problem is I took a lot of time to convince him to join our group and now the rest of the group are grumbling about him. So, I have to come up with a way to get every one focused on the game rather than his character.

Has anyone dealt with a situation like this before? Has anyone had experiences with males who primarily play females? Do males playing females always mean trouble? Anyone ever encountered a good example of this?

Sorry for all the questions, but I am trying to find a solution to this problem.

I really don't understand what the issue is. Personally, I think guys who like to play female characters perhaps just like to make their characters more fun to play. Perhaps it's more fun for them to play female because they feel like it fits their class or background better or the type of background they are able to create?

The real question is...Are they playing the female characters well? Or are they making them total hoes? I used to have someone in my group that would play females and they were always total hoes...but then again there are guys like Rob McCreary (works for Paizo) and he plays female characters often but he plays them REALLY well so nobody cares. I don't play male characters but if my character was a better fit as a male then I'd play a male.

It really shouldn't matter at all... Iknow that you're wanting to keep your group happy but if this fella plays his female characters well then tell the group to give him a chance. Sounds like it is more an issue that needs to be discussed with the group rather than the guy who plays the female characters. I mean, think about it...we're playing wizards and fighters who KILL others...we're not exactly playing in reality here so people should be able to play opposite sex characters! :o)

Being a female gamer, I do not mind when guys play females unless they play them poorly. But I don't like it when people play any character poorly...Hope you get this cleared up! :o)
