Rory Dunsirn |
When the shot goes wild he flinches but he tries not to step back in fear it will make him more easily a target. He screamed out in a mix of fear and rage. Rory swings the club like a baseball player going for a homer.

How much tougher has Miles become? Did I gain a dot of Stamina or something?
[dice=Soak (Stamina + Fortitude)]2d10+1d10 1 Success, I think!
[dice=Self-Control]3d10 1 Success!
Miles barely feels the knife plunging into his gut, save for a flash of pain.
...
...
...and something else. Rage. Unbelievably powerful rage, clawing at his mind.
just the 1 dot of fortitude for getting tougher.

you still act before the robed guys do again, so it isn't terribly out of sequence.
Henry Aketer |
Round 1
Henry's pulse races though the usual surge of excitement he feels is somewhat diminished and yet more intense as he swings at the gunman who stabbed Miles with the table leg.
Dexterity + Celerity 3d10 ⇒ (2, 3, 5) = 10
Damage + Potence 3d10 ⇒ (3, 8, 1) = 12
As Henry suspected, he just isn't very good at this sort of thing and misses...
Miles Thorne |
Round 2: Actions
Smash the man who stabbed me!
Miles' eyes light up with fury & fear as he turns his wrath on the man who stabbed him, and swings his table leg at him!
Attack (Dexterity + Celerity?): 3d10 + 1d10 ⇒ (7, 7, 10) + (5) = 29 3 Successes!
Weapon Damage (Bonus Success, Strength + Potence?): 1d10 + 2d10 + 2d10 + 1d10 ⇒ (9) + (4, 5) + (7, 5) + (7) = 37 3 Successes!
Billy Hawkins |
Billy moves over with ill intent toward the robed figure that stabbed Miles. Fully intent on caving in the robed figure's skull, Billy swings with all of his might.
Clubbing Attack (Dex + Melee + Celerity): 3d10 + 2d10 + 1d10 ⇒ (8, 9, 9) + (8, 1) + (9) = 44 4 successes
Damage (Str + 2 + Potence + extra successes): 9d10 ⇒ (9, 3, 3, 5, 7, 1, 1, 3, 3) = 35
Overzelous in his swing he only manages to graze his target.
Browman |
As 3 of them mob one of the robed men, they almost get in each others way.
soak: 2d10 ⇒ (5, 1) = 6
Except for Miles, who connects with a solid hit to the torso of his foe.
Rory swings at his enemy again. damage: 7d10 ⇒ (3, 6, 1, 7, 2, 6, 7) = 32 3 successes.
soak: 2d10 ⇒ (9, 10) = 19
Rory gets a glancing hit on his target.
knife slash at miles: 2d10 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8
The one being mobbed tries to slash at Miles again.
The one fighting Rory turns and runs back through the door, leaving his ally to his fate.
"The test subjects are awake."
Miles should keep rolling to resist frenzy, you need to build up a total of 5 successes and if I read things correctly each round you use one success to hold off the frenzy."
Miles Thorne |
Round 2 Self Control: 3d10 ⇒ (5, 5, 1) = 11 1 more net success!
Miles' rage keeps building, nearly to a boiling point... but he somehow manages to hold himself back.
Round 3: Actions
Pursue the fleeing combatant!
"Oh, no. You don't get off that easy for what you did to me!" He snarls before throwing himself after the fleeing man...

Damage (Weapon, Bonus, Strength, Potence): 1d10 + 1d10 + 2d10 + 1d10 ⇒ (10) + (6) + (5, 1) + (8) = 30 2 Successes!
Resisting Frenzy: 2 successes so far, need 3 more to maintain control.
Round 3 Self-Control: 3d10 ⇒ (4, 6, 4) = 14 Control maintained!
Rory Dunsirn |
Rory charged in after Miles his club still in his hand. His celerity increasing his speed somewhat and he moved to close quickly swinging for the back of the head of the foe. "Get back here!" he called out in a snarl.
5d10 ⇒ (10, 3, 2, 6, 5) = 26[2 Strength,2 Melee, 1 Potence]
[Just realized a Club is Strength +2]
2d10 ⇒ (3, 7) = 10
[5 Successes]
Edit: Should I roll for Frenzy?
Henry Aketer |
Round 2
Henry presses on the one in front of him emboldened by the skill of his comrades, well compared to his meager skill anyway.
Dexterity + Celerity 3d10 ⇒ (5, 6, 1) = 12
Damage + Potence 3d10 ⇒ (9, 5, 3) = 17
Yet again, Henry is really just flailing as you can't call what he is doing fighting to be sure.
Billy Hawkins |
"Too many cooks in the kitchen I suppose..." Billy says as he chases off after the fleeing robed figure, swinging his club.
Clubbing Attack (Dex + Melee + Celerity): 3d10 + 2d10 + 1d10 ⇒ (4, 8, 9) + (10, 3) + (7) = 41 4 successes
Damage (Str + 2 + Potence + extra successes): 9d10 ⇒ (5, 3, 9, 1, 7, 5, 1, 4, 6) = 41 1 success...sheesh all these dice and all this mediocrity...

