"If anything, we're doing too well. The forces outside the gates are smaller than expected, and they have very little siege equipment. The bombardment from the halflings caused a lot of chaos and damage, but nothing crippling. What has me worried is the absence of dwarves. We know they were led by Stronginthearm, but neither he nor his dwarven soldiers have been spotted. Call me a cynic, but it seems like we're about to feel the other shoe drop."

You arrive at a closed door guarded by two dwarven silver guards. "I guess we're a little short on mithral guards right now. Anyway, here we are," your escort says, grinning. The dwarves glare at him. "These folks need to speak with the king and Master Vincenzo." The dwarves nod and reply, "They're with the rest of the high command. You can enter once the other mithral guards finish delivering their report."

"Let's skip that" Leto says not breaking stride and walking up to the doors. "This entire scenario is a giant shell game. I don't know if you are familiar with a shell game but the basic idea is this: keep the pieces moving, don't let them stop and you will miss the little flip that means that the ball wasn't there to begin with. This is the one place in the city that we know that the assassins are trying to get to and every mithral guard is suddenly able to get anywhere and is welcomed with open arms. Now they are about to give a report to the king? I am betting my life that the ball has disappeared into this room and the fights outside are just the shells spinning to distract us." Leto says all of this with blank and expressionless features. As he has been speaking he has closed distance to the doors and and pushes them open, not breaking his stride long enough for anyone to stop him. Entering the room Leto says in a loud clear voice, "I am sorry to interrupt dear King but I do believe your life is in more danger than you already know."

Leto throws open the doors. Where a moment ago there was silence, now the sounds of combat ring throughout the corridor. Inside the large, exquisitely tapestried room are a marble-topped table adorned with half-furled maps and dispatches and surrounded by expensive-looking padded wooden chairs, four enormous red and gold vases standing in the corners, and some beautiful paintings of Silverkeep hanging on the walls. A large number of glowing ioun stones hover near the ceiling and provide comfortable light throughout the room. Also contained within the room are several freshly made corpses and the two black-haired elves, who are locked in combat with King Heric and Master Vincenzo. The elven woman, armed with a rapier and surrounded by three copies of herself, duels Heric, who fights with a bastard sword. On the other side of the room, the elven man matches his rapier against Vincenzo's twin daggers. Both Heric and Vincenzo are moderately wounded, while their foes have sustained only light injuries.

Bregan (your escort) sees this and moves into the room (to G5), drawing his longsword as he goes. He swings it with both hands at the male elf, who catches the blade with his own. The elf swiftly draws a dagger and rams it through Bregan's eye, killing the mithral guard instantly. Vincenzo capitalizes on the distraction, slashing at the elf four times. His first strike nicks one of the elf's ears, while the other strikes miss or are parried.

On the other side of the room, the elven woman and her images disappear from view (she was in C1). A small green orb flies from C1 and splashes over the king, burning him severely with acid. Heric staggers backwards and grabs a potion from his belt before drinking it. Some of the burn heals, although he remains badly injured. He chuckles weakly, "You don't say?"

The two guards at the door gasp and rush into the room, drawing their weapons and looking around for the woman who just injured the king. Volinar moves to I4 and gapes at the carnage for a moment before drawing his crossbow.

Map

For reference, the male elf is in F6, Vincenzo in E6, Heric in B2, and the female elf was last seen in C1.

Spellcraft DC 17:
The orb that struck Heric was likely a silent lesser orb of acid (Spell Compendium, 150-151).

Spellcraft DC 17:
The woman has a mirror image spell active at the moment.

Spellcraft DC 19:
The woman probably has a greater invisibility effect active, although for some reason she was able to activate it instantaneously and without any verbal or somatic components.

Gareth's shot passes straight through the elf's off hand, causing it to bleed profusely. He is still up.

Pygrado's attack is easily sidestepped (putting you in F5).

Martin double moves to C#, drawing his sword and shield. Sidling up to the king, Martin attempts to stand guard between the king and an invisible foe.

"Your Majesty. It has been some time since I have been in your employ, but let me once again lend a sword to your aid."

Leto and Jamros both loose fiery blasts at the male elf, but neither connects with the agile assassin.

