"Hmm..." Manius starts to slowly draw a circle in the air with the tip of his blade, stroking his chin with his other hand. "Looks like someone hasn't been playing nice with the children." He leans in a little closer to Hookshanks, speaking softly while smirking. "I'm slow because I'm doing you a kindness, friend. You want to find out what I can do with the sharp end of this blade? Maybe we should give you some matching scars?"

He narrows his eyes as he leans back, now slowly drawing crosses in the air.

"Anything else you can tell us about 'down below'? How many of your friends are down there? Armaments? Likely traps? Location of any prominent members of a crocodilian species?"

Manius gives a sudden, quick flourish with his blade, before returning it to where it was pointed.

"Quickly, we really must be getting on."

Not sure if an intimidate check is necessary at this point, but I'll make one anyway.

Silvio turns to heads through the building downstairs. Spots of acid are still burning his skin and clothes, but he seems to have forgotten all about it.

As Silvio runs toward the back room, Marial reaches out suddenly and grabs his shoulder. Cool it, kid! She sees the worried look on his face, and her tone softens.

I'm worried too, Sil. I heard the name same as you. But rushin' in too fast and all alone ain't gonna do nothin' but get you killed, and then what good'll you be doin' her?

We'll get her, I swear, and the Madame's kid too. She suddenly pulls Silvio into a backbreaking hug. But I ain't gonna let you get your head broke open doin' it.

And we got friends now. We ain't gotta do it alone. Marial releases her hold on Silvio and turns to the others. If everyone's ok, let's get goin'. The sooner we find 'em, the better.

Glad to have the kids back off instead of fighting was good. But the news of more hostages made Cal focus on the task at hand. He made sure he got everyone's attention and put his hand on the shorter Silvio.

"Let's go down there, but don't be in a rush. If you act the way he wants, you've already fallen into his trap. Let the ones who are best at close range go first, and you do your best to back them up. It will take all of our resources for this, otherwise we would not all have been called."

Keeping his sword out and gesturing with it toward Hookshanks, he spoke with a confident and assertive tone. "We should tie that one up first though. It would be better if we dealt with him more thoroughly later."

[ooc]I suppose we should get a marching order down. Cal is actually okay with being rear guard, although if one of the more effective fighters wants the position, that's okay with him. He'll also stick close to Em, knowing that if their main source of healing goes down, he can fix her up.[ooc]

Silvio turns as Marial grabs him. He relaxes a bit, letting her and Cal's words sink in. He sighs. "You're right. I just...After the bit with Teron, she's all the family I have left."

He nods to Cal. "Who knows what Lamm has down there with him. We should be prepared for some twisted underhandedness." He pulls out another flask of acid, holding it in his right while his left still wields the rapier. He waits while the others prepare themselves.

"Hopefully it's a lot less child-stabbers. More secret gnomes I can handle. Guess we should tie her up too?" Manius motions to the girl Garvid knocked unconscious. He waves his rapier at Hookshanks to indicate he should turn around.

"Hands behind your back! No funny business or I shall use the pointed bit."

When both Hookshanks and the unconscious girl are bound up, he moves to the northern door of the room.

"Shall we?" he asks, having a quick listen at the door.

Hookshanks turns around and allows Orsson the tie him up. It is easy to tie the older female up since she is unconscious. Em's healing saves the boy that the older girl stabbed.

My usual habit's to keep the healer in the middle. I know I'm a meatshield, so I'll probably be in front right now since I'm more familiar with the place. For longer-term habit I'm fine with taking up either the front or the rear, depending on where we think is best.

Garvid grunts approvingly at the way the situation is handled. Maybe kick the gnome once for good measure? Nothing permanent, more educational than anything...

Hearing Marial's words he nods. "Well said. We move quick and careful. I'd leave the... unpacking of found goods until after we're done."

He looks at the dirty bunch of kids in the room, leaning on his halberd. "What are you kids going to do now? Sticking around to see how we end up? I'd be making myself scarce from this place, regardless of what happens around here today. Though, if you want to do us a favour, keep an eye on those two. If they start moving too much,", he gestures towards the older girl and Hookshanks, "You ask them to stop. If they don't listen, give them a light kick in the kneecap. Ain't gonna break a thing, but hurts like hell.", he winks at the most helpful and outspoken of children.

Cracking his neck once again, he gives the inside of the house a brief glance, wincing as he sniffs the air. Kids, fish guts and lack of hygiene. Lovely. He takes a brief step, then grins. "Well, so far, we're doing more than fine. Keep it up this way, next month we're fixing the Worldwound's problems.", a dry grin on his face.

The group chooses their order and then proceeds to the door. Mouse slowly opens it. As it creaks loudly, she finds a slippery staircase descending into another room.

The floor here is slick with seawater, bits of seaweed, and fish blood—the air is thick with the accompanying scent. Wooden catwalks to the north and south allow access to the western part of the fishery, while the floor here is only five feet above the river below. An open bay to the south allows direct access to the sloppy, muddy water, while to the northwest stands an immense ten-foot-tall wooden vat, its sides caked and waterproofed with tar. Inside is a foul-looking mixture of chum, seawater, and who knows what else. To the east are stacked many barrels and crates, each marked in paint with a fish. Nearly two dozen small hammocks hang from under the catwalks, each with its own ratty blanket and pillow.

Mouse starts descending the stairs when out of nowhere four lambs pop up with crossbows and fire at her.

