Background
Tandrok hails from the Fallen Steeps (change to appropriate campaign location. He is the offspring of a male orc, and human female. His father was a prominent lieutenant to the chief who had taken his mother as the spoils of one of their raids. While growing up Tandrok was picked on by the other orc children for not only being a runt because of his slower growth rate, but also because he really was small for his size. HIs father constantly beat on him and his mother, as he took it as a sign of having a bad seed and that he would father no worthy heir to leave his spoils to.
One day coming back from a raid against a village, Tandrok's father brought back a bound book back to their compound. As it was indecipherable, he threw it away in the trash. The young boy claimed the book while his father was in a drunken stupor after a long night of celebrating a successful raid. During the following years, the boy studied the book diligently at night and would try to reproduce the few formulas that were within without much success.
As the years progressed, 'drok's father realized that both his son and 'wife' would outlive him. Fuelled by jealousy and drunken rage he beat her until she was nothing more than a bloody mass of bones and flesh. Turning upon his son, he told him that tomorrow he would be next.
In panic, the boy mixed a formula containing a mutagen but also the blood of orcs and other ingredients that he had found in the shaman's tent and imbibed it. To his surprise the runt grew into a hulking brute and hefted his father's axe with ease. Out of rage and fear for what he had done, the boyman slew his father where he stood. As his father looked upon him, he did not seem to recognize who was standing before him.
Hastily, 'drok picked up the nearest items and ran into the darkness. The boy was surprised to find out that the formula's effects did not fade after a few hours. While he now was the man-orc that his father always wanted, he realised that he had lost physical aspects of his humanity that his mother had so cherished and praised him during his youth. He now had tusks and the red eyes begetting a true orc.
The years following that night have been mostly dark and filled with pain, anguish and remorse. Tandrok has learned a number of formulas and tricks while adventuring from temporary companions, the alchemists that would deal with him, and by pure chance. Being raised by orcs has made him a sort of survivalist, and will take any means necessary to win a fight. While he regrets the actions that he took on that night, he has embraced the gift of alchemy that he has never been able to reproduce and now enhances it with new discoveries and formulas. He has embraced it to such an extent that he also uses it to numb his memories with drugs and drinks that he creates himself on lonely evenings.
He is dressed in a long overcoat, hat, scarf and goggles. On close inspection the green skin can be seen and in the rare times that he takes off his scarf and goggles in public, his protruding tusks and red eyes are clearly apparent. His skin is dotted with numerous tattoos and piercings. His coat and outfit are laid out with a number of pouches and vials, some empty some not. The smell of minerals and regents hangs around him like a second skin. A rectangular leather travelling case, is always near him.
