3.5 stars - solid bloodlines + 2 mutated ones

4/5

This installment of the Class Acts-line is 4 pages long, 1 page front cover, 1 page SRD, leaving two pages for the new sorceror bloodlines, so let's take a look!

The first bloodline is the Mesmerist bloodline, which allows you to gain hypnotic and divinatory powers, including a psychic crush-like mental blast that deals damage on a failed will-save, a minor precognition that you can change into augury by reducing it by 1 and later improved mental skills, telepathy, the ability to unleash blast of fascination and finally, at 20th level, you may cast wish as a silent and still spell, making your very thoughts reality.

The second bloodline is perhaps most fitting for martially-inclined sorcerors, the Trollblooded. Trollblooded may grant themselves improving claws and start gaining improved constitutions, +4 to CMD, escape artist and disguise and at higher levels they can reattach severed limbs and finally get full blown trollish regeneration.

The pdf also offers two mutated bloodlines for wildblooded sorcerors, the one based on the Mesmerist being the Enchanted bloodline that replaces the intellect-related abilities of the mesmerist with improved enchantments and compulsions as well as slippery mind and SR vs. enchantments.

The second wildblooded bloodline is the Scragblooded, who may cast spells underwater as if modified by Silent Spell without increasing their level and gain a swim speed, eventually becoming amphibious.

Conclusion:
Editing and formatting are very good, I didn't notice any significant glitches. Layout adheres to Abandoned Art's 2-column standard sans bookmarks and artworks, though admittedly, at this length and price point the pdf needs neither. The bloodlines in here are solid and the addition of the two wildblooded bloodlines makes for a nice bonus. The Mesmeric bloodline is truly interesting in its abilities, but it imho lacks a more concise focus - some lesser mesmerizing powers would have been nice, perhaps a high-level way to break past a mind blank, something like that. (I'm complaining at a high level here, though.) In direct contrast, the Trollblooded Bloodline could have used some minor self-healing capabilities at lower levels and the high-level arcanas suck - at 15th and 20th level, the paltry resistances and regeneration won't wow any beasty. The Enchanted wildblooded is nice and for aquatic-heavy campaigns, the scragblooded's boni could offset the relative suckage of its parent-bloodline's high-level abilities. All in all, the bloodlines are solid, though not too exciting and thus, I'll settle on a final verdict of 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4 due to me liking the Mesmeric bloodline's concept. If that does not excite you, round down.

Endeitgeist out.

More Sorcerer Bloodline fun!

5/5

Abandoned Arts had my attention instantly with their variant spell-less Rangers, and with the fantastic .99 price on their supplements, I've never regretted purchasing their material. Class Acts: Sorcerers introduces two new bloddlines, the Mesmeric, and the Trollblooded. The Mesmeric bloodline gives you a kind of fun pseudo psionic / divination vibe, which has some fun abilities that don't step on any of the traditional diviners toes. I initially thought their 20th level ability "Thought Made Reality" was a bit over the top (an essentially unstoppable Wish SLA) but then I realized that we are talking 20th level here.
The Trollblooded bloodline gives us another claw-having melee style Sorcerer. He scales a little nicely, with improved claw damage that scales by level and throws in a couple fun abilities, and CON bumps and eventually regeneration. I was a little worried about how this one might work with the Eldritch Heritage line of feats, but ultimately it's no worse than the Orc Bloodline.
Some of their Wildblooded alternates were fun too (The Scrag-blooded will be making an appearance in our Cerulean Seas campaign), so definitely more than worth the .99 price tag.

Finally! A Class Act for my favorite class. What's the mesmeric bloodline?

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32

Mesmeric: One of your ancestors suffered a traumatic psychic or telepathic experience, or somehow telepathically “touched” the mind of a vastly powerful otherworldly entity. Your heritage has gifted you with the power to manifest hypnotic and divinatory abilities.

Enchanted: (a wildblooded variant of Mesmeric) You were conceived while one or both of your parents were captivated by the effects of powerful enchantment spells.

Enjoy!

@ Ssalarn:
Thanks for your review! Judging from your review history, I think you may have forgotten to include a star rating (as opposed to intentionally leaving that space blank). Cheers!
