Just picked this up recently, was a little confused about something...
It says:
"Instead of gaining the standard shield bonus to AC, shields should be treated as various forms of cover, with special benefits gained when the wear is proficient in the use of the shield in combat."
...and...
"Creatures that are flat-footed or denied their Dexterity bonus to AC gain no cover bonus from their shield, but treat other shield bonuses they possess using the standard rules."
Leaving aside that it should be the wearer, does this mean when you're flat-footed, you revert to gaining a shield bonus to AC as using the standard rules, or does other shield bonuses refer to feats, class features, and other such, or something else entirely...?
