Whoa. I was just coming to find out why everyone had been so quiet all week. Apparently my things stopped telling me there were new posts and I didn't think about checking it out. Sorry for that. I'll start working on catching up and then posting.

Herkymr, do you mean:
*No bladed weapon may be drawn with in city limits.
*No excessive drinking and providers of such intoxicants can be fined as well as the violator should this occur.
*Proof of Legitimacy must be with yo at all times and shown when asked by government officials.
*All purchases as sales are taxed 5% paid to the accounting house each Monday for city maintenance. Failure to pay taxes results in immediate revocation of license and seizure of property.
*Poisons are strictly forbidden for any reason including sale or purchase.
*All magic practitioners are required to register with a local guild immediately upon entering city. Failure to do so will result in a "band" being enchanted upon such practitioner that will prevent further use of magic. This can only be removed after registering with a guild of appropriate type and paying a hefty fine.

Here is the updated Combat rolls that now reflect correctly and the attacks have been generalized so they should work anywhere.
DM ROLL Request
Initiative1:: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Initiative2:: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Initiative3:: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

Initiative9:: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Initiative10:: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
As a swift action I will use Vanishing Trick on myself to become invisible. Then I will move off at an angle to the enemy finding somewhere that will conceal me but give me a vantage point to be able to sneak attack and ready my bow and notch an arrow. If there is no place to conceal myself will stop moving once outside the direct fighting space but still in sneak attack range of the enemy and ready my bow and arrow.
Stealth Movement checks: Dice roll is 1d20 + 27 (+10 Stealth Bonus, +20 Vanishing Trick Bonus if moving, +40 Vanishing Trick Bonus if standing still)
Stealth1:: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (5) + 30 = 35

Stealth9:: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (1) + 30 = 31
Stealth10:: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (5) + 30 = 35
Hurriedly I will backflip away from the attacker, given there is room, and retreat about 20 feet. Then try to find an obstruction of some kind to put between me and the attacker. If I am concealed behind the obstruction I will put away my bow and ready my nunchaku for attack. If there is nothing to hide behind at this point turn and draw another arrow if need be and aim at the attacker
Grab a thunder stone and throw it at the attacker, spend a Ki point to become invisible, and run the opposite direction about 15 feet away from attacker at an angle if possible, and try to find something to hide behind. Whether or not I find an obstruction to conceal myself, I will ready my bow and arrows.
grab a thunderstone and throw it straight up in the air about ten feet and run away from the attacker. Then as soon as the thunderstone goes off pull out the flask of shard gel and throw it in the direction of the attacker. If it is available I will us Vanishing Trick to turn invisible, then I will continue to run weaving back and forth to make myself a harder target until I have cleared the attack area by a block.

Shadara Windless |

I will not be able to post until next week. We are headed out of town tomorrow and will get back into the weekend. Please auto play me as needed Herk as you know alot about how I want to play the character.

Shadara Windless |

Been a very rough week for me. I did check to see if I needed to respond to anything on Tuesday evening but did not see anything. At this time with not knowing any of the new characters I am thinking that I will let Quinten do the talking and remain in "meditation".

Jerram |

I'm sorry about my absence as well. It's been daunting trying to catch up, but I was finally able to do it and post.

Jerram |

Oh yeah, and health for level:: 1d10 ⇒ 10

Shadara Windless |

Of course I get better rolls now.

I'm kind of loss atm. I don't know what I'd know about the laws and really what's going on.
Ask where you want the story to go. If you think it would be fun for Richard to get in trouble, assume he doesn't know about the laws or knows about them but doesn't have a coin and has to improvise. If you'd rather keep things simple, assume Janna was smart enough to give him a coin and explain some of the basics of living in Fifth Port. Alternately, Quinten might have covered them during some of our off-screen walking time.
Or perhaps Richard's civilization had similar coins. The idea had to start somewhere.
This is your story too. Help us direct it, as I did by assuming Quinten's dad was poisoned and as Shadara did by assuming the bustle in the Hall of Investigation reflected agitation rather than business as usual. That gives us all something interesting to react to and lets the game move at a much faster pace than it would if we had to roll and ask about everything.

Shadara Windless |

Thanks Herk, I have an idea of how i might write this little excursion and you note fits right in line. Hope you enjoy the little side venture I will be crafting over the next week.

--Kharn-- |

It's understandable to have writers block, but that's something that you need to communicate to the group. We don't know if you've decided to quit, or what. We could bounce ideas around and help you figure out a course of action you want to take but it needs to not happen after weeks of silence.

Shadara Windless |

Sorry it took a while to write this post. Been trying to get it all together most of the week.

Postmortem Apologies |

Hello everyone. I would like to ask you all if you would allow me to re-join. I know it's been a while, but I was hoping that you guys would be okay with me making a new character and jumping back in. I'm sorry that I had to be kicked out in the first place. But I can promise you that you guys wont have to worry about me being kicked out for any of that stuff again. And I'd really like to do this, because it gives me great writing practice, and one day I hope to write a novel. And if you're answer is favorable, then I'd like to ask for any and all feedback on in-game posts once I join. Thank you.