Martin draws his weapon and shield as he moves to protect the king (placing you in C3, as that's what I think you meant).

"You're not worth my time," the male elf sneers at Pygrado. He stabs Vincenzo straight through the shoulder, dropping the advisor. He then backflips away and moves to A4 (successful acrobatics check, tumbling at full speed).

The king says, "It's good to see you again, Martin Stillwaters. Let's try to make it out of he-" "Freeze," interrupts a female voice. King Heric suddenly transforms into a translucent ice statue of himself. Four copies of the elven woman appear in A3, and the two assassins stand side by side with blades at the ready.

Upon seeing the King turned to ice, Volinar screams "NO!!!" He fires his crossbow at the elven woman, but misses entirely and reloads, cursing all the while. The two guards run further into the room, but are unable to reach the assassins.

Spellcraft DC 20:
The king has been transformed by a Flesh to Ice spell (Frostburn, 94).

In the vain of rule of cool would you allow me to try and jump in front of the spell, and try and take the fort save myself for the king? While there is nothing in the rules that supports this, it doesn't feel misplaced flavor-wise, and Martin did just spend his whole last round attempting to rush to the king's side to defend him. Perfectly within your rights to say no, but thought I would give it a try.

Okay. Roll a Reflex save (DC 22). If you succeed, roll Fortitude (also DC 22). Failure of the reflex save means you don't block it in time and the king still gets frozen. Failing the fort save means you get frozen (petrified and made of ice).

HP: 33/45, Smite: 2/2, LoH: 3/6

Edit: Since Martin ended up protecting the king, Gareth is going to change his action from the shooting he did. Does King Heric do anything with his turn now that he did not get frozen?

Double Edit: For those that missed it, since my action counted, I fired two flaming arrows that missed.

Triple Edit: Just wanted to post about how much Martin is a badass.

Seeing the assassin, Martins flings himself in front of the spell, shouting "NOOOOO!!!!"

Upon impact a smile crosses Martin face, but swiftly turns to horror as the ice spreads swiftly from his chest. Radiating outwards, turning his whole frame to ice.

Bravo!

RETCON!

Martin leaps in front of the spell, saving the king but freezing himself. Seeing this, King Heric backs away and runs out of the room. The male elf says "Wait, did he just say Stillwa-", only to be cut off as the elven woman shrieks in rage and snaps her fingers. The two elves disappear as Gareth's flaming arrows slam into the tapestry in front of which they stood, setting it alight.

Combat is over, as the elves have teleported away.

"Fetch Galliani!" The king shouts at the guards now entering the hallway from the staircase. "Tell him it's urgent! We need his help immediately!" The unhelmeted blonde elf turns around and runs back down the stairs, while the unhelmeted dwarf and the helmeted woman rush to the king's side.

Spellcraft DC 21:
The woman just triggered a Getaway spell. The triggering action is swift, so she and the other assassin just teleported away.

Edited to account for Gareth's apparently flaming arrows and a bit of enemy chatter/foreshadowing.

Martin is such a boss.

Gareth shouts, "Martin!!!", but quickly realizes that there isn't much that he can do to remedy the situation. Instead he dashes towards Vincenzo's fallen body and yells at the room, "We need a healer! Spells, potions, anything!"

**Standing ovation** Bravo! Bravo!
Quick clarification: visually has martin been turned into ice or is he encased in ice?

Assuming he has been turned into ice visually: "Damn it!" Leto hisses, his normally emotionless face forming a mask of anger.
"We have to keep him from melting. Somebody get his feet we need to get him to the kitchen meat stores underground. Now!" Leto pulls out his bed roll and casts Ray of Frost on it several times to lower its temperature. Then he shoves the supercooled bedroll over Martin's head and pulls it over his body, ripping the bedroll slightly at it conforms to whatever strange shape he was in. Leto is glad as he handles the supercooled statue and bedroll that he wears gloves at all times "That should keep him from melting for now. Now we need to get him downstairs, who are the strongest here?" Leto prepares a ray of frost to be used on any spots that begin to melt on Martin.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

Martin has been fully turned to ice.

"Just put out that fire and keep him cool with rays of frost! You might break him if you move him!" The king shouts, "The high priest will be here soon. If anyone knows how to undo curses and effects like this, it's him."