As the crossbow quarrels thrum toward Mouse, Silvio's blood begins to boil. He lets out an angry shout and shoulders his way past Manius and Mouse, hurling the flask of acid in his hand at the child he sees at the base of the stairs.

Move action, move 20 feet ahead to E9 and make appropriate Acrobatics checks. I'm assuming it's one per square of movement? Standard action, throw acid flask at the Lamb at E7.

"Get down!", shouts Garvid as he sees the kids ducking out with crossbows, and he leans on the wall for cover. "Sons of mothers...", he sighs as the bolts thud in the walls.

He pokes his head from around the corner, boots heavily stomping on the creaking stairs, taking a brief look at Mouse's wound as he passes by her. Doesn't look to be too vital... Stepping on the top floor, he rushes past the kids, now wielding nothing more than sticks, and he stands in the middle of the room, halberd swinging around him to create space. Double-move to I8

Otherwise,", he gestures to the row of tiny windows, "we'll have to break the law against defenestration with you."

Emilia ducked when the bolts came flying toward their frontline. She was not one familiar with defensive positions or quickness of foot, so she hoped the Lambs' weapons would not find mark on her person. When her companions pressed forward, she got caught up in the momentum and did all she could to move, using an impromptu roll to dodge any crossbow bolts.

The priestess attempted to back up Garvid's plea for the Lambs to put their weapons down,

"We are not here for you. Please do not shoot at us, and, you may leave."

Grimacing at the crossbow quarrel in her shield arm, Mouse groans as Silvio shoulders past her, inadvertently bumping the injured limb. Hold up, Silvio! Slipping and sliding attempting to keep up with her friend, she checks his motion at the bottom of the stairs and steps in front of him, raising her klar with a wince. The splashed acid on the floor starts eating away at the bottom of her shoe slightly. They're right. We ain't got nothin' against ya, just your boss. Let us be.

Aid to Garvid's Diplomacy to influence the Lambs: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 Or, you know, not.

Move action, move fifteen feet forward to E8. If my Diplomacy check didn't consume it, I'll ready a standard action to attack the Lamb at E7 if they continue hostilities, nonlethal damage. Roll is below if you need it.

Silvio moves down the stairs and throws a flask at one of the archers. The vial of acid misses left and hits the door. A little bit of the acid hits one of the boys E7-1 point of damage. "Ow man...that hurts!"

Garvid moves into the room. The lambs' eyes widen at the large man.

Garvid wrote:
"...we'll have to break the law against defenestration with you."

The lamb next to Garvid asks, "What is defensistratation mean?" His failure to attack causes them to relax a bit.

Em moves forward.

Em wrote:

Em's soft tone and easily understood language causes the lambs, who are used to harsh and angry language, to calm even more.

The one stinging from the acid responds, "You promise lady?"

Mouse moves down infront of the boy who has become the spokesman for the lambs.

Mouse wrote:
"They're right. We ain't got nothin' against ya, just your boss. Let us be."

He notices Mouse. "You know what Lamm'll do if'n we don't attack. You better kill'em."

The boy talking to Mouse drops his crossbow. "Forget you Giggles! I hope you git wut ya deserve!" The other boys drop their crossbows as well.

The half orc standing next to the vat yells at the lambs, "Pick up them crossbows and fight. Hehehe...hahaha..." The man snickers uncomfortably as he speaks.

Manius darts down the stairs, moving past the orphans. He raises his rapier, point towards the other half orc in the room.

"You should just give it up, friend. We got you outnumbered! Surrender and I won't have to gut you like a... well, you know." He waves at the fishery around them. The giggling half-orc was a little unsettling. The crazy ones were often the most dangerous fighters in the underground rings.

"Don't listen to Giggles! You can be free of all this. We'll take care of the stupid half-orc!" Silvio makes a dash across the room, going all the way by Garvid and around the table at the far end.

Satisfied that the children are giving up the fight, Marial gives a brief smile. Thanks, kiddos. We'll get the bastard; stake my life on it. Then she dashes past Manius, Garvid, and the child next to Manius, taking a swing at the giggling orc. She remembered his gleeful cruelty, and after seeing his harsh attempts to force the Lambs into submission and the swing he took at Manius, her patience has run out.

Garvid swings the shaft of his halberd for Giggles' legs, trying to knock him on the ground. Let's try and break it.

Unfortunately for him, the swing goes wild in the dark room, and the guard frowns. Grasping the halberd once more, he readies himself to strike the half-orc if he attempts to escape. "You're surrounded, buddy, so drop it.", his voice more tired than anything.

Bless has a duration of 1 minute, and I'm not sure if the time has expired. Maybe GM Mason can adjudicate on that.

Emilia , from her current position at the top of the stairs, loaded a bullet into her sling and swinging it, aimed and fired at the enemy (at I:10) who had attacked Orcsson.

Ranged Attack with Sling, 50ft range: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Alas, the bullet went askew and fell short of her target, much to her chagrin.

Move action: Load bullet in sling.
Standard action: Attack with sling.

She sweeps her leg around behind Giggles' knee, trying to kick his leg out from under him.

Free action, five foot step to J10. Move action, martial flexibility to pick up Improved Trip. Standard action, trip attempt for kicks and Giggles. :)

See, this ^ is what I get for being cocky. :) Also, is a halberd a reach weapon? I thought for some reason they weren't.
