Lilia Sori |
"Just throw it, I guess? I know for sure I can't stab all of them to death."
Lilia looks at her other allies. "Unless anyone else has a better idea?"
Lynn Kuro |
Lynn looked back to the monkey trees, "Hold on.. that plant back there.. I've got an idea."
Lynn wandered back to the Monkey tree and looked at the bark, "Could someone cut a large piece of this free if memory serves right, this bark should produce a spiced scent. We might be able to use it to ward away the ants, assuming these kind don't like strong scents."
She looked to the ants, "Oh and hold your noses it may be very strong."
Gunther Tamiir-Quah |
"As ashamed as I am to admit it, I will be of little help her, except perhaps to keep someone foolish enough to engage the pest alive for a while longer. Perhaps it would simply be wiser to go around, and leave them to their meal?"
Lilia Sori |
Lilia unsheathes one of her swords as she walks up to tree, and cuts off a piece of bark. She grabs the bark and tosses it on the ground near the corpse.
"Well, let's see what happens," she mutters as she sheathes her sword.
Lynn Kuro |
Lynn placed a hand over her nose pinching it hoping that this would end well for them all without destroying the corpse even more.
Lynn Kuro |
did the scent stay or did it fade after a little.
Lynn frowned, "I just don't want to destroy the body too much. We can fight if we must."
Maanyatha |
Do we have among us those blessed with the powers of the gods? she asks. If we need someone to smash these ants if they attack, I can do that while the rest retreat. I may require healing after that.
Lynn Kuro |
Lynn cleared her throat before motioning for Sharimus to throw the alchemist's fire. "We need to get moving so let's do this." She started up a chant.
Bardic performance 1/9
GM Carla |
Lynn and Sharimus peformed their actions in the surprise round.
Lynn pumps it up while Sharimus throws his vial, missing. The splash damage, however, manages to anger the ants, who attack!

You can move off the map if you want to, the path basically stretches on for miles the way the map is presented.
Sharimus Dallanos |
Sharimus shifts forward a step. He draws a second flask and prepares to strike at the swarm if attacked.
5ft step forward, draw flask as a move action and prepare a parry/riposte

"This is going to be. . . unwise. . ." as I dart forward, attempting to keep the rest of the team safe while placing a hand on one of my sacred tattoos.
Running directly into the swarm, "Get the body! FAST!"
Move, and Ready an Action to Channel Heal myself just before the world goes black.

"I'm not strong enough to drag it away, Gunther!" Lilia exclaims as she takes an alchemist's fire from her backpack and tosses it at the northwestern bit of the swarm.
Alchemist's Fire, IC: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 1 = 26 Fire damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Gunther charges ahead, attempting to distract the swarm from his teammates. All the while Sharimus is standing back a little, shaking his head. Lilia responds more adeaquately and rains hell on the ants, as well as Gunther.
Gunther is nauseated by a thousand stings, but manages to shake off their poison. He also takes 1 splash damage.
The swarm retaliates, dealing 1d6 ⇒ 3 damage to Gunther's arms and legs.

Lynn dashed forward towards the body getting a good grip on it before turning to pull it away from Gunther and the ant swarm. "You better not perish to a bunch of insects Gunther!"
not sure if inspire courage applies to item damage, but if so remember to add that. Double move to get to the body and 'pick it up' but more so i'm dragging cause i can't carry that XD.
Gunther Tamiir-Quah |
I'll hold off a bit on healing, hoping the Swarm dies before I undo all the damage done.
GM Carla |
I forgot to say, but the green parts are difficult terrain. Lynn would be taking a double move to get there.
Ghosting Maanyatha
The Nagaji dashes forward as well, grabbing an arm of the corpse and dragging it out of the swarm together with Lynn. The arm breaks off, much to the surprise of Maanyatha, who is now holding an ant-covered arm. It looks disgusting. The smell, strengthened by the humid air, is worse.