Jamros, how exactly are you trying to put out the fire?

The helmeted mithral guard runs over to Vincenzo and says "Cure Moderate Wounds."

Vincenzo wakes up, groaning, "Thank you, your highness, but is the king all right?" The woman nods, and Vincenzo appears greatly relieved.

Leto turns to one of the guards as he continues to use ray of frost over and over, taking advantage of his cantrip to the fullest, "Go get the healer. Quick as you can!" Then looking at the fire Leto fires a ray of frost at it to put it out.

Doesn't it make Martin such a cool character?

Gareth looks on with relief as the advisor slogs to consciousness. He sees others tending to the fire he created and decides that his attention is better spent elsewhere. He gives a pat to the portly man on the ground, "Master Vincenzo! Praise Cayden, I knew you'd have a bit of fight in ya. The assassins have escaped, but at least you're gonna be okay. And thanks to Martin's sacrifice, the king isn't a block of ice."

"But..." remaining on his knees by Vincenzo, he gives a quizzical smirk at the helmeted mithral guard, "it seems to me that you aren't just an ordinary mithral guard. Thank you, for saving Vincenzo's life. The danger in this room has come to pass. Please, your highness, remove your helmet so you may captivate the room with your grace!" With that, he bows his head in respect.

Also, Martin, are you a reptile? Because you seem to be pretty cold-blooded right about now.

The woman chuckles slightly. "Get up," she responds as she helps Vincenzo to his feet. "We can introduce ourselves later. Right now, I'm going to see if anyone else survived the attack." She keeps the helmet on and goes around the room, checking the bodies for vital signs.

Vincenzo says, "I'm glad you showed up when you did. I think the king and I would be dead if not for your efforts." He glances into the hallway at Heric, who is directing the guards to keep sending runners with updates on the progress of the battle. "It looks like the king has things well in hand. There will be time for you to make your full report later. But right now, are there any other imminent threats that you know of?"

Leto gets the fire put out, and seems to be doing an effective job of keeping Martin's frozen form intact. "Don't let him die," the woman says as she moves past him.

Sense Motive DC 15:
The woman is deliberately giving Jamros the cold shoulder, and very visibly pays him no attention at all.

Gareth smiles and stands up. Seeing Jamros thrash about, he interjects, "Don't mind Jamros, he's been struck with some kind of curse and seems to have lost his voice. I'm sure he'd appreciate it if Galiani took a look at him as well."

"But, yes there are imminent threats heading our way. Stronginthearm and some 2000 dwarves are headed through the escape tunnels and the mines towards here. They were planning on using blasting powder to undermine the palace, but we were able to strike first and collapsed a tunnel on them to block their path by Visran -" He stops and clears his throat, "The late Visran's office. We had to rush the job, so I don't know how badly they're stuck down there. It might be best to mobilize a sizable force for fighting in the mines."

Vincenzo nods, and walks out to meet with Heric. They whisper for a moment, and then summon a page. "Go find Captain Odern - he's on courtyard detail." The king commands the youth, "Tell him to take half his forces down to tunnel fourteen, and to expect moles. He'll know what it means." The page runs off down the hall.

Leto keeps Martin cool and prevents him from melting.

The woman checks the fallen in the room, only to discover that they are all dead. Seeing that things have calmed down a bit, she removes her helmet, revealing herself to be the young woman who was so bored by the king's speech. She has light brown hair tied up into a messy bun, blue eyes, and a faint, thin scar under her right eye. She will walk out of the chamber and converse with the king and Vincenzo in whispered tones.

Knowledge (Nobility) DC 5:
The woman is King Heric's daughter - the princess Lynessa, heir to Silverkeep.

After about fifteen minutes, the blonde elven woman returns. She is followed by a human man who appears to be about forty years old. He has green eyes, short-cropped black hair, and a concerned expression. He wears long, black robes and a mithral breastplate. He carries a short, curved sword at his belt, and from around his neck hangs a small token of a face, carved in white and black stone. "Your majesty," he says, approaching the king and bowing his head momentarily, "the halflings have been driven off. What would you have me do now?"

