DM Kludde |
Feel free to change your action if you want, Xuxo. We're still waiting for an action from Race...
Xuxo |
Sorry, I got confused, because it said I could use sneak attack with a ranged weapon as long as I was within 30 ft, but you're right, flanking only effects melee. No sneak attack. And dropping my bow, and drawing my kusarigama or wakizashi is a move action, I didn't have time to flank and attack. Do you mean drop, draw, then attack, and worry about flanking later? The kusarigama only has a ten foot reach, I'd have to move anyway. I'll just shoot him from here, and switch later.
RETCON
Xuxo doesn't move before firing his bow. All rolls are the same, only there's no sneak attack bonus.
He then puts his bow away, preparing for a melee attack.
DM Kludde |
Marixite and Pellius focus their attack on Race Let us through! Let us out of here!. They seem to be a bit panicked by the statue and their inability to hit Race.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
The little Jinkin reloads his crossbow and another bolt whizzes past Xuxo

Scimitar: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 61d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 +1 if Kaylee is performing again.
Kaylee Sharpston |
Kaylee continues to root for her teammates. She also casts unwitting ally on the guy to the south. DC 16 Will save or he is treated as an ally of Rafiki for one round, giving him a flanking bonus against the other one.
DM Kludde |
Any particular action, Race?
Kaylee casts her spell just afterRafiki makes a wild swing that fails to connect. Marixite distracts and nudges Pellius, offering a good striking opportunity to Rafiki. On his next turn

Xuxo, with the weapon you either go for damage, trip, or grapple, but not all of them (unless there's something I'm missing). I'm assuming you're going for damage
Xuxo lashes out at the sniping jinkin, and kills him outright with a flash of steel.
Race delays, but the panicked sewer-crawlers still think it is too crowded, and they keep attacking Race with their quarterstaffs, only to make plonking sounds on his armour.

Sorry, misread that rule. I couldn't have moved over to the jinkin and drawn my weapon, those are both move actions, I was going for a grapple on the human nearest Rafiki and I. That said, if you want to leave things how they are, I'm totally cool with a one hit kill to the thing that's actually got a chance to hurt us.
The jinkin out of the way, Xuxo attempts to trip Pellius with the sickle end of the kusarigama.
Trip: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 4 + 1 = 19
Kaylee Sharpston |
Kaylee will continue performing, saving her spells for more dangerous creatures.

Intimidate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
DM Kludde |
And flanking, due to unwitting ally. And prone
Rafiki hacks away at Pellius, who is an easy target due to the distraction caused by Mairixite, and the fact that he's lying on his back.
Pellius tries to get up, and then attacks Rafiki
Attack, Rafiki: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 191d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
while Marixite attacks Race
Attack, Race: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 231d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Kaylee keeps encouraging, and demoralises the unfortunate Marixite with her vicious talk.

Standing up gives Xuxo, Race, and I aoo, right? If so, I will give that roll.
Taking an open opportunity, Rafiki strikes at Pellius again.
Scimitar with encouragement: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 2 + 1 = 211d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 1 = 4
Crit Confirm?: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 2 + 1 = 121d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 1 = 7
On Rafiki's turn, he will strike at Pellius again if he is still trying to attack.
Scimitar with encouragement: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 2 + 1 = 121d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 1 = 5
DM Kludde |
Indeed, Xuxo, Race and Rafiki all get to roll an AoO. Rafiki also gets to take a regular (just like everyone else). If you take him out before he can stand up, the hit of Rafiki is nullified.
Rafiki takes the opportunity to strike as Pellius lets his guard down.

