Translating Psionic Disciplines to Schools of Magic.

It occured to me that I should put my money where my mouth is, and actually homebrew a list of psionic powers as wizard spells. Since me and VV say you can make a wizard using the psion, this will be a handy exercise for us and anyone else who might wish to play such a character.

Firstly, the disciplines.

Clairsentience - Divination

Metacreativity - Conjuration

Psychokinesis - Evocation

Psychometabolism - Transmutation

Psychoportation - Some Transmutation, some Conjuration.

Telepathy - Enchantment

Obviously not everything in them fits. And there are the general powers that have no associated discipline. Examining each and assigning a school will take time, and I have work before too long, so I will pick it up later. Of course, an individual playing such a character would only have to do this for the powers he took, which would be a much smaller list. But I intend for this to be helpful to everyone, and cut down on the workload. Anyone with ideas to share is welcome to. I shall return.

Where would Illusion and Abjuration be on that list? Necromancy just isn't psionic really.

Yeah, we're not transfering the school to disciplines, we're doing the opposite. So of course if there are no necromancy-style psion powers, there won't be any discipline that applies to necromancy.

From what I can tell the illusion-type powers are in Telepathy.

Illusion and Necromancy are not really represented so far. Some people might say 'but the schools aren't balanced!'. Well of COURSE they aren't, these are just descriptor tags for the powers. Psion powers weren't written with the wizard schools in mind.

All of the above powers are general psion powers. All I am doing is making it so you know what school the power registers as on an enemy's Detect Magic or Spellcraft check.

That being said, is there anything besides school that a Spellcraft check would need? I think this really is all you would need to do to powers to be able to play a psion as a wizard. Am I missing anything?

Seems like a bit of a forced fit, but not unreasonable. I'd allow it.

How is it forced exactly Kirth? Some of them are eyeballed yes, due to not having many comparable spells. But things like Fly and Grease are easy.
