Just curious if anyone as a list of all Pathfinder deities to Forgotten Realms Pantheon list? Or whom its suggested might be swapped in for certain deities?

My group plays in Forgotten Realms, but we are now using Pathfinder products, but love a list of the closest forgoteen realms god the pathfinder ones would be.

The problem with such conversions is that there are often no direct pendants between the deities, since the "roles" in the pantheons aren't distributed in the same way. And not only that, but the Forgotten Realms have a quite a lot of deities, spread over several pantheons (a few regional ones and racial pantheons for all major races.)

But here are my musings:

  • Abadar: Waukeen is a close fit as goddess of commerce, though Waukeen is N while Abadar is LN.

    Abadar is also god of law and of cities, and these aspects don't really have a direct pendant in the Faurûnian Pantheon. Tyr as god of justice might be somewhere near, but Abadar is more about the law, not exactly Justice.

  • Asmodeus: The Realms have Asmodeus as lord of hell, but he's not a deity there. There is a Devil God, Gargauth the Tenth Lord of Nine, an exiled archdevil who ascended to divinity (which is a lot easier in the FR), and Bane is lord of Tyranny.

  • Calistria: Tough thing. She's the prime elven deity on Golarion, and as such would be the equivalent to Corellon Larethian, but Corellon isn't really anything like Calistria. Beyond that, the main concerns of Calistria as a member of the Core Pantheon are Lust, Trickery, Revenge.

    Lust would be Sharess, who is CG.

    There is no god of Trickery as such in the Faerûnian Pantheon (only gods of outright thievery and such), but the Elves have Erevan Ilesere and the gnomes have Garl Glittergold and others (though Garl is LG and more a prankster who tries to teach through pranks, or annoy evil with it). And the halflings have Brandobaris.

    Revenge is Hoar, who is LN, the direct opposite of Calistria's CN.

  • Cayden Cailean: Nothing compares to being drunk and waking up with divine power in addition to a hangover, of course. Finder Wyvernspur is an ascended mortal with a chaotic streak, that might be somewhere near.

    Lliira is goddess of freedom and festivals, which fits the Cayden Cailean's liberation aspect, and maybe the ale/wine part.

    If you want a god of bravery, the Realms' versions are usually the more stuffy lawful types (Torm might be a good fit)

  • Desna: Selûne is the moon goddess (well, the Faerûnian one, there is also Sehanine Moonbow of the elves, but let's stick to the "human" gods for the most part). The rest of the night skies are also part of her portfolio.

    However, as goddess of Luck, Desna can also be equaled to Tymora (and Beshaba, after a fashion - the Realms have a goddess of bad luck, after all, and Tymora is only goddess of good luck)

    Finally, there's Shaundakul, god of travel and exploration.

  • Erastil: Very hard to fix. NG Mielikki is goddess of rangers, but that doesn't quite fit the hunter's aspect. Malar is god of hunters, but Erastil and Malar couldn't be more different. You'll be very hard-pressed to find a proper LG hunter's aspect

    Chauntea is the goddess of agriculture and farmers, and also NG. NG Eldath is goddess of peace, something close to Erastil's concerns, too (war is for other people).

    The Faerûnian Pantheon doesn't have a real family deity I can think of. The dwarves have Berronar Truesilver, goddess of staying at home and making sandwiches, which might fit. Halflings have Cyrrollalee, goddess of home and friendship as well as double consonants.

    Trade the way Erastil embodies it isn't really present in the Faerûnian Pantheon. Waukeen is more about commerce. Erastil is closer to bartering and trading between farmers. The commercial stuff is Abadar's.

  • Gorum: Not too hard. Tempus is god of war. There's also Garagos, god of the frey, which might be a bit closer to Gorum's temperament.

  • Gozreh: The wind and the waves is a dualistic deity. Silvanus makes sense for his male aspect and part of her female aspect, but there's also the B#&@* Queen (actual title) Umberlee, goddess of the oceans, especially the vicious aspects.

    Talos the storm lord is god of violent weather, and on Golarion, Gozreh is the deity of all weather

  • Iomedae: Tyr is god of justice, Torm is god of loyalty (something close to Iomedae's heart, too).

    Also, there's Nobanion, god of royalty.

  • Irori: The Master of Masters is another tough fit. Oghma is the god of knowledge. Lathander is a bit of perfectionist, but his outlook is quite different from that of Irori. There aren't any Faerûnian deities that scream "monk" the way Irori does.

