"Lachen is heading down, hang in there!" Lenneth calls desperately to her friends. Then, hearing Ashleigh's screams coming from the west, she hesitates for a moment before closing her eyes and focusing on an image of Skyfall and the way the great creature soars majestically through the skies. But then the image changes...instead of Skyfall, she now pictures herself...

Opening her eyes, Lenneth rises from the ground and begins to cleave through the sky as though she's always belonged there, heading towards the source of the screams.

Activating the Fly aspect of the Flight hex! Functions as per the spell, duration is 1 minute per level so 5 minutes. Right now she's going to fly above the trench, rather than down into it.

Lenneth: regarding the flight hex...can fly, as per the spell, for a number of minutes per day equal to her level. These minutes do not need to be consecutive, but they must be spent in 1-minute increments. This hex only affects the witch. So 5 mins max/day, used in 1 min increments.

Lion!Melo's attacks completely decimate the zombies next to him, shredding them in to ribbons of flesh.

Lenneth rises in to the air and soars across the trench, now able to see how large it is, however with no light source she is unable to see anything...

Whilst dancing lights can be moved without concentration, all 4 lights must remain within 10 ft of each other, so presumed you didn't want to leave the rest of the party in darkness by moving the lights.

Lachen: Unless otherwise advised, north is up on my maps so west is to the right hand side

I'm very bad at directions myself, so i'm glad my wife is way better than me with a map.^^

Gah, I got my own directions mixed up, sorry Lachen >.<

The screams are clearly *clearly* coming from the East...

Yeah, Lenneth isn't going to deprive her friends of their light source; she'll figure out some other way to see into the trench hehe. Also can we assume that she heads toward the sound of the screams, whichever direction they come from? Otherwise I think a bit of this is in order as she flies around in a whirl of confusion and night-blindness :P

Mentally cursing her human eyesight, Lenneth has no choice but to hover in the air as she digs out a torch and the flint and tinder to light it with.

Lighting a torch will take a full-round action, I think. I know it won't be super for illumination, but I figure next round she can fly lower into the trench but still be out of reach of the zombies (I hope).

If my calculs are good, I should be 5 feet from the ground now... (50-15 on first round-30 on second round)
Can I drop to the ground safely?

Lachen: you can easily have dropped that last few feet as a free action with no checks required etc, you can go ahead and take your action based on your location on the trench floor

ValexBot slashes and stabs as he back up, and one of the zombies facing him collapses as he backs up the corridor.

Under her control, Lilith's lights spread out to try and provide illumination for everyone in the party despite their being far apart.

Melo moves eastwards towards the screams, and as Lilith's lights assist his animal vision he can see groaners to both east and south, the groaner to the south seems busy with something, but the emaciated ones to the east turn and look at the lion with hunger in their eyes.

The two zombies near Melo move towards him, but with their standard slow pace their methodical steps leave little time for them to attack before the druid is ready for them.

Lenneth, You did see that the DM had Lilith cast her own dancing lights, right. You might need a torch, but not to see by as you can now move your lights.

Warning Valex Lilith explains as she casts her own mage armor spell There are two zombies in that pit to the west that will soon be free, unless they both took bad falls. That is doubtful.

Since I posted it, I'll go ahead and let it stand that Lenn lit the torch but yes, I'll have her move her lights next round too. Welcome back by the way!

Lachen's brutal attack thunks satisfyingly in to the zombie's back, and it slumps over and stops moving, evidently no longer animated. Lachen notes that it has slumped over someone lying on the floor, and there is a flash of white eyes further back in the darkness, Lachen swears he hear whimpering...

Lenneth's torch illuminates the trench floor as she swoops low, revealing an uneven earthern floor literally scattered with bones.

Melo's jaws clamp down on a filthy and rancid tasting torso, even as his claw lashes out to rake the rest of the horrid thing. It goes limp in his jaws.

The second zombie uses the opportunity and moves forward, swinging its fists in a flurry and landing a lucky hit on the druid dealing 5 damage

ValexBot raises his arm and a blast of white energy powers down his arm and splashes across the zombie in front of him, wreathing it and dropping it to the floor. He proceeds to move past Lilith with an almost apologetic shrug

Pit or not we have to stick together!

As the hours tick by, there is still no movement in the village. Either the denizens there are extremely careful or the place is long since abandoned. In which case why were those four survivors so interested?

