About Tazantahrac

Appearance:
Tazan has the physical features (dusky skin, white hair, purple eyes) usually thought of as typical of the drow, buy his physique is built more like a human's. His long hair is pulled back into a ponytail, and he has tattoos across his arms and torso, the stylized geometric drawings typical of much Vulkoori body art.

Backstory:

Tazan grew up in the jungles of Xen’drik with his tribe, the T’venix. The T’venix see themselves as “guardians of the past,” living their lives traveling a wandering course around the continent, making sure that things that have long lain in the ruins of the ages are undisturbed by the bands of outlanders that have been coming to Xen’drik with a frequency that is almost alarming. As a child, Tazan found himself to be a target for the other children of the tribe, but he compensated by being twice as rough in return, and eventually earned a measure of acceptance that way.

On one of the tribe's “inspections,” the T’venix were horrified to discover that the [MacGuffin] had gone missing. The tribe immediately devoted itself to its location and retrieval. Tazan found himself tracking a path to Stormreach. A contact in House Lyrandar described having seen an object matching [MacGuffin]’s description loaded onto an airship headed for Sharn. With that, Tazan found himself headed to Khorvaire, to track down [MacGuffin] and retrieve it by any means necessary.

Personality:
Tazan retains the drow’s usual sense of superiority to the other races, but usually manages to conceal it (or at least keep from acting on it) behind a facade of civility; he recognizes that now that he’s the outlander, it would be a terrible idea going around antagonizing the entire city of Sharn. While certainly capable of good manners and charm, Tazan’s first impulse is to not give anything away, so unless he’s actively working a case (his own or the agency’s), he tends to be rather tight-lipped around strangers.

To-Dos:

The name. I think he needs a name change; this name feels more Mother-Lolth drow to me than Xen’drik.

The MacGuffin. So far I’ve left out some details of the item that was taken from Xen’drik. Mainly because I wanted some GM feedback on the issue. Not everything has to have world-shattering implications. Yes, it could be some dangerous artifact leftover from the titans’ reign, but it could also conceivably be some item looted from an ancestor’s tomb, or a piece of drow ceremonial art with no magical value, just cultural significance. Bottom line, I'm comfortable with any level of importance you want to place on this plotline, all the way down to “it's just an answer to the question, ‘What is your character in Sharn’”. :)

I think the thief is associated with Morgrave University; either a professor there himself, or was in the employ of same. How much Tazan knows about this (in the sense of how far along he is in his investigation) is open for discussion.

Also, if Rael and Tazan are both accepted as characters, I’d love to hear any ideas he has about both this plot point and his own, and how the two characters’ plotlines intersect.

NB - Any reference to a starknife is just using that as a stand-in for the drow long knife, HL does not currently allow for custom design weapons.
