I was indeed wondering about that connection.

What could possible be the relation? It is not as if the free KQ#10 is available at Paizo, or is it?

I think he just means that people getting the freebie have, in fact, picked up a few of the more recent issues as well.

I'd think that was the whole idea. John Q. Paizo sees a thread announcing this on Paizo, so he says to himself, "I'll give that free issue a whirl." After reading the free issue, he begins twitching. His throat begins feeling dry. He's gotta have more. So, he may well come back and buy the most recent issue here; he might not necessarily go and subscribe on KQ. Maybe the hook hasn't gone deep enough yet.

Despite the fact that my wife and I have been writing for KQ since issue #2, this is the first time we've actually seen it in dead-tree print. It's fantastic! Totally exceeded my expectations, which I guess is why I've been doing pdf all this time. If you are considering KQ for content on the cheap, pdf is the way to go. Grab that free copy of KQ #10 and see what you think. If you want to hold something glossy in your hands, the print copy does not disappoint.

I am looking to create a new character for an upcoming campaign. Essentially a cleric-monk. Someone pointed me to KQ #12, saying it had a new class Sohei (Sacred Fist) that is a Pathfinder rules and is a monk class with clerical spell casting.

I have looked at d20pfsrd and other places but cannot find the mechanics of the class. Is this material OGC? If yes, can someone point me to where it is. If No, can someone post the highlights?

By highlights, full clerical spell casting? What monk abilities are kept and which are lost? Any other clerical abilities gained? If it is not OGC, just the basics. I am trying to figure out if this is worth purchasing.

While not the version contained in this book, there is also a sohei archetype in Ultimate Combat, available on the Pathfinder Reference Document here.

Liz, I appreciate the link, however, it is not what I am looking for as there is no clerical spell casting.

In another thread I asked about monk / cleric and one of the options that someone pointed to was this KQ 12 Shoei because it contained clerical spell casting. All I am trying to do is confirm that is true before plunking my money down for the pdf.

Taking a look at the PDF, the sohei monk archetype contained gains spells & orisons as a cleric (along with a new class feature called extension of self), but loses flurry of blows, bonus feats, still mind, wholeness of body, and diamond soul. You do not get domains, domain spells, or spontaneous casting as a cleric with the sohei monk.

Thanks Liz!