He grunts both in discomfort in his hammock and in consternation at the whole thing. He looks up to see the moon hanging fat in the sky and guesses that the others must only be hours away now. In fact, they are so close that if they chose to press on, they would likely be here by dawn.

You know what, girl, I don't think there's anything else to see from up here. And they should really know that this place is being watched. What do you think about heading back instead of freezing our tails off up here? Sound good? Ok, girl let's go.

Now....

Flynn heads north, using the bright twinkling stars as his guide. Flying at night was always a strange, nervous experience. The ground below was bathed in a pale, silvery light from the moon which always gave it an otherwordly appearance. He knew that Skyfall wasn't a night hunter either and she was always more twitchy in the darkness, straining her own vision for both predators and prey.

But then he sees something he didn't expect, the bright glow of light - both magical and the flame of a torch. He banks Skyfall toward it and encourages her to open her wings, loosening his lance in its harness just in case.

As he sweeps over he sees a series of wide chasms in the field below, like terrible gashes. Figures move quickly back and forth along the edges but most worryingly is the fact he can make out the staccato movements of zombies down below, and is that Valex down there....? Yes!

Flynn cradles Sender, his lance, and sweeps back around, searching the surface for faces he recognises.

Oh god...how long has this trench been here and what has it been used for besides a trap?

Though she cannot see them now from her position in the trench, Lenneth can hear the sounds of combat and of her companions nearby. Before she had descended, she thought she had seen the flare of additional lights - most likely Lilith's magic being brought to bear. Knowing that she's taking a risk, she wills her own magical lights to move and light up the area that she approaches, from where she can still hear screams...

Lenneth is going to keep moving north and around the corner.

Flynn can see a small, huddled group of the tribe (perhaps 10 or so?) on the edge of the rift in the earth, and various lights in the trench itself reveal his companions fighting the undead. Consider it one round's worth of dive-bombing from Skyfall to end up anywhere on the map you wish

Lilith's spell causes a bright flash that distracts the zombie slightly, the energy itself barely causing it to react as it makes contact.

Lachen shoves the corpse out of the way, revealing the body the groaner was feasting on. The remnants of her face are vaguely identifiable, and as the warrior looks up in to the darkness he sees the face of Sacha's boy, mutely weeping as he looks at Lachen imploringly.

As Lenneth rounds the corner, her lights spiralling away in front of her to illuminate the wider area, she immediately sees Ashleigh and Tabitha fighting for their lives. Ashleigh seems to have a broken leg and Tabitha is doing her best to fend off the groaners. Lenneth can see Mallis across the way, trying to subdue a groaner himself.

"I need help! There's more this way, hold them back!" He growls out with his deep voice. Stepping forward and unleashing on the undead.

Bite: 1d20 + 3 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 4 + 1 = 14
Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 2 = 12
Claw: 1d20 + 3 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 3 + 4 + 1 = 23
Damage: 1d4 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 = 9
Claw: 1d20 + 3 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 3 + 4 + 1 = 18
Damage: 1d4 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 2 = 7
Haste Bite: 1d20 + 3 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 3 + 4 + 1 = 21
Damage: 1d4 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 = 9

Again unleashing a savage barrage of attacks.

Moves to w9

Lachen walks towards Melo... and sees four zombies

Sane people would run away.

Lachen grins.
Just what I needed.

In Lachen's mind, the zombies take the appearance of his companions

Look at them... How they are taunting and mocking you again... The slip comes back suddenly from his hidehole and got an hero's welcome when no one cares for you.. the elf uses her cursed magic on you.. the songbird still owns the magical sword, leaving you with this simple handaxe to defend yourself... Shouldn't they die?

The handaxe strikes, quickly and powerfully on the two nearest zombies
Handaxe, power attack: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 7 - 2 = 6
Dmg, PA: 1d6 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 4 = 11
Handaxe, power attack, Haste: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 7 - 2 = 20
Dmg, PA: 1d6 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 4 = 9
Handaxe, power attack, cleave: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 7 - 2 = 21
Dmg, PA: 1d6 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 4 = 9

Not sure If I can use Cleave, as the first attack missed but the Hasted one hit. If I can Cleave, Ac is 17 (18-2 Cleave+1 Haste), AC is 19 (18+1 Haste) if I can't cleave
