So presumably if enough players of the "keyed" faction play the scenario their faction is keyed to, everyone in that faction gets a "better" End-of-Season boon?
Is that right, Professor?
EDIT: Oh, I think I see what you're saying. Achieving the success condition in the scenario may unlock a boon on that scenario's Chronicle Sheet.
Maaarv, would love to see Des again, but do play who you want. I really like Maaarv, Des and Linnea.
The Year of the Demon Begins!
Monday, August 12, 2013
As the Year of the Risen Rune draws to a close, the Pathfinder Society is bustling with the preparation for the launch of the next exciting adventure for the thousands of Pathfinders participating in the campaign. In just a few short days, the Year of the Demon will commence, and members of all eight active factions are getting ready for the season ahead.
Each faction leader, from Andoran's Major Colson Maldris to Taldor's Lady Gloriana Morilla, have sent a missive to their allies within the Pathfinder Society, updating their agents on the conclusion of last season's goals and laying forth new agendas for the coming year. A brief overview of each faction's goals for Season Five can be found below, along with a link to the full text of each faction head's letter on the paizo.com messageboards.
Andoran: Root out corruption in Andoran and better understand others' paths to liberty.
Cheliax: Secure important artifacts and sources of power to establish order in the Inner Sea region and strengthen the faction's power base.
Grand Lodge: Ensure the success of the Pathfinder Society's expedition to the Sky Citadel of Jormurdun.
Osirion: Contact the Jeweled Sages, explore their history, and extend the faction's protection of history beyond Osirion's borders.
Qadira: Establish a long-term trade deal with one of several possible trading partners.
Sczarni: Extend the Sczarni faction's reach into central Avistan, and neutralize the faction's rivals.
Silver Crusade: Aid the nation of Mendev in its crusade against the Worldwound.
Taldor: Assist Lady Gloriana Morilla in gathering forces to march to Mendev.
EDIT 2: GM Tektite, I know you're busy but any chance you could send me a signed off End of Season 4 Faction Goal Chronicle when you get some time, please?
Omrax the Bold |
Looking forward to it. Just leveled Omrax. Hard to keep up with Luisila these days!
Luisila |
C'mon, Omrax. Surely Omrax's adopted mother warned him about chasing fast girls.
Also ... I see GM Aarvid has now changed his name to GM Staarvid! Congratulations.
Omrax the Bold |
Hey thanks! No way to keep up the stardom with Tektite running a dozen games at a time. He will have his own constellation by the end of the year. :)
Professor Snouts Oinkerton |
Had a big post last night, but it got eaten. Essentially, if the Sczarni goal is met, all Sczarni players get a boon. No other players (even Cheliax or Silver Crusade, in this example) can get that boon. Those two factions, however, have their own separate boons to earn (which no other faction can earn.)

Thank-you, GM Tektite! Have you decided who you are bringing to Wardstone? I know you consider party makeup and I have been thinking about our weaknesses with Zynep and Ernest away.
**Disclaimer** As always play who you want to play! There's ways around most things.
- Knowledges
- Swarms: If Maaarv isn't playing. Otherwise, we should have alchy fire/acid on hand
- Spellcraft: I can do this at a push - but my bonus is +4
- Disable Device: Again if Maaarv isn't playing
- Flying/Spider-climbing things: OK. Omrax and I have potions of Fly and we can do archery (especially if Des plays)
- Constructs with DR/Adamantine: I think I'm going to coat some arrows with adamantine weapon blanch.
It goes without saying, feedback from you guys is always welcome.
Bazresh Izzakesh |
Being a mission that has ties for the Silver Crusade, this is who I would prefer to bring Baz here. As soon as he finishes the scenario he is in (which shouldn't be too long now) he'll be Lvl 4. Unfortunately I think all of my other Level 3+ PCs are tied up in PbP for a much longer time.
Endless Forms is coming in as the sixth. I think he is bringing a Sylph Druid
Luisila |
Woo Hoo! GM Endless as the sixth would be grand! Baz looks ideal, Tektite. I’ve still got the Evoking Day boon for a +5 bonus to Spellcraft – might have to do.
I’ve got some cold iron weaponry for demons. I think I'm going to get some adamantine weapon blanch too. I have this mental picture of Luisila in tweeds handing arrows to Des to fire, like a gamekeeper to the lord of the manor. “Good shot, Milord.”
Assuming, Maaarv brings Des (just as an assumption, M!)
Omrax 5
Desmond 5?
Cleaver 4
Baz 4
Endless’ Druid 4
Luisila 5
That’s a pretty strong group. APL =(3x5 + 3x4)/6 =4.5 exactly.
So the nearest whole number is 4 ... or 5. By RAW, you round down in Pathfinder, right?
Desmond Aesculus |
Oh, I wouldn't miss another chance to fight alongside you, Luisila. I'm in. Death can't hold me back. How's Ms. Navhelan?
Luisila |
Looking forward to seeing Des again.
How's Ms. Navhelan?
A pair of green half-elven eyes narrow a fraction. *pfft* “THAT dozy cow! Who cares?”
Eadie is enjoying the GM and group she is in at the moment, very much. Thanks for asking!
Desmond Aesculus |
If I can get Desmond in the scenario tonight, he'll be up to 6.
Desmond Aesculus |
Worked my way through "The Devil We Know - II" tonight. I have Desmond updated. I just need to update the gold count - I left the chronicle sheets in my car and it's to cold to go out there tonight.
It was Des, a 7th-level Monk using a returning gourd for his attacks (he said it was based on a character from Naruto, which I am not familiar with but I see it's an anime cartoon), and then 2nd Level druid, fighter and wizard. It was fun.
Luisila |
Sounds like a good game.
... it's to cold to go out there tonight.
Luisila throw up her hands. “Threv wept, Desmond! Aren’t you supposed to be a ranger?!?”
“You know we’re going to be fighting demons soon, right? Weather permitting, I suppose?”
**Whining martyr** “But it’s all right. *sigh* I’ll go and get the gold for you ...”
*casts* Endure Elements
*casts* Wind Walk to Riddle Vegas

