Just got my first Paizo T in the mail today. I haven't had a chance to wear it yet, but the text and artwork are great.
My only gripe is the small packaging method leads to massive creasing on the shirt (and wierd triangular smooth patches) - I have yet to see if things comes out after one wash or many. I would give it a 3, but the goblin song is just too great.
Exactly what you would expect for a $25 shirt, so instead of getting a fancy shirt at a store, support Paizo and get one with a little (goblin)style!
For those of you thinking of getting into the Pathfinder APs, start here. It continues the tradition of Shackled City and Age of Worms while instilling the world of Golarian with its own life and future.
I would have liked a bit more detail on how to make the PCs native to the town, but that is a minor issue.
Excellent quality in both production and design. I plan on using it in the FR, and it does not seem like much work to transplant Sandpoint.
If you plan on starting an AD&D game, or even a game in another edition, at 1st level, then this adventure is right for you. The pdf is good quality, only a few misaligned pages. The text is clear and legible, and as a black and white book, it should be relatively cheap to print off a copy for yourself.
In general, I was not disappointed playing my first game of 4th Edition, but then I had low expectations and neither was I impressed with it.
Overall, the game delivers on its promises:
- characters all build the same (very minimally) and play the same (from a small selection of abilities)
- certain "powerful" abilities have been toned down
- combat rounds are shorter but you get more turns in one combat (because monsters and PCs have large quantities of hp)
If you read the 4th Edition previews and thought "this is what D&D needs" then you will not be disappointed - it delivers as promised.
If you read the previews and thought "not for me" then feel affirmed, because 4th Edition doesn't add anything to the game that make it worth changing editions.
And if you have no clue about 4th Edition, then give it a try. At the very worst, you will have some fun roleplaying and killing monsters for a few hours. At best, you might like the game.
**1/2 stars as Advanced D&D.
**** stars as Basic D&D.
I have to say, I was impressed enough with the Critical Hit/Fumble Decks that I picked this up on a whim at my FLGS. I can already imagine using it to spice up a merchants shop, lay out the equipment of a recently defeated foe, or have PCs organize their backpacks (put everything in your backpack under your backpack card!).
I would have liked multiple copies of some of the more common items, but for $10 I can pick up an extra deck no problem. And copying is pretty inexpensive, even in colour.
Got this at the same time as my Critical Hit Deck, and plan to use them for all my future games. A great companion set, the only thing detracting from 5/5 was the sometimes cheesy titles for effects. Overall, well worth my $$$.
I appreciated the generic weapon type, and the varied effects from status to ability damage, etc. The cards were easy to read and will definitely make my games more fun (for years I used a percentile chart). My only complaint is the sometimes corny titles for effects.