  • Lamashtu: If you want Madness, there's Cyric. For the monster aspect, there might be Malar. But neither are really like the Mother of Monsters.

  • Nethys: The insane deity of magic is also very unique in that he embodies both benign and malign magic. Main magic goddess in the Realms is Mytra, and the current one has overcome her unprofessional prejudice of evil magic, but she's still not a neutral deity like Nethys. She's NG, but keeps the priests following her predecessor, which as LN. So CE destroyers are still not welcome.

  • Norgorber: Norgorber has 4 aspects, each of which has different counterparts in the Realms:

    As the Reaper of Reputation, he's god of secrets. That's Shar.
    As the Gray Master, he's the god of greed and thieves. That's Mask.
    As Blackfingers, he's the god of poisons. That's Talona.
    And as Father Skinsaw, he's god of murder, which is Cyric.

  • Pharasma: This is relatively easy. Kelemvor is lord of the dead, and a professional (unlike his predecessors Myrkul and Cyric, who were all about undead and all that).

    But Pharasma is also the goddess of fate, and in the Realms, Savras the seer holds that portfolio. He's also a god of seers, so the prophecy part can be credited to him, as well.

    But finally, she's goddess of birth as well. The whole circle of life thing. Lathander is god of birth (as the god of new beginnings), and Lathander couldn't be more different than Pharasma if he tried. While She's cold and distant, he's extremely charming and exuberant.

  • Rovagug: Talos the Destroyer is god of destruction, but it's just a "job" for him, while Rovagug was created to destroy everything. That nihilistic aspect would fit Shar more, who wants the world undone so she can have her peace.

  • Sarenrae: The dawnflower is goddess of the sun, and as such, Lathander the Morninglord is the closest fit. Vitality and new beginnings also fit her healing and redemption, and like hers, his followers can be quite zealous when it comes to eradicating blackest evil. They're still not the same (and Sarenrae never tried to remake the world in her image, of course), but close enough for government work.

  • Shelyn: This is harder than you'd say at first. Sure, she's the goddess of love, which would make CG Sune a good fit, but they're quite different in nature. Shelyn is like a sweet, pretty girl you can't help but love, a romantic soul. Sune is more the seductress who also values passion. In Golarion, that part is firmly in the hands of Calistria (Shelyn isn't against carnal pleasures, but thinks that they should be part of a deeper relationship.). The Realms may have Sharess, but she's more a specialised subordinate. Both goddesses are also goddesses of beauty.

    However, Shelyn also values art and music. The realms have Milil as god of music and Oghma as god of bards, and there's joyful Lliira who's closer to Shelyn in temper than Sune is.

    For those who like Firefly (and those who don't have a terrible taste and should be ashamed of themselves), Shelyn is like Kaylee while Sune is more like Inora.

  • Torag: Easy - Moradin as divine caricature of dwarves. The rest of the dwarven pantheon, too, after a fashion.

    However, Torag's role is more than just the Dwarf God, and the other aspects of his portfolio relate to different deities: Wonderbringer Gond is god of all smiths, while Red Knight is goddess of strategy.

  • Urgathoa: Her twin concerns are disease and undeath. Disease is, along with poison, Talona's think, while Velsharoon is the god of undeath (Myrkul would have been a half-decent fit as well, but he's dead).

  • Zon-Kuthon: The Midnight Lord has two deities filling in for him: Shar is goddess of loss and darkness, while Loviathar is goddess of pain and torture.

    Here's a big list of the pantheons. The domains in blue are ones that are not in the Pathfinder rules.

    Of these, some are subdomains found in the APG:

  • Trade: Travel subdomain
  • Reneval: There are the restoration and resurrection subdomains, both associated with Healing
  • Spell: Well, Magic has Arcane and Divine subdomains, but they're not quite the same. However, Spell is somewhat redundant, anyway.
  • Fate: A luck subdomain
  • Cavern: Earth has caves
  • Ocean: Water has oceans
  • Scalykind: That domain is found in the Inner Sea World Guide
  • Undeath: Death has an undead subdomain

    I always thought Tymora was probably Faerun's best analog for Cayden Caliean, considering their similar dogmas and worshipper demographics. If I were to exchange one Golarion god for an FR god, I would go with that one first of all. Siamorphe (god of rightful noble rule) would probably be the best analog for Abadar. Rovagug, as an ancient and primordial force of chaos, always struck me as relating well to Ghaunadar (of the drow pantheon). Otherwise you have a pretty complete list there, kudos.