Does Endless' Haunting of Hinojai chat room still work?
Yah, it does! And it looks like Endless gave my Luisila token to Peri!! Wait 'til I see that two-timer!
Oh, don't disturb the little one, Tektite.
Professor Snouts Oinkerton |
Honestly, I'm surprised you haven't started a DM Rah's hideaway-esque thread.

Alright, it wasn't too cold - I was posting from my warm, comfy bed and didn't want to get up.
I'm lazy. I admit it.

Does that mean you want me to shut this thread down? ;)

Ha, not at all; just stating that a place dedicated for your amassment of players to advertise games/discuss things/harass each other would be more... focused. Maximo's Hideaway, in case you're not sure what I'm refrencing.
Professor Snouts Oinkerton |
Then make your own hideaway! With blackjack! And hookers!

Has anyone been following Neb's Cyphermage?
I'm pretty sure his opening description had a gazebo in it.
Oh, I so want Luisila to shoot an arrow at a gazebo now.
Luisila |
Don't sell yourself short!
The dwarf with the goatee that was "prettier" than Zynep was funny.
That game played out the complete opposite of the way the IRL game I played in went.
We fought on the ship and negotiated with the pirate BBEG.
The bluffs, fake-assassin and Ernest the navigator were great!
What did Varg say in Goblinblood? Something like, "Ernest is a regular viking" lol
Professor Snouts Oinkerton |
That's cool; they're still a store, and we've still got a bonkers amount of people. I'll be there regardless! See you whenever.
EDIT: Ha, you can even talk to the regular full-DM about how sportsball (Stickplates in particualr) isn't a grotesue waste of finances/time!
Zynep Ravana |
I'm pretty sure that's a by-product of "being familiar with the Second Darkness AP" though...
Don't be hatin'. =v) Nothing wrong with usin' a little additional resources that one stumbles upon. That's the beauty of PbP.

Less hatin', more coddling a bruised ego probably. :)
Professor Snouts Oinkerton |
When my player asked how to play Ghoulette and I couldn't answer (given that I barely know how roulette plays out thanks to Jet Set Radio), I can guarantee hatin' will be directed somewhere…

Desmond Aesculus |
Oh wow. The hideaway seems cool. I don't know...I'm probably not cool enough to join. I'll just watch from the periphery, looking all bashful.
Zynep Ravana |
Des, you and I need to take the Professor to Lost Wages the weekend. He'll be one changed pig ;v)
And roulette is really easy. You put your money on a number. The little man then spins the wheel and ball. The ball will then land on a number which is not the number you picked. The casino takes your money. Rinse & repeat =v).
Professor Snouts Oinkerton |
Yeah, the Wikipedia article did try to tell me that, but then I focused too hard on attempting to remember all the slang. Though given my only Vegas time was when I was, like, 14, or something. I dunno; I just remember the awesome arcades (which pretty much accomplished the same thing.)

Desmond Aesculus |
I haven't played a casino game or gambled in about 7 years. But Zynep, your explanation pretty much describes any table game.
Also, there's almost nothing as depressing as a Casino floor at about 8:30 in the morning on a weekday.
Desmond Aesculus |
I need to get more familiar with the names around here. I just checked your writing credits, Mike. Good work on Glass River - I just finished up a PbP of it. I love a good rescue mission.