[5 Successes]Edit: Should I roll for Frenzy?
Remember to hit in Melee is Dex+Melee. Damage is extra successes+Str+Potence+weapon mod. Are you using your celerity to get a second action, if the answer is yes then you need to start checking for frenzy.
Browman |
Rory's damage Str+Potence+weapon+extra successes: 8d10 ⇒ (1, 6, 5, 5, 2, 4, 1, 8) = 32
The blow seems like it should be on target to brain the robed man, but he shifts his head out of the way at the last moment.
He continues moving down the hallway, reaching the bottom of the stairs.
"To arms, the subjects are free!"
The other one tries to attack Henry. dex+melee- wound penalties: 2d10 ⇒ (8, 8) = 16
damage: 4d10 ⇒ (6, 4, 1, 7) = 18 1 damage
Henry gets slashed across his torso. He can try to soak and realizes that he has become tougher from the ritual as well. He gains 1 dot of fortitude
Miles Thorne |
Round 4: Actions
Smash the fleeing enemy!
Miles tightens his grip on his club before swinging at the fleeing man again. He's rapidly growing frustrated with how slippery the bastard is.

Soak 3d10 + 1d10 ⇒ (3, 3, 5) + (5) = 16
Henry gasps as the blade slashes him across the chest. Yet for some reason the pain is not as terrible as he thought it would be. The excitement of my first fight perhaps?
He lashes out with two strikes of his own.
Melee Attack - Table Leg 1d10 + 1d10 ⇒ (4) + (6) = 10 Finally almost landing a blow!
Melee Attack - Table Leg 1d10 + 1d10 ⇒ (10) + (1) = 11 His confidence in his growing abilities is short lived though as his backswing misses.

Browman wrote:The first one is a hit.Should I roll damage? I got the sense you wanted to roll damage and socktogether.
I would prefer if you guys roll damage, I have a couple times for people to keep things moving. But if you guys roll the damage I can't be blamed when the RNG gods fail you.
Browman |
Billy's table leg shatters into several pieces as he hits the edge of the stairs.

You can hear people moving upstairs.

Round 5: Actions
Grab the downed bad guy's gun and any ammo he has on him!
Miles doesn't waste any time once one of his captors is brought low--he grabs the man's gun and starts running through his clothes, looking for loose ammo.

Miles finds ammo and power for 6 shots.
Henry Aketer |
Henry should be panting but he isn't, What in bloody hell is going on!
"Do any of you feel... odd.
At any rate, I daresay that you have more experience with such things Bill. Negotiating contracts, operating cotton mills, finance these are the things I know. But I fear none of that will aid us in the here and now..."
Miles Thorne |
Miles pumps his fist in relief as he finds spare ammunition in his kidnapper's coat.
"Alright, seems we have a couple of plays here. We can go up the stairs and try and escape and deal with however many are up there or we can wait down here and use the stairs as a choke point and kill the bastards one by one. What you lot think?"
Miles' eyes dart around to the top of the stairs. "I'd be happy with just running for it, honestly."
"Do any of you feel... odd?"
"Could you define 'odd', sir?" Miles turns to the well-to-do chap while fiddling with his gun, trying to load it with shaking hands. "Because... well, I don't know how I can explain it, but I just felt extremely angry. Like I was on the verge of snapping or something."
Rory Dunsirn |
Rory got up and he looked down to the man and he looked up the stairs. "We should go, if we let them bottle us down here they could trap us, they had to have something to knock me out before." he said, adding to the information they had. "I feel odd too, but I say we worry about that when we get out of here."
Browman |
You advance up the stairs when you arrive at the top you see more stairs heading to a second floor and a hallway. You can see a door at the end of the hallway, there are 2 doors off each side of the hallway. All the walls and floor are stone. You can still hear movement coming from rooms down the hallway.
Henry Aketer |
"I'll bet the end of that hallway is the way out. We will face enemies no doubt. Has one of you the pistol from our earlier fracas? Either way we need to move and quickly they already now we are free!"
He begins to sprint towards the end of the hall and freedom.
Henry holds the bloody dagger at his side knuckles white he is holding it so hard.
Rory Dunsirn |
Rory followed the others up, he still clung to the club in his hand and he looked around as they got to the hall as he was trying to be quiet. In a whisper only intended for the three others. "We need to be fast and quiet, that one was screaming for backup, they could be coming at any moment." he watched Henry sprint toward the end and he followed with the group, worried they where gonna be pinched.