GM Carla |
The combined fire of Sharimus and Lilia is too much for the swarm, and it disperses. combat over!
The following gear lies in the undergrowth near the body: a rapier, a masterwork composite longbow, a potion of invisibility, a potion of cure moderate wounds, two oils of magic weapon, two sleep arrows, and two flasks of alchemist’s fire.
Lilia Sori |
Lilia pockets the two flasks of alchemist's fire. "In case there are more swarms."
"Anyone else wants the arrows? Else I'll just take them, because I have a bow."
Gunther Tamiir-Quah |
"If no one minds", picking up the potion of healing and bow to take a closer look, "I'll help myself to these." and then attempt to heal myself. I already have a +2 Str Composite Longbow, but if this one is +2 Masterwork, I'll go with that instead, (if not one minds).

Lynn dug through and examined the corpse a bit closer seeing if it matched any description they were given.

Not enough strength to make use of the bow and i've already got a rapier
GM Carla |
Everybody OK with Maanyatha taking the bow?
When Lynn searches the body, she finds a secret flap on its belt pouch. It contains a Note!
Soon, you travel onwards, having little reason to stay.
The floor of the ravine slopes downward slightly and the foliage overhead gradually thins. The ravine is wider here, and numerous boulders scattered throughout the area attest to steady erosion. Some of the boulders bear strange carvings and are even hewn into rough pillars, but they jut at odd angles out
from the landscape and don’t seem to be a part of any surviving structure. Nestled in the shadow of two such pillars is a shallow pit scraped out of the earth by some massive creature’s claws.
The nest contains several branches, the half-eaten body of a leather-clad humanoid, several broken shells, and five large, intact eggs. One egg seems to have been recently smashed, its contents missing. In the trampled foliage near the nest lies the corpse of a massive, bipedal dinosaur, its tooth-lined maw agape and its hide pierced with dozens of crude javelins.
Perception checks, please

Lynn looked at the scene confused she had no knowledge of the creature though she was sure she had heard or seen it in a book at one point though it was currently escaping her. She looked around for any signs of the aggressors speaking to the others in a hushed tone."There eggs, we can just snatch one.. or two and escape without anyone knowing the wiser assuming this was the parent. Be careful though I don't like the looks of this."
Gunther Tamiir-Quah |
Im ok with her taking the bow, however, if its a +2 Str bow, it would benefit both of us if I took it, and loaned her mine. I'd get a masterwork upgrade and she would get a +2 Str composite longbow for the scenario.
Also, it would probably be better for someone else, who can not heal, to take the healing potion, so I will give that up to whomever wants it.

I think it's just a masterwork composite bow without a strength upgrade, because the GM didn't mention the upgrade?
Heal: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2
Lilia shrugs. "Why don't we take all the eggs that are left?"
"We should be quick about it, though. I've seen bird species where both parents took care of the eggs. No idea if these things are like that..."
Gunther Tamiir-Quah |
Opening my pack to take out my blanket, hammock, sacks, and anything else i can use for padding, Ill grab two, stuffing them in my pack the best I can, or holding one if need be.
Lynn Kuro |
Lynn moved to kneel next to one of the eggs, "I guess it would be best to take them all. Don't want anything to happen to the little guys."
Moving her torches to the outside pockets of her bag as well as her soap and mirror Lynn squeezed an egg into her pack. Nestling her spare outfit around it for protection as well as latching the clasp to prevent it from falling out. After sliding her bag onto her back she stooped to pick up another cradling it in both of her arms.
"We should get back to the rope, everyone be on guard please."

Gunther Tamiir-Quah |
I'm a little confused with the Init/Surprise Round setup? If only Sharimus and I spotted danger, wouldn't it just be us in the Surprise round? Just curious, not asking to change it. Or is it that I aided Sharimus to be able to spot them at all. I guess that makes sense.
GM Carla |
Yeah, you aided him, that's why.
Confirm, Maanyatha: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
The Nagaji is first to move and charges, cutting the unaware lizardman in halve with a mighty critical hit from her Minkai polearm. The other lizardman hesitates and delays, shocked by what he sees.
Inspired by Lynn's motherly instincts, Sharimus calmly opens himself to an attack, radiating confidence. The lizardman, seething with hatred at the gruesome slaughter of his brother-in-arm, charges towards the elf with his morningstar in hand.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 + 2 = 11
The elf parries the attack in an almost bored fashion, opening up the lizardman's defenses to a swift thrust of his rapier. A guttural hiss follows as the lizardman coughs blood in Sharimus' face.