Richard, I wish I had a solution to writer's block. For what it's worth, I'd love to see Richard's mental fog gradually clear away as his interactions with the world remind him of his past.
I've enjoyed your posts so far. I get the sense Richard is mischievous and proud of his power.
Personally, I've found it easier to write when I admit that Quinten is a mix of autobiography and fantasy. I could try to play a character with a personality, world view and dreams I can't relate to, but I think I would struggle to make that character realistic. Besides, it's fun to explore desires and conflicts I deal with in real life. I suppose that's why people say to write what you know.
Unk/Postmortem Apologies, I'll leave that call to people who know you. For what it's worth, I enjoyed some of your posts. If you come back, though, please try to stay active and find reasons to interact with the other players.
All, my in-game post may be slow. I'm behind at work and have obligations every night this week except Friday and possibly Wednesday.

Yes. Thank you very much Quintin for your feedback. I will try to interact more with the other characters. And I wont be inactive, that's for sure.

Richard, I agree with Quentin on this 100%. You can't write what you have no solid connection with in backgrounds or experiences. I feel and have felt that part of your disconnection with your character is my fault due to me allowing you to put all your background and history in my hands. This was a mistake and even though I thought it played well with the amnesiac psychic it doesnt play well in story. It also makes it easier for me to not give you spotlight moments which also is not fair.
What I am willing and wanting to do to remedy this is one of a couple of things either:
1.) You write up a background of a couple of paragraphs with background you identify with for Richard and continue to play him
or
2) You recreate a character at same level and such and write me a background and we will just slide him in as if he's been Richard all along. The background I have revealed about "those that came before" will still be part of it.
Either way you choose I want you to be happy and have fun with the character you play.
By giving background of some sort, you will make some of those connections you desire and over come the flat and hard to write about character.

Comp power supply went out so I am struggling with an antiquated laptop to post. I also hsve seen several of you are sick or swamped so lets reconvene on the actual GAME post until monday.
I want opinions on Unk rejoining with a new toon? He will have a few choices restricted to fit him in better IF and only IF we decide as a whole to let him back.
I WILL NOT OVERRIDE THE GROUP DECISION ON THIS.
Quentin thanks for a quick and to the point opinion.

I gave him the ability to access the gameplay without direct supervision so I am ok with him joining. Just remember I will always be watching in ways you may not realize. MMMMuuuuuaaaaaahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!

Herkymr the Silly |

you're not slowing anyone down. I will work you in once I have seen your toon. Stay on top of reading the last stuff though so you are semi-aware of what is going on. You will most likely be starting in the Hall of Law where they are currently.
I make no promises on that though.
Also: for group:
What are we doing now? been waiting for some reply to my last posting but not seeing anythjing.

Shadara Windless |

Nice Richard,
I decided to have Shadara get the coin to you on a lark and was curious to see if and how you might approach the coins availability. Also really glad I got a good roll.

Djalaal, your backstory makes sense, but it doesn't do anything to tie your character to the party. Ideally, your character should have a reason to work with the rest of the group. To my understanding:
1. Quinten is with the group to get revenge on the Yellow Scorpions, who stole artifacts from the home he shares with his parents. He's also restless and needs to prove himself.
2. Jerram needs to right wrongs to redeem himself for murdering the man who tried to enslave his wife. While I doubt he would admit this, he likely has a particularly strong desire to stop the Yellow Scorpions, who claimed his wife's would-be abductor as a member and who burned down the monastery where he trained.
3. Mang wants to kill the rakshasa responsible for murdering his people. Conveniently, the rakshasa claims to to control the Yellow Scorpions, the others' enemy.
4. Shadara started the group to test her skills and see the world that her people isolated her from. Now, she too has a reason to dislike the rakshasa, who acted as if he has used her mother and who may have played a role in the death of her people. Adventuring with us may also help her understand the bow and the powers she inherited from her mother.
5. The amnesiac Richard is with the group because he's been told we can help him uncover his past. He's also being hunted by agents allied to groups affiliated with the Yellow Scorpions.
You'll notice a common theme: All of us have a reason to go after the Yellow Scorpions or people tied to them. Perhaps they work with Djalaal's father in some way, such as buying the slaves he captures or bringing him narcotics that heighten his cruelty.
It's also a good idea to give Djalaal ties to people in the areas where the game will take place (which we know will include Fifth Port, the deserts between Fifth Port and the mountains Richard and Mang come from, and the mountains themselves). There are two reasons to do so:
1. It gives Herkymr levers he can use to put your character in a tough spot. We all want things to go well for us, but in the long run, the story will be more compelling if we prevail despite adversity.
2. It gives you ways to show us something about your character. Like Djalaal's attempts to protect animals, Mang's faith in his master, Jerram's concern for his wife, and Quinten's banter with Jerras and his father make them seem more believable.
Perhaps to ensure we had some ties to the world, Herkymr asked us to do the following in our backstories:
1.) Name of Mentor
2.) Name of a group you belong to and one you oppose.
3.) Name a friend.
4.) Name an enemy.
5.] Name a specific goal.
I don't know if the answers to all those questions will be used, or if he's still requiring them, but they're a useful framework to consider when you're coming up with a character.

Herkymr the Silly |

thanks I forgot to list those when I told him to create his toon.
Also you need to think of this and then respond as well
If you had to thematically do background music for your character, what song would best fit them in the following situations...please link them...
1)non combat situations (general over all theme)
2.) combat

Postmortem Apologies |

Thank you very much, I had forgotten about the 5 back-story things that were requested. And I understand what you mean as far as the Yellow Scorpions go, and I'll add and modify it to work better with the group. I have the songs already chosen, but would you like me to link them here or someplace else? And I am very grateful for your feedback Quentin, I think you helped me a lot.
