Inam Smithrock |
Wiping her eyes, she looks to Ibinu. "An bhfuil ... an bhfuil tú cinnte? Is maith sin ansin." Looking back to the pair of oreads, she inquires "So...other than something about me being a 'key' of some kind...any idea why that's not dead anymore? Also, with the carvings on their bodies, are we sure it's a good idea to give them their 'Key'?"
Pausing a moment, she smiles. "My solid gal pal...you didn't respond to So Khong's death. I would have thought that would please you."
"Are...are you sure? That's good then."
Kallik Sisa |
Going as still as the oread in her arms for one heart beat, then two. Staring at the still elen and then quickly moving a hand to her neck, hoping to feel a pulse while mumbling, "No, no, no, no, no." Over and over the words rapidly pour out her green tinted lips.
Heal to see if she just died in my arms tonight: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Kallik Sisa |
Falling silent as realization settles in. Running her hand across the now fully dead oreads face before scooping her up and putting her back on the pedestal she was once resting on. Not taking her eyes off the dead oread but trying to speak above a mumble, "Than... Thank you... For the tears."
Ibinu Kemish |
Ibinu looks morosely at Kallik, "I'm sorry we lost her. At least it looked like she was finally at peace."
He moves over to put his hand on her shoulder, sees the bloody claw marks and with a quick draw hands an elixir to Kallik. "Drink this, we will need you at full strength if we are to track the other three down. Did she say anything while we were gone?"
CLW Elixir (1d8+4)
Kallik Sisa |
Taking the elixir but not lifting it to her lips yet, "She said her siblings fell though a door and she had to find them. Then she asked about my lack of flowers. When I asked about her siblings again she started to talk and then starting screaming."
Still staring at the now dead oread but lifting the vial to her lip and drinking it. The gashes on her neck no longer bleeding and scabbing over. "She can.. cannot stay here and we need to find the others."
CLW: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
"Is Bian back with.." Glancing back at Ibinu and Inam, "Are you alright?"
Ibinu Kemish |
Oh yeah, I meant to make a post! Whoops!
Ibinu interrupts the grieving and wallowing in self-pity with a reminder. "Hey, we still have three of these things out there. And if this one is any indication they are all probably going to start hurting people. I suggest we try to find them and leave a note for Bian as to what we are doing."
Kallik Sisa |
Assuming Inam shares everything. But if not than ignore. Staring wide eyed at Inam's explanation, "He was a monster and you are very worthy. But we should let someone know about that."
Shifting her gaze to Ibinu, "I would rather let Bian and the inquisitor know. I don't trust a note to cover all of this."
My vote is letting Bian know about So Khong and the missing bodies. And to better secure this one just in case.
Inam Smithrock |
Inam would share. Been a rough weekend. Sorry for being MIA
"Yes, let's find Bian and her mentor. They should be made aware...shoot. Her mentor may have just gotten promoted..." replies the sylph.
Inam would see logic in tellimg Bian and her inquisitors first. But she won't wait long before letting the world know she killed So Khong
High Servant of Volcano |
You remember the way to Inquisitor Lý Văn Sinh's quarters - after nearly a full rite living in the Temple, you feel that you are finally finding your way around.
It is slightly surreal to see mediators, priests, and citizens making their way through the narrow hallways, knowing that So Khong's body is slowly cooling on an obsidian floor, and that dusty corpses could be killing elens at this very moment. The normality of a clumsy young ifrit dropping an armload of ashbread is nearly maddening.
The door to Lý Văn Sinh's chamber is open a crack, and you hear a sharp bang as you approach, as if something has been knocked over.
You see Bian, held off her feet in a chokehold by the male undine corpse. Lý Văn Sinh lies still in a pool of blood on the opposite side of the room.
Kallik Sisa |
Quietly trailing along with Inam and Ibinu but not really paying attention to where they are going. She killed So Khong. He was evil, did he do that to the others? What does that mean for us? "I am going to need to check on Egr.." Turning her head at the noise and pushing the door open.
Growling and moving into the room. Trying to keep her boiling anger over everything that is going wrong under control the world narrows to the hand gripping Bian throat, imaging that it is Egrets neck. The familiar fury races though her veins. Rushing towards the undine and trying tackle him.
Grapple check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Ibinu Kemish |
Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Ibinu yells out, "Inam, do something! They seem to have a weakness to you or at least listen to you. Get it to stop... one way or another!"
Inam Smithrock |
Init: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Spying the scene before them, In am screams "Stop it! Just Stop!"
As her eyes settle on the fallen inquisitors, ahe rushes towards him, babbling "No, no, no, no,..." snaking a hand towards the fallen man, a familiar burst of light jolts thjrough his body.
LoH: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 5) = 10
Kallik Sisa |
Init: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 Going to maintain the grapple for the time being.
Tightening her grasp around the undine and ignoring anything but the need to keep anyone else from being hurt.
High Servant of Volcano |
Surprise round was Kallik grappling the thing
Round 1 So Far
Inam heals Bian's mentor with a flash of light. The inquisitor's still body shudders, and begins breathing again. He is still unconscious, but he is alive.
Kallik, I need a grapple check (CMB) with the +5 circumstance bonus for succeeding in the grapple last round.
Ibinu, depending on what happens with Kallik's roll, the thing will either be grappled (if she succeeds) or not (if she fails). Let me know what you are planning to do for this round.
The thing will act last, and that also depends on Kallik's roll.
Ibinu Kemish |
Ibinu will ready an action, depending on the enemy's response to Inam.
Ranged Touch Attack + PBS: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 7 + 1 = 25 for Electric Damage + PBS: 2d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3, 6) + 4 + 1 = 14 and Dazzled for: 1d4 ⇒ 1 rounds.
