Bio:
Xuxo (pronounced "shoo-show") grew up in a frontier settlement nestled in one of the valleys of The World's Edge Mountains. He was brought up by his father Bernardino along with his younger twin siblings Jordana and Patrício. His family lived off the small piece of land his father owned, farming for sustenance as much as income.
As a kid, his father was always proud of him, a bit wild, but always doing what needed to be done to help with the farming and the twins. Never once complaining, because he knew that since his mother died, it was his responsibility. At age 12, he even manipulated a loathsome young merchant woman into letting his friend off with a warning when he'd stolen some food--after he'd returned it of course.
At age 16, he and his true love Romola were kidnapped by Chelish slavers. The slavers had just conned a few homeless Galtans into slavery, and were headed back to Cheliax to sell them. The Chelish were taking a little known path through The Edge, while Xuxo & Romola were racing to see who could first make it to the bottom of a treacherous mountainside to the north of the settlement. Xuxo's bronze complexion and wine-colored hair, and Romola's figure made the slavers think they would fetch a high price at market, so the slavers kidnapped the adolescent thrill-seekers. Little did they know that mountain-racing wasn't the only thrill Xuxo chased: in the middle of the night he broke them out of their manacles--having been pranked into more than one animal trap by the twins--and escaped! But not before setting the Galtans loose to exact their revenge.
However, in all the fighting between the slaves and the slavers, Romola's head was badly wounded. When he got her to safety, and her health returned, she could not remember who he was, and wanted nothing to do with him. Her father encouraged that behavior, seeing Xuxo as the reason for her injury.
From that point forward, Xuxo became a very morose and quiet man. He vowed to discipline his body and mind so that he would never be in a position like that again. He vowed further that he would discipline his fighting skills and become a force for good, so that if in the future, he was in that position again, he could combat it himself, rather than resort to unleashing such a chaotic force.
And so, he began his trek to find a local legend. An old man from Tian Xia who lived high in one of the nearby mountains, a former assassin for one of the eastern civilizations who came to Taldor to find refuge from his enemies.
Using his knowledge of the land, it didn't take him long to find the make-shift home of Mizushima-Sensei, or simply "Sensei" as Xuxo came to know him. In return for teaching him how to cultivate various foods even high in the mountains, Sensei taught Xuxo the art of stealth, infiltration, the chain, the shuriken, and the blade. In two years time, Sensei believed Xuxo was ready to learn from experience that which Sensei was certain would make him a better shinobi than Sensei could alone.