    I think Sune is a closer fit for Shelyn than KaeYoss gave her credit for. With her "adoption" of Bast-Sharess, Sune seems to be leaving the portfolio of lust to her somewhat and focuses on the broader concepts of love and beauty. IIRC she also the protector of art and other things of beauty, and this is a major part of her paladin order's duties. Milil, Oghma and to a point Lathander are deities involved with art in general and the creative process, but Sune tends to be more involved in the purely aesthetical side.

    Overall, I think a conversion would work best if certain deities could be considered "aspects" of others. It is quite possible that the worship and even perception of a certain deity would be different in different parts of the world. Even if the deity exists and is conscious of this, it need not mind that as long as the worship is coming :) .

    WOW i have a lot more work ahead of my converting these domains.
    Done so far By me and others.

    Here's a draft of a couple of domains on that list I've been toying with:

    Portal Domain:
    Detect Portal (Su): You can detect an active or inactive portal as if it were a normal secret door (Perception DC 20).
    Dimensional Steps (Su): At 8th level, you can use this ability to teleport up to 30 feet per cleric level per day as a standard action. This teleportation must be used in 5-foot increments and such movement does not provoke an attack of opportunity. You can bring other willing creatures with you, but you must expend an equal amount of distance for each additional creature brought with you.

    Slime Domain:
    Viscid Glob (Sp): With a successful ranged touch attack you can lodge a glob of sticky slime onto an enemy. This attack affects them as a tanglefoot bag. You can do this a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wis modifier.
    Lord of Ooze (Su): At 8th level, you can take command of oozes as if you had cast control undead upon them (though this ability affects oozes instead of undead). You may do this once per day at level 8, and an additional time per day for every 4 levels after 8th.

    Oh, and the spider domain, nearly forgot that:

    Spider domain:
    Spider Empathy (Sp): You aquire a special spider empathy ability; this works like the druid’s animal empathy but only works with spidery Vermin and you get a +1 bonus on it for every cleric level (instead of druid level) you have. You can also attempt this with spider-themed Magical Beasts that have an Intelligence of less than 3, but with a -4 penalty. Vermin are normally mindless, but this empathic communication imparts on them a modicum of implanted intelligence to understand what you say. Vermin empathy treats swarms as if they were one creature possessing a single mind—you can thus use this ability to influence and direct the actions of spider swarms with relative ease. You may also cast Speak With Vermin (as per Speak with Animals, but working only with spider Vermin) a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.
    Spider Form (Su): At 8th level, you may take the form of a monstrous spider once per day as if you had cast Verminshape II. You may do this once per day at level 8, and once more per day for every 4 levels thereafter.

    On another note, several of the domains in the "in the works" list there are also subdomains in the APG. There's a metal subdomain of Earth, a trade subdomain of travel, a fate subdomain of luck, and a tactics subdomain of war that is fairly similar to the planning domain from what I recall. Scalykind also got put in the Inner Sea World Guide I believe (it made it into the 3.X srd with the deities stuff). On the paizo blog not too long ago there were two subdomains IIRC too.

    Has anyone attempted to find replacement PF domains for the FR domains that don't exist in PF?

    I am running an FR campaign using PF, but I don't want to create any new domains.

    I would rather just find the most logical replacement domain in PF, or choose a PF domain that just makes sense for the particular FR god.

    That's a pretty good Spider Domain! I might have to take it and use it for my own purposes for my Realms game.

    I actually converted a lot of the Realms specific domains for my Realms game myself. Some were left out, mainly because it was a bit difficult to write them up. Scalykind got put in the Inner World Sea guide, so that's back at least.

    The racial domains I never did either (one because I couldn't figure out how to do them, and two, I never had a player that ever took a racial specific domain).

    Here is a drow domain.

