Tirion - was likely protection from arrows.

Also, she's still on the battlemap - so you can get close in a single move.

DMHW's description was that she waved her hands and physically deflected the arrows. That was why I was asking.

Dungeon Master

Hi Tirion, thanks for checking with me and keeping me straight. I am often under serious time pressures to finish a large battle post such as this one and in my haste I misread the note about Manyshot in Deflect Arrow and interpreted it to say that she deflects all arrows shot at her in that round. However, I realize now that that is from one arrow or many arrows from an opponent with manyshot. I will take off more damage from Thordak's bolts. Thanks for your patience with me. :-)

Round 3

Tirion, looks at the rogue who just managed to escape from his entanglement and attacks him as a full round action until he is vanquished.

"You should do something better with your life than simply looting from nobles!"

Magnimarana 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

DMHW - did she really move as far as she is on the map? It seems she moved through 2 squares of difficult terrain, jumped, and then double moved (unless she has a movement of 80' which would not be until level for most monks.) This would be 4 move actions it seems.

ROUND 3

Bofus drops his bow, and immediatley takes off in the air after the fleeing villain, drawing rapier on the way.

I'll fly my full 100' east, trying to keep pace with her. If I can start to close, I'll do so.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

How are you getting 100'? I thought it was 60' for the fly + 30' for the haste. Thus, 90', or 180' for a double move.

Round 3

• Bofus flies 100 feet east down the street gaining on the nimble woman.
• The black tentacles continue to constrict Ulgarek and Ripper, weakening them both further.
• Edvard hovers a few feet off of the battlement walk, blocking the way for the rogue to get by. He then dismisses the Black Tentacles.
• Tirion flies down the road to get ahead of the tatooed woman. Using a double move of fly, you easily get ahead of her.
• Mantooth, making a full round attack, strikes down the rogue at the bottom of the stairs with several great swings of Magnimarana.
• Thordak fires three shots at the Rogue Balog, but the bolts miss and hit the cobblestone streets below.
• Balog (AC21) drops his hands and calls up to the dwarf. "Ok, ok, You can stop firing! I know you will hit me eventually." He drops his sack of treasure and it clatters to the ground.

• Steg (W28) yells to Edvard, "Get out of the way, you flying freak!" He then steps forward and swings his glaive up you viciously.

Glaive: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30 Hit!

• Ulgarek, finally free of the bonds of the black tentacles, moves his hands in quick somatic gestures and utters a few cryptic words.

Thordak flies off after the escaping woman on Lulu.

DMHW: Can Lulu pounce on/grab someone from above? Also, how often will she level up and will she gain abilities with levels?

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

What the heck? This morning I changed my post based upon DMHW's response and posted that I had single moved and cast Web centered 5' in front of the runner. Now it is gone. Oh well..

Round 3

Tirion flies above the monk by 15' and casts Limp Lash.

Move action: Fly to AC39

Standard: Cast Limp Lash

Attack-touch: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 7 + 1 = 25 vs Touch AC

Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4 Strength
1d6 ⇒ 2 Dexterity
1d6 ⇒ 3 Constitution

Tirion moves above the fleeing monk and calls upon the arcane. A moment later a dark whip appears in his hands which he lashes at the monk. The end of the black weapon wraps around her neck draining her physical strength (str, dex and con). It also seems to paralyze her, I do not know whether this is the first round or only when a stat goes to 1, spell is really poorly written.

I interpret it to mean "once an atribute drops below 1 the target is paralyzed." what *is* unclear is whether this creates a flank ... DMHW, can you rule on that before I go? I'd advocate for "yes" given he's creating a magical weapon, but it's not up to me, is it??

Round 4: AC 13, HP 29/50

Feeling the glaive cut into his flesh Edvard grunts, and this is followed by the all too familiar warm feeling of his blood oozing from the wound. Calling out "Mantooth, you are needed." Edvard realises that he has little chance of halting their flight... especially now that three of their group have moved off in pursuit of the supposed leader. Knowing that pain will follow, Edvard flings himself through the air sideways and over the side of the battlements - away from the warrior's weapon. He then calls upon his focus, summoning the blinding radiance that would be suffered by gazing upon the sun itself. With words he states "La lumière du soleil, pour graver votre vue" as he holds out his left fist clenched. At the climax of his phrase, he opens his hand and an explosion of golden light follows...

Elvish:
"The light of the sun, to burn your sight"

Fly to T,32 - provoking an AoO
Then cast Glitterdust - centered on V,28 catching the two in the burst.
DC 16 Will save or they are blind for 7 rounds, also they are covered in golden dust for 7 rounds.

As he gets to the top of the stairs, Mantooth commands the villain to halt as he declares,"Hold it right there! Do not move! I will spare your life if you surrender right now!"

Mantooth will ready an action to strike him down should he not comply.

The monk's first blow grazes Bofus' hair--only the arcane speed provided by Haste allowed the halfling to dodge the blow. He gives his adversary a raised eyebrow of respect for the near hit.

then the magical whip wraps around her neck, the black pulsing energy draining her life force while providing enough distraction to let the little thief do what he does best--fight dirty!! He aims his rapier at the juiciest bits while she struggles with the spell.