"Revive the man in there, and see to their needs as you can. I owe them my life," the king responds, and the newcomer nods before turning to face you. "Thank you for saving the king. All of Silverkeep owes you a debt," he says as he enters the room. He raises an eyebrow upon seeing Leto blasting popsicle!Martin with frost rays, and smiles slightly. He begins to rummage through a satchel he carries at his side.

Knowledge (Local OR Nobility OR Religion) DC 10:
The symbol around the man's neck is the holy symbol of Nethys, the two-faced god of magic. This man is Lord Ocasso Galliani, the high priest of Nethys, the Duke of Aurra, the Baron of Frothelm, and master artificer and ritualist of the Silverite Academy of Magic. He is also generally considered to be the most powerful spellcaster in Silverkeep, demonstrating strong aptitude for casting spells both arcane and divine.

I know that's a lot of filler, but there's a lot to cover. As always, chime in and interact with each other/the npcs. I will post the next bit tomorrow evening.

HP 42/43

Would it be fair to say that Pygrado returns around now? We haven't really covered what he's been up to.

Yes, sorry. Also, I'm sorry about my infrequent posts these last few days. I've been fighting off a flu and didn't have the energy or interest to post until now.

Pygrado returns now, with a couple more guards in tow. They see the frozen form of Martin and shrug. Restoring people from ice is beyond their ability.

Fortunately, the newcomer finds the scroll he was looking for. "Ah, here we go. Now if you could all step back and give me room to work..." He activates the scroll. Martin is restored to normal.

Martin, welcome back. There are no further consequences of having been frozen.

"Welcome back, young man," the newcomer begins to say, only to be interrupted as the woman runs up to Martin and kisses him on the cheek. "Thank you for saving my father," she says, stepping back.

He goes in for a hug with Martin, giving him a couple of hearty pats on the back. "You're a good man, Martin." Assuming that I fill him in briefly on the narrative stuff also that we missed, don't feel like typing it out :)

After Martin finishes thanking the high priest, Gareth approaches the Galliani and extends his hand, "Gareth Alridge. It's a pleasure to meet you, Lord Galliani. If you wouldn't mind, could you please take a look at our brave halfling companion over here? He seems to have been struck by a curse or spell or... well you're the expert on those matters." "A curse, eh? Let me take a look at you," he says, walking over to Jamros. He examines the halfling with detect magic and ponders for a moment. "Hmm, this is an old curse. An old fey curse. What have you been up to that would anger one of them, I wonder?" He smiles thinly, before continuing, "I think I have a scroll for this, but the odds are slim that it will be powerful enough to remove the curse entirely. Let me see..." He digs through the satchel once again and retrieves another scroll, which he then discharges.

Wow, exactly the necessary result. Jamros can speak normally once more.

"The curse has been lifted," Galliani says, "but there may be some lingering effects. Where fey curses are involved, often the only way to be fully free of the curse is to make peace with the being who inflicted it. And no, I don't know how these effects will manifest or what form they will take. Under what circumstances did this curse manifest itself?"

Leto leans against a wall exhausted after everything that they have just done and after using almost all of his spells in short order. "Now that things have calmed down a little bit. Who are you all? We never really got to have introductions properly apart from Gareth here we were in such a rush. So how do you all know the King exactly and more importantly what is going on exactly that you were down in the mines?"

I just realized that Leto has no idea what your names are or how you know the King. So he's kinda confuzzled.

"Faerie got your tongue?" Galliani asks, before shrugging. "Come find me at the Temple of Nethys should you decide to be more forthcoming in the future. I bid you good day." He turns and walks over to the king, just as Vincenzo arrives back in the room. The guards begin clearing the bodies of their fallen comrades while Heric, Lynessa, and Galliana speak in the corridor.

Overhearing Leto's question, Vincenzo responds as he walks toward you. "I might ask you the same thing. Who are you, and why are you involved in all this?"

Only Jamros really knows what happened in the forest. I'll send him your way if he opens up about it." He shrugs, "You know what, I'll even come along with him when he does." As Galliani starts to walk away, Gareth adds, "Good day. Oh, and thank you very much for your help!"

Leto begins to speak "I was down there doing some work on recently opened dig site..."