Seeing that they aren't standing down, Race growls again and swings the edge of his blade at Pellius.
Scimitar: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 1 = 8
Apparently, his heart just wasn't in it.
Xuxo |
As Pellius tries rising from the ground, Xuxo swings the weight of his weapon around to discourage that activity.
AoO: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 1 = 20
On his turn...
Xuxo slices at Pellius with the sickle, and spins and hits him with the weight.
Attack (Sickle; Weight): 1d20 + 4 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 1 - 2 = 191d20 + 4 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 1 - 2 = 21
Damage (Sickle; Weight): 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 21d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Sneak Attack Damage (Sickle; Weight): 2d6 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2
DM Kludde |
Pellius tries to get up, but he is surrounded and vulnerable. His head still ringing from Rafiki's strike, Xuxo's attack proves too much for him, and he collapses to the floor.
Pellius! Marixite shouts, then looks at the adventurers, eyes open even wider I'll get you tricking lot!
So, that last hit on Rafiki never happened. Rafiki, you still have a regular action

"If you stop fighting I can do my job and keep him from dying. I am more a healer than a fighter and I can heal with a touch, but I won't do that for an enemy if I am going to be attacked for it." Rafiki growls at Marixite.
As a standard action, Rafiki can stabilize a dying creature with just a touch.
DM Kludde |
Okay, okay. I surrender, if you help him. But don't use any more magic on us!
Merixite is clearly impressed by the party's prowess - and he keeps eyeing the rat statue, fearing it will come alive again.
Combat over
-Rafiki- |
Quickly, Rafiki bends down to touch Pellius. Light flashes from between Rafiki's fingertips and Pellius' body and it can be seen that Pellius is no longer struggling to breathe and his wounds have stopped bleeding.
"All right, Pellius should be fine now. He is only unconscious but you should take him topside and get him fully healed. May Sarenrae guide you to her light."
DM Kludde |
Thanks.. Merixite stammers and sorry for the confusion.
If you're going down there he point to the sewer pipe form where he emerged [/b]then be careful. The refuse supports a lot of fungi and strange plants. Some of them feed on flesh...[/b]
He then takes up his companion, and gets out of there.
DM Kludde |
The statue is inert, and has no traces of magic. It seems like that Jinkin was just pranking with you.
DM Kludde |
The pipe leads into another sewer tunnel, which continues on, then comes at a junction where one side leads to a dead end, while the other side continues eastward.
Fallen rubble from an earlier excavation clogs the channel, slowing the water flow and accumulating a mass of sewage on one side. A thick carpet of moss and fungus-clearly representing a wide variety of green, blue, and ochre-colorer specimens-sprawls across the top of the debris and hangs from the ceiling, with several larger mounds of fungus clinging to the walls or stemming from the hole to the east. Wispy blue tendrils descend from the ceiling and almost touch the water (Indicated with 'H'), creating a thin, eerie curtain of plant matter.
Kaylee Sharpston |
"EWWWWWWW!!! Why does everything in the sewer have to be so GROSS! I think that stuff hanging down there might be dangerous... does anyone know anything about fungus? I, personally, stay away from the stuff if I an help it."
Man, I really wish I had used a few more of her skill points on Knowledges, gave up Bardic Knowledge for my archetype. LOL
DM Kludde |
Xuxo observes nothing in addition to the hanging fungus overgrowth.
Anyone with a K(Nature) check?
-Rafiki- |
"We can only assume that since we don't see any other fungus or plants besides this hanging fungus, this is the flesh-eater. Does anyone have a torch or something to burn it down?"
Sadly, I only have knowledge (religion).
DM Kludde |
As Race moves up at the overhanging fungus, a strange creature, with mismatched eyes, a head like a mushroom cap and an overlarge maw with pale fungal teeth, steps up and says
Wait! What are you doing to my garden?
-Rafiki- |
Seeing that the thing is actually trying to communicate, Rafiki assumes that the little mushroom doesn't mean any harm. He tries to communicate back to the fun guy with gestures and all the languages he knows that they just want to get past the carpet and drapes of greenery without any damage done...if possible.
DM Kludde |
Sense motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
The creature seem to understand Rafiki up to a certain extent, though it doesn't seem to be too convinced about his sincerity.
You can try and make a single diplomacy check to negotiate passage, though the language barrier adds a penalty
DM Kludde |
I suppose it all comes down to Kaylee's roll now...
