History:
Several centuries ago, in a town whose name and location have been stricken from the history books, the mayor was faced with a difficult choice: either let his town be overrun by the enemies howling at the gates or strike a bargain with Hell itself. Prayers and pleas to Iomedae had for some unknown reason gone unheard and now the town of several thousand was about to slaughtered in less than a week.

The only choice to save his people made, a deal was struck and aid came. Pouring forth from a Hellsmouth, a mighty Infernal Legion easily routed the army bent on destroying the town. However, when one makes a deal with the Devil, there is always a price. In this case, the mayor had to allow a Erinyes to impregnate his daughter, giving Hell an ally on the Material Plane.

Haruk is a descendant of that foul coupling, but to hear him speak of it, one would think that was the greatest gift and honor his ancestors could have bestowed upon him. The silver tongued sorcerer has done much in so few years, ranging from killing lay priests, to desecrating a large church by remaking it in Hell's image. However, his greatest victory was yet to come.

Six years ago, as he was traveling the roads, spreading the word of Asmodeus, he happened upon a trio of holy siblings. Micah was a handsome Paladin, mighty in both word and deed. His sister Rafaela was a Cleric, whose beauty few could match. And their younger brother was a Heaven's blessed Sorcerer by the name of Gabe. Haruk could instantly sense their innate goodness, but years of deception and guile taught him to hide his vileness. So it was that three siblings did not realize the snake they invited into their camp that fateful night.

As they sat around the fire, each of three in turn spoke of their devotion to and love of Iomedae. How simple and blind they were, yet Haruk listened intently, and pretended to be interested in joining their church. He claimed to be conflicted, however, since he said he did not believe in any higher power. He would need proof of the divine. So it was that the four traveled together for some time, and here and there the Infernalist would arrange for accidents and mishaps to befall innocents, so that his holy companions could prove the reality of the divine being they believed in. Of course, Haruk would claim something else empowered the three, not their god. So it went for nearly a year, until one day, finally, he "cracked". The sorcerer arranged for a small platoon of goblins to "attack" a village they were staying in, and when Micah strode valiantly into battle, heedless of his own safety and single-handily "slew" the whole group of them. What he didn't know was that before the battle, Haruk had given them all a slow acting poison, which he told the goblins were potions of heroic might.

By pretending to be a convert, he was allowed into churches more, which also lead to be able to spend more time among the lay people. Carefully, and with great subtly, he turned as many of them as he could to worship Asmodeus, and once each of them had fully and finally embraced the King of Hell, he slew them, consigning their souls to Hell.

During this time, he slowly and insidiously worked to bring his friends down a darker path. He chose Gabe first, as not only was he the youngest, but also a fellow sorcerer. Within the span of five months after his older brother's "triumph" over the goblins, Gabe was brought to the side of the Pit. The two then turned their attentions to Rafaela, who joined them by year's end. It took almost a whole year to cause Micah to fall. When Haruk revealed the truth behind that "glorious victory" over the goblins, the paladin was enraged, and turned to his siblings to aid him in destroying such a foul being. However, instead of helping they restrained him. Seeing their betrayal shattered the faith the holy warrior placed in his god, and thus was willing to accept the dark promises worshiping Asmodeus offered.
