Personally, I really liked the 3ed Character generator CD that came with the 3ed PHB, and either DRAGON or DUNGEON. Sure it had some glitches, but I liked it.
What I am wondering now is: Is there a 3.5 character generator that can be released like the 3ed one was?
If not, What online/downloadable 3.5 character generation programs do people suggest?
I'm looking for something that is easy to use, and self-explanitory, as well as accurate when it comes to feat, skill, equipment calculations.
Thoughts?

one word: PCgen
take a look at this link. there's a download link halfway down the page. There's a help file and pretty extensive manual included in the zip file.
It looks a bit intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of it, you'll have PC's and monsters created in no time at all.
Good luck!

Is there a way in PCGen to handle scrolls, magic weapons, etc? I know they've got a default list in the data files, but what if you've got something a little out of the ordinary?
Actually, for that matter, I don't remember seeing a +1 morningstar in the magic weapon list. Maybe I'm hallucinating. I'm just asking because my character in my current campaign is using a +1 morningstar and I keep having to remember to add 1 to the attack roll.
There's also another bug where if you add your bonus attribute point to your INT, your skill points don't go up that level. Again, I just ran into that one. :(
Overall, though, it's a fantastic program. Even with the little glitches, it's extremely handy and I highly recommend it. :-)

The 3.0 character creator was a great resource. I've used that program so much, it's almost insane (great for when ur bored and you want to just play around and make diff chars too).
"Click the checkbox to turn off my annoying voice..."
I'll have to check out PCGen. I hope it stands up to the other one. (altho, those glitches that otter said sound a little tedious to fix. They weren't very drastic in the 3.o gen)

Actually, that's pretty easy. Just go to inventory, select the base item (a morningstar in your case) rightclick on the item and click on create custom item (or just pres alt+c). You should be able to create a +1 flaming morningstar, or whatever else you want.
When you're done, doubleclick the item to buy it.Overall, though, it's a fantastic program. Even with the little glitches, it's extremely handy and I highly recommend it. :-)

Hmm, maybe I should start reading the documentation. :-)

Holy Cr@p PCGen is daunting to start with. I used it with just the RSRD. I can't imagine the complexity of adding in all the other 3rd party resources. It has everything. I just wish it had a drag and drop interface like the 3ed character generator. That one is still the best interface I've seen. I liked the built in point buy, and roll vs just the enter the stat scores.
I guess I tend to rely almost entirely on WotC products for character creation...To many of the 3ed party races and classes tend to be to wierd, or unballenced for my games.
I also tried the one mentioned by Evilash. It was much much easier to use, but lacked the equipment feature.
Either will do, but I'll probably use the PCGen because of the Equipment issue. Still...I really liked the 3ed WotC character generator and a 3.5 one included in DUNGEON (wishfull thinking, but it is the holiday season when some wishes come true) would be the greatest!

That's kind of the problem with all open source projects: Crappy interfaces. They pool all the functions near the front end of the interface. Still, it's worthwhile getting the hang of the program. You'll be amazed at the flexibility it has to offer.