    Drow Domain

    Granted Powers: You gain Lightning Reflexes as a bonus feat.
    Spiders Caress (Ex): As a Standard action, you can deliver a poisonous touch attack. This poison is Identicle to Medium spider venom except it has a touch vector. This poison cant be applied to weapons. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.
    betrayal(Su): At 8th level, you can betrey an ally to avoid damage. Any non area attack or effect that targets only you can be Re directed to one of your allies within 30 ft. This ability can be used one time per day at level 8 and one aditionaly time per day per 4 levels (2/day at 12, 3/day at 16, 4/day at 20)
    Domain Spells: 1st—Cloak Of Dark Power (Or Magic Weapon*), 2nd—Claraudiance/claravoyance, 3rd—Sugjestion, 4th—Discern Lies, 5th—Insect Plague (Flying spiders Instead of wasps), 6th—Greater Dispelling, 7th—Word Of chaos, 8th—Greater Planar Ally, 9th— Gate

    Here's what I have for a domain to domain substitution so far. Note that a fair number of these are subdomains from the Advanced Player's Guide. Still haven't been able to find proper replacements for several of these, most notably the racial ones.

    Cavern-> Caves (subdomain of Earth)
    Cold -> Ice (subdomain of water)
    Craft -> Artifice
    Drow-> ?
    Dwarf-> ?, possibly Artifice, Earth, or Runes, depending on the deity
    Elf->?
    Family-> Community (or its Family subdomain)
    Fate -> Fate (subdomain of Luck)
    Halfling -> ?
    Hatred-> ? possibly Destruction or Curse (subdomain of Luck), depending on the deity
    Illusion.> Trickery (or one of its subdomains)
    Mentalism -> Memory or Thought (subdomains of Knowledge)
    Metal-> Metal (subdomain of Earth)
    Moon->?
    Ocean -> Oceans (subdomain of water)
    Orc -> ?
    Planning –tactics (subdomain of war)
    Portal -> Travel (or its Exploration subdomain)
    Renewal-> Restoration (subdomain of Healing) or Purity (subdomain of Strength)
    Scalykind -> Scalykind Domain (Inner Sea world guide)
    Spider-> ?
    Slime-> Decay (subdomain of Plant)
    Spell-> Arcane (subdomain of the Magic domain)
    Storm- Storms (sudomain of Weather)
    Suffering-> Curse (subdomain of Luck), or Loss (subdomain of Darkness), or Martyr (subdomain of Nobility),
    Time-> ?
    Trade -> Trade (subdomain of Travel)
    Tyranny-> Leadership (subdoman of Nobility) or Toil (subdomin of Artifice)
    Undeath -> Undeath (subodmain of Death)
    Watery Death -> ?

    Now that is what I am talking about. Thanks.

    Here's my own spin on the Renewal Domain

    Renewal Domain

    Granted Powers: You are a master of restoration, allowing you to restore ability damage and renew your own vigor and vitality.

    Renewing Touch (Su): Your touch can restore ability damage, healing 1d4 points of ability damage done. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

    Renewed Efforts (Su): At 8th level, when you are brought to zero or less hit points, you can expend two of your channel energy uses to channel energy as a free action, but only to heal yourself. You can use this ability once per day, with an additional time per day at levels 12, 16, and 20.

    Domain Spells: 1 - Charm Person, 2 - Lesser Restoration, 3 - Remove Disease, 4 - Reincarnate, 5 - Atonement, 6 - Heroes’ Feast, 7 - Greater Restoration, 8 - Polymorph Any Object, 9 - Freedom

    Renewal looks pretty cool but why charm person?

  • That's all well and good, but take Bane for instance. He had 5 domains (Destruction, Evil, Law, Tyranny, Hatred) but now only has three domains and two subdomains. Does he get access to other domains to make up the difference?

    I'm having trouble finding guidelines on how many domains/subdomains a deity should be able to grant. I know demigods grant at least 4 domains, and higher ranked deities can grant more, but I don't have specifics. The subdomains seem to be just whatever seems appropriate, with no rhyme or reason.

    Also, I've noticed that the Imagination subdomain of Luck is almost a perfect fit for the Illusion domain. But if I give, for example, Akadi the Imagination subdomain, do I then have to give her Luck as well?

    And speaking of Luck, why does Beshaba (the goddess of bad luck) not have access to the luck domain? Can I grant her the Curse subdomain without giving her the Luck domain?

    I think the unwritten guideline has been for 5 domains and 6 subdomains for full blown deities and 4 domains/5 subdomains for demigods/quasideities/powerful outsider lords. I can recall some blog pots where they gave a demonlord or some such a subdomain that wasn't normally attached to (maybe making Ice a subdomain of weather for this once special exception? I can't recall). In any case, I think when converting stuff like this just go with whatever you feel is best. I certainly gave Beshaba access to the Luck domain so she could get the Curse subdomain, but it's really just up to what you think is best.