Dazzled: The creature is unable to see well because of overstimulation of the eyes. A dazzled creature takes a –1 penalty on attack rolls and sight-based Perception checks.
Ibinu Kemish |
Ibinu shouts at the creature, "Stop!" and then suggests, "Kallik, pin it's arms down so it can't hurt anyone else, otherwise I'll have to take it out!" His hand fiddles with his alchemical components as he says the last part.
(he keeps his readied action from before)
Kallik Sisa |
Nearly yelling the undine's face, "Dừng ngay đi! Chúng tôi đã giúp người khác."
Would it be considered grappled or can I pin it? I have never done anything with pin?
High Servant of Volcano |
Kallik, since you succeeded with your CMB, you can choose to pin (instead of dealing damage with your grapple). It is pinned, and I will update later tonight.
Ibinu, if you want: you can take a move action to get the vial of tears from Kallik's pouch and a standard action to apply them, since the creature is pinned.
Ibinu Kemish |
I will do that. I’m interested to see what will happen.

Round 1 Results
Inam heals Bian's mentor with a flash of light. The inquisitor's still body shudders, and begins breathing again. He is still unconscious, but he is alive.
Kallik flexes her biceps and jerks the undine's arms behind its back, rendering it almost completely immobile. A dusty gasp of pain escapes from dry blue lips.
Ibinu takes the vial from Kallik's pouch, upends the vial above the corpse's face, and...
A frog-croak fly-buzz of a note lurches out of the undine's open mouth. The discordant sound vibrates unpleasantly in all of your chests. Ibinu, the tears within your vial do not fall out. A moment later, icy spikes burst out of the vial, covering your hand in shards of glass.
Ibinu, 1 cold damage and 4 piercing damage
A deep voice, issuing from a sepulchral throat, says, "Tất cả những kẻ phản bội phải trả tiền! Bước sang một bên hoặc chết!"
All of the traitors must pay! Step aside or die!
Inam Smithrock |
Seeing the man begin to breathe, Inam lets out her breath. Jumping in surprise, she remarks "Oh, didn't realize I was holding that in..."
Looking towards the pinned creature, she frowns. "Why must you do such things? Just surrender so we can save you!"
Cast Detect Evil as a move
Drawing her blade as she steps forward, the sylph finds herself next to Ibinu. "We only want to help. Don't make this worse, please."
Kallik Sisa |
Keeping her grip but hearing the glass shatter she growls in the undines ear, "Họ đã làm gì? Nếu họ thực sự có tội tôi sẽ di chuyển nhưng anh chị em của bạn giống như tôi không muốn đổ máu. Cô ấy chỉ muốn tìm tất cả các bạn."
Kallik has no plans for violence. Would the adrenaline keep her rage going with all the talking? Either option is cool with me.
High Servant of Volcano |
The undine turns its opaque white stare toward Inam. In highly accented Common, it intones, "You talk of helping, cháu ơi. I sense the blood of an inquisitor on your hands," he points at your sword, "so help me rid the world of another of their hư order."

Kallik, the undine really isn't struggling right now, so you can dial back the adrenaline if you choose to do so.
Ibinu Kemish |
Ibinu hops back and almost throws a bomb, but sees his allies trying discourse... again.
He sighs and brushes the shards of ice and glass off his clothes. He will let the discussion play out but is still ready to throw a bomb if the enemy attacks again.
Inam Smithrock |
Turning her gaze back to inquisitors, she focuses on the fallen man.
Detect Evil on inquisitor
"I...I did end one this night. I wish there had been another option. Your anger seems righteous. Any chance you are taking it out on the wrong people?"
Ibinu Kemish |
Ibinu, unusually quiet till this point speaks up. "Revenge won't solve the harm in your soul, it only begets more revenge and more innocents harmed. What good would killing inquisitors bring? It would only make them martyrs for whatever cause they support and maybe lead to even more subjects being treated like you. We need to expose and stop only those who were involved, not kill all just because of some."
Inam Smithrock |
Considering the words of the undead elen, Inam looks down to her blade. Frowning, she asks "Who was the foe that took you down? And why do I keep getting called a key? What does this mean?"
Eyeing the creature with pity, she awaits it's answer.
High Servant of Volcano |
He shakes his head. He speaks quickly, and his undine accent thickens. "I do not know name. But, another of the folk who turned traitor to be with Volcano. He have, ahh, big glasses. Just him - then I'm at peace."
He looks at Inam. "You are a follower of Warrior like she was, yes? Then follow his edict and Slay Evil with me!"
Inam Smithrock |
Nodding absentmindedly at the creatures words, Inam kneels. Digging her two pamphlets out of her pack, the elen frowns, staring at them. "I...yes. Though not worthy, I am trying." she mumbles.
Glancing towards Etrah, she pleads "You're my herald. Guide me!"
Etrah |
"BraWk!" replies the bird, shaking it's head. Visibly annoyed, it flutters over to the sylph and knocks one of the books from her hand. Pecking at the pages, it settles on a page and waddles towards the undead creature.
"Caw, Bukaw. braWK Cah." it remarks with a nod. Glancing back to the paladin, Etrah stands still, tapping it's left foot as it awaits the dimwit's faculties to catch up.
High Servant of Volcano |
Understanding Etrah perfectly, the undine nods. Without further comment, the undine flexes his body in a strange, fluid manner and escapes from Kallik's grip.
He points at Etrah and claps. "Yes! It is decided!" He grabs a generic priest's robe from a rack near the door, quickly dons the robe, then walks out to the hallway.
Kallik Sisa |
Leaning back and staring at her hands in confusing then glancing up at the undine. Standing up and looking back at Bian, "Please keep quiet about this."
Moving over to Inam, "They seem to listen better to you. I need to find Eo before we go into this madness. Please, I need to make sure Egret is safe."