• Thordak flies Lulu down from the tower and lands her beside Xemeshlar.
• Balog takes off running.

Meanwhile, I will get my crossbow!"

Mantooth sheaths his sword and quickly pulls out his heavy crossbow. He loads it up with a bolt and winds up the small winch as he prepares to fire at the fleeing rogue.

Dungeon Master

You are correct, Tirion. This morning, I must have gone a little crazy with the cut and paste. It should have been +14/+14/+9/+9/+4. Thordak, the critical hit has accurate, but she missed her other attack. You should only take 23 points of damage and not 37 points.

Damage:2d10 + 14 + 4 ⇒ (3, 1) + 14 + 4 = 22

Thordak takes another swing at the woman as she turns to run.
Ye never turn yer back to a Dwarf with an' axe, lady!

And then he vaults onto Lulu and rides after the monk with his axe raised!

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

I fly to AL54 - I think that is 90'. Not sure if I can fly above the buildings which would allow me to get closer.

Fly: 1d20 + 8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 8 + 4 = 17 <-- vs DC15 for 90 degree turn I think.

I then cast Shocking Grasp using the Spectral Hand.

Attack-ranged touch: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 1 = 24
Damage: 5d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 3, 3, 5, 1) + 1 = 14 <-- never quite figured how Point Blank Shot works with spells.

I can keep doing this all day m'lady. Surrender might be wiser than death.

pbs wouldn't count with spectral hand--it delivers touch spells, it's not a ranged spell

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

True - but I just realized that I get +2 from the Spectral Hand spell. So my prior attack should be 25, not 24.

Male Human Paladin 9 (HP:68/102, AC: 28, Touch: 16; +10 Fort, +6 Reflex, +11 Will)

Round 7

Mantooth declares to the robed villain, "You will remain here and not move! My friends are near, and if they should find you trying to escape, then they will not show you any mercy. If you follow my commands, you may yet live!"

Mantooth then runs along the battlement toward Edvard and the villain, Steg, as fast as he can.

Not in use

Yeah - but in a minute he'll be 10 in combat actions later, not blinded, and many other potential things. Kind of hard to influence him if he keeps running, etc.
Waste of a 20 unfortunately, but thems the breaks.

AoO: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Edvard takes a swing at the departing thief before hearing Mantooth's distant words. He pauses to allow the Paladin to catch up and also to determine if the one he leaves behind coplies with the request.

Delaying

Round 7

Xemeshlar sees the black gnome fly after her and when he lands to cast his spell, she races back (to AM54) and attacks the sorcerer.

"I see you do not follow directions very well! I suppose it is time to teach you a lesson!"

Unarmed Strike: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 33 HIT!

Round 7

• Bofus flys off over the roof tops trying to close in on Xemeshlar again. By cutting diagonally over the roof tops for a double move, the thief is able to take a position on the roof of a building (AT51).
• Edvard swings at Steg, but he manages to defend himself from taking too much damage. Edvard then delays.
• Tirion flies to AL54 and then casts Shocking Grasp on Xemeshlar burning her with an electrical charge.
• Mantooth runs along the battlements to N27.
• Thordak hops on Lulu and takes over over the roof top trying to catch the bald monk.
• Balog (resolved unseen)
• Steg (resolved unseen)
• Edvard (unresolved)
• Ulgarek pokes his head up to see if the area is clear, but at the sight of Edvard, he puts his head back down.
• Xemeshlar moves to AM54 and attacks Tirion delivering a deadly critical hit to the gnome!

Unless she can attack me 20 feet in the air, I do not think that the monk can hit me. I never landed and am staying well out of a height that I think she can jump to.

Tirion, Sorry, I did not realize that you were up so high up.

Acrobatics Check for High Jump: 1d20 + 47 ⇒ (16) + 47 = 63

Xemeshlar takes a running leap to attack you, gaining about 15 feet in height. With her size, she is clearly able to deliver her critical blow! She calls it a high chop!

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Tirion laughs. Nice, but can you jump this high?

Tirion proceeds to fly directly up another 30'. - I am not at 50'.

Cast Shocking Grasp: 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 2 + 1 = 26
Damage: 5d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 2, 1) = 8 <-- about the crappiest damage roll in history.

Round 8

Mantooth runs up to the rook and opens the door, ready to attack Steg.

Not in use

Ulgarek should still be blinded till Round 11, and Mantooth shouldn't need to open the door - as Steg never closed it behind him.

Round 8: 36/50 HP, AC 13

Noting that the fallen one is potentially stirring, Edvard flies back towards him to stand vigil. As he departs he tells Mantooth "His sight will be lacking for but a short time longer. Ware when it returns." As he moves back to where Ulgarek fell - Edvard draws salt from one of his pouches and smears it into his wound. As the flesh sears with pain, it also closes over - leaving but an angry scar in it's wake.

Move to V,28 - use Healing Hex on self for 2d8 + 7 ⇒ (1, 3) + 7 = 11
