Eloise Tow was born under the name Helène to the noble house Leroung in Egorian, capitol of the foul realm of Cheliax. She spent her youth passed from one tutor to the next, trying her best to absorb the lessons in magic, swordplay, history, the arts and whatever else her elders presented her with, while also desperately attempting to avoid involvement in any of Cheliax' poisonous politics. Truth be told, Helène was a timid, even fearful child that spent as much time alone as she could.
Meeting professor Lorrimor, when he held a series of lectures at a Leroung-sponsored school Helène was attending at the time, was both an epiphany and an inspiration: here was a man who sought knowledge with vigor, daring to tread the world where others hid in towers and colleges to rehash the rote learning of the past.
Initially, Helène's tutors and elders were well-pleased with the new fire their little scion suddenly displayed towards her studies. They were less pleased when she displayed an equal zest for her classes in swordsmanship, horseriding and other physical pursuits, but shrugged it off as a young child, needing to burn off excess energy.
What the elders thought when Helène Leroung fled Egorian after the celebration of her twentieth birthday, changed her name to Eloise Tow, altered her appearance and fled the country outright, she does not know. She has been travelling the world for three years, beholden to none save those who employ her for a while.
Eloise does not hate her family 'back home' outright, but she feels nothing but disgust for Cheliax. The world is a wide, amazing place, and she wants to see and experience everything. Magic is a delight, but so is the energy inherent in swordplay. Cruelty and abuse anger her, and she may be a little too quick to draw her blade and hurl spells when she perceives them to be taking place. Nevertheless, her heart is firmly in the right place. She was saddened to hear of Prof. Lorrimor's death, and has dropped everything to attend the reading of his will when she learned that she was invited.
Sadly, she has suffered some delays in getting to the Professor's home town. Bad weather was part of it, the necessity of running from bandits another. Although she pushed her trusty grey mount as hard as she dared, Eloise knows she is late to the funeral...
Eloise is fairly short for her age, standing at 5'6.
She possesses the black hair, dark eyes and pale skin of a native Chelaxian, but lacks the refinement of a typical lady. She wears her hair tied back in a simple tail, does not wear makeup to soften the sharp angles of her face, and wears dark traveller's clothes, a chain shirt, gloves and boots wherever she goes.
Her body is graceful, but it is the grace of a trained warrior, not that of a dancer. For a highborn lady, her limbs are too muscular, and she bears a few scars on her arms and legs.
A longsword hangs from her belt on one side, a spell component pouch dangling opposite. She keeps a knife up her sleeve; a holdover from growing up in Cheliax.
