Chezarion had been born and raised in Mylosis. At least to the extent that an elf who wasn't much more than twenty years old could have been said to have been "raised" anywhere. Chezarion was living at home with his parents when Mylosis fell. He had just started his training as a rogue. Ivellios, his father who was a ranger, insisted that in addition to the normal training a rogue should get that Chezarion should also be trained in Survival. Faunra, his mother who was a cleric of Desna, had wanted him to become a cleric. This was especially relevant to her given that Chezarion had already manifested two aspects of the goddess's favor. He was a light bringer as well as being able to use the sacred touch. Chezarion's mother wasn't all that happy with his choice of training as a rogue but wasn't yet willing to make a real issue of it. Be all that as it may, Chezarion had returned home from a long day in weapons training and finished a relaxing bath in the magically heated tub that his family owned. He was returning to his bedroom clad only in a loincloth and sandals when he became aware that something was seriously wrong. There was a lot of noise coming from the front of the house; screams, yells, howls and the sound of things being broken. To say nothing of his mother's voice being raised to its loudest possible level as she was yelling prayers and incantations in celestial. Chezarion's father emerged from the master bedroom with his armor only partially on, his longsword in his hand, and most of his normally carefully placed weapons gear in danger of falling off him. Chezarion's father tossed him a dagger and yelled,"Run!" He pointed to the back door of the house as he did so. Chezarion looked obviously confused and replied,"What?" His father repeated the command and the gesture and then ran off towards the front of the house. Chezarion took the dagger and headed out the back door, looking around the neighborhood as he exited the house. What he saw could literally be described as "all hell breaking loose." Chezarion decided that his father had the right idea and ran as fast as he could towards the edge of the city. Several things started chasing him, but he didn't even turn around to see what they were. He just put everything he had into running. Eventually whatever they were lost interest and turned their attention to slower prey. The screams that followed were especially disconcerting. Chezarion ran faster. Chezarion didn't pay much attention to the dagger that his Father had tossed to him until some time later. It was one of a matched set that Faunra had commissioned for a gift to Ivellios on their 50th wedding anniversary. It was well made, of full tang construction with ivory handle slabs that had a representation of Desna's Holy Symbol inlaid into them in bronze. The hand guard projected out from the hilt in two sort of triangular prongs in a manner somewhat suggestive of being a star knife, but was in reality nothing more than a neat looking way to put a functional guard on the weapon. Chezarion never saw any of his other family members again. After several months of traveling during which time he got in lots of practice being stealthy and living off the land Chezarion made it to Broaklesh. He was taken in by other elves who helped finish raising and training him. When Chezarion was old and well trained enough he joined the fight against the hellish invaders. Meeting up with a unit from the Consortium of Light he decided that he liked their approach and transferred over to them. After Chezarion had served with the Consortium for about a decade or so and acquired a decent reputation with them, they gave him the chance to go to Archdale. A group was forming up in that location that might go raiding into Mylosis. They would need an excellent scout if they were to succeed in such a task. They also needed people who were familiar with the city. Granted that things would have changed quite a bit since Chezarion was last there, but for all practical purposes he was a native guide. |
