Kereek strolls out to the center of the stadium grounds and takes a moment, breathing deeply. He blushes a bit when he hears the exuberant Prazil shouts, then smiles. Kereek nods cordially at all the contestants, but doesn't particularly find any of them compelling until he spots the bugbear. He lights up and sidles over to the bugbear. "Hello! Kereek am happy to see another person who am not human or elf or dwarf or halfling! How am it living in Tymon? Am they welcoming to people who am not human or elf or dwarf or halfling?"

Who you callin' well-intentioned?!? Kereek nods along as Jon-Jon explains. "Hmmm. Kereek am seeing where this am going. Kereek am thinking tonight and making big plans, yes yes!" He heads off to his sleeping quarters to think and rest and dream and plot.

Now Man am saying he am grueling to worst club. Worst club am way to show off kills without going over a board and hacking a sleigh into a post tent. Spoiler: Kereek killed the bard that was spreading rumors in the 2nd book, I think it was. He was warned to stop and when he persisted, Kereek broke into his house and shot him with a crossbow and human-bane bolt he bought for the occasion. Both weapons were then incinerated. Kereek didn't tell anyone because 1. He thought it had to be done. 2. Baron Jon was a paladin and Kereek knew he would disapprove. Still, in his capacity as spymaster, Kereek is pragmatic over morality. He does what he thinks must be done for the good of the kingdom.

I support whatever decision you make, Mott. You're a great GM and player and I'd be happy to do whatever. Still, I want it to be told that somewhere in the Stolen Lands there is a kingdom where kobolds counsel kings and where increasingly inappropriate match-making occurs with said king, because moon radishes make us do strange and wondrous things. Where herbivorous dinosaurs fly across the moon late at night. Where the birds are always watching and if you badmouth our ruler, a small dark shadow will visit you in the wee hours of the morning and burn your house to the ground.

I know! I think it's the sense of whimsy and innocence that makes Kereek feel so real to me. I have characters I play and I have characters I just channel, giving him life for a little while. Kereek is definitely one of those. Even if we stop playing, that little kobold will live on.
HP 76/76, AC 21, T 14, FF 18, F+5, R+7, W+8, Perc +12, Init +7
Kereek is definitely fun to play and part of this stems from the fact that he's not optimized for much beyond blowing things up. And that's just fine by me. I love playing a character who is not ready for the challenges presented to him. It makes for a fun time.

I'm definitely still enjoying the game, but sandboxy bits do slow things down unless we're all agreed to keep flogging them forward. I am looking forward to dealing with dignitaries at this level of our career. Let's see how diplomatic we can be!

Kereek snarls at Prazil for dislodging his treat! "Hmmm, maybe birds am for telling Kereek what am really going on around here?" Kereek nods and heads toward the menagerie, casting elemental speech on himself as he goes. He'll see if the local birds are anything as chatty as their Thronehold cousins! |
