The earliest childhood memories of Evelyn Gertruade deGrey have been long forgotten, replaced by the realities of a cold and uncaring world. She would never know her birth parents, nor for what reason she had become separated from them. Instead she fell in with the machinations of the vile Gaedren Lamm, as one of the notorious 'Little Lamms'; orphans turned petty criminals and urchins that plague the streets of Korvosa.
In the case of Evelyn specifically; she was one of a handful that Lamm had tasked tasked with picking over fresh corpses for whatever valuables they may have, especially those of the Gray district. In the course of those trips she inevitably had contact with the priests of Pharasma that made their home in the district, and in doing so was first introduced to some of the more complex ideas of mortality. They even gifted her with a small trinket of the faith, a sign of good wishes for the unfortunate child.
Of course, when Gaedren found out, he beat the girl within in an inch of her life. Fearing that he would not stop there, Evelyn fled to the only place she had felt even a scrap of solace: the Gray district. However, now thoroughly distrusting of any that would lend a helping hand, she hid herself amongst the districts gravestones rather than running into the open arms of the church.
Whatever loneliness she may have felt beforehand was quickly magnified tenfold. Completely isolated, she subsisted on picking scraps from the deceased or stealing bits of food from the nearby market districts. By some chance of fate, she also found the tattered remains of some ancient Grimoire, the contents of which where far darker than your average magical tome. In reading it she learned of the methods by which one could draw upon otherworldly creatures. In her case it was easiest to give the thousands of bones surrounding her form and function one more, and in doing so she came to consider them like the family she had never had.
Of course, such flagrant practice of the necromantic arts on sacred ground drew the immediate attention of the goddess Pharasma. However, glancing upon the girl for only a moment she saw a soul to be pitied, not punished. What prophecy the Lady of Graves may have in mind may never be known, but nonetheless she saw fit to send one of her servants to shepherd the young summoner.
Meanwhile, heedless of the things she herself had set into motion, Evelyn continued to experiment with her summonings. Much to her surprise (and delight) she made contact with a creature calling itself Sir Erhart deGrey. Simply put: it told her that she had the potential to be so much more, and that she didn't have to be lonely anymore.
Under the tutelage of Sir deGrey she managed to survive her adolescence, though not without a marked influence from the Outsider. Recently she has willingly returned to the service of Gaedren Lamm, believing him to be in possession of a signet ring belonging to her family line.

Evelyn Gertruade deGrey is a young woman of average build with brown hair and green eyes. A life of hardships have strengthened her body without dulling her mind, though she does not excel in any particular area. At one time she was lonely and withdrawn, but has recently found a whole new font of confidence centered on the idea that she is the next in a long and noble lineage of knights. Her belief is such that she is indignant to anyone who would even think to question the legitimacy of her claim (despite being clad in dirty garments and armed with a well-worn steel sword). She also has a strong belief in an extended "family" based on Sir deGrey and the skeletons she summons to aid her. Of course, this means she does not think of necromancy is an evil art, more a means to an end that she borrows upon from time to time.
Her Eidolon, Sir Erhard deGrey, takes exception to this belief for obvious reasons. He often goes out of his way to guide her away from the more dangerous areas of the dark arts and so far has been successful in limiting her raised skeletons to phantoms that last a few mere seconds at best. Though he is a Psychopomp of the goddess Pharasma, he has chosen to take the form of an ancient knight to earn the trust of his charge. He wields a massive warhammer as a weapon and, strangely, does not appear to have a head. It is a minor detriment at best, as the Eidolon is apparently able to see, hear, and speak all the same.