Leto's face falls and he pauses for a moment and looks sheepish "Which I wasn't supposed to be. I befriended a miner that worked there. He helped get me miner's clothes and sneak in as a worker. I was on my way to check out an interesting room that had been discovered with ancient writing. That was my whole reason for being there was that room. Then the golems went berserk and I ran with all the other miners. I was in what I later learned was the powder room up until the rest of my new companions came onto the scene and then we all worked to kill the assassins remaining in the mine and then to save you and the King."

Leto turns to the group "I am sorry for the temporary deception. But I will not deny that I am grateful for the outcome."

Leto then turns back to Vincenzo "I will understand if you feel that I should be punished. I violated the law and will accept the consequences that you feel I should meet with."

"Are you with the academy? What's your name, boy?" Vincenzo asks, before turning to the rest of you and asking, "Was he helpful to your mission? We're already grateful to all of you - him included - for saving the king and me. I'm satisfied that he isn't a spy for Goldcrest, but before I debrief you, I need to know if he was involved with your mission."

Sorry everybody for the retcon, but I've got to get this in. This is my third attepmt to get this post posted. My computer is on the fritz.

As the princess removes her helmet, Jamros lets out a gasp and not-so-sneakily creeps behind Martin to try and hide from her. He constantly trys to keep the frozen warrior between himself and the princess. As Lord Galliani enters the room, Jamros's eyes widen. As he asks for space to heal Martin, he backs up, but not too far. When the high priest is done with his work Jamors steps up and bows low to him.

"Hane snvnvh hwoeidll, hwoswn noeeil uqpimms." he says. He then shrugs his shoulders. Just before the high priest casts the scroll, Jamros touches him, praying for guiadance (+2 on the roll, not that it matters, but that is what Jamros would do). His eyes widen as the spell is cast.

"Thank..." he stops, shocked that the sound comming out of his mouth is intelligible. He blinks twice, then says "Thank y', Lord High Priest y'r honor. I... I bin havin' trouble speakin' ever since..."

He bursts into rapid story telling mode.

"We was captured by th' en'my 'alflings the day after the forest fire (surely you saw th' smoke from Silverkeep?), we were. Tied up at a camp o' theirs, no' far from th' vista. Tha' nigh', th' camp was attacked by a monstrous creature! 'is skin was eve' shiftin', mos'ly green, but could match the colors 'round it. 'e was enormous, tall as a 'ouse, wi' enourmous eyes, all blacks, like they could shatter y'r soul. Slits for a nose like a snake an' a maw o' a shark. 'is arms were frail, but only in looks, as he could lift a tree from it's roots like it was gatherin' wild flowers to bring 'ome to 'is mother. 'is 'ands 'ad 'uge fingers with suctions on the end. And claws! 'e had huge claws! Legs like tree trunks with claws at 'is feet, an' a long spiny tail. Fast as lightnin', strong as a thousand men. Truly a thing o' nightmares, I tell you."

"Anyway, the monster, 'e was tearin' down the whole camp, lookin' round, search for a halfling ... aye, it were me. My companions ran for their lives, as I was about to do likewise, but I knew that 'e would not stop unless I stopped 'im. So, I stepped out into the light of the fire and said, 'You shall go no further, great beast! You shall return from the forest from whence you came!' The mosnter laughed and scooped me up, clearly plannin' to eat me. He told me psychically that this was his plan, so I prayed to the gods of fire that they migh' save me. They responded in force, engulfing the monster in flame that did not hurt me. The monster then cursed me and threw me. I lost all consciousnesses, but when I woke up, I could speak only nonsense."

Jamros is a storyteller. He has obviously made some embellishments, but you think that, on the whole, the story is true. The parts of Jamros' extraordinary bravery and the devine power are false, but you don't know what actually happened.

"And through many further adventures, none so urgent as our current situation, we arrived 'ere. But, my lord high priest," he said, suddenly remembering who he was addressing, "I'd like t' ask y' a few questions, when we 'ave the time. We foun' a lost temple and a weakness in the plane and we should speak of them after the siege, if we may."

Not a problem. I hope things get resolved soon.

Galliani will stick around through Jamros' speech, raising an eyebrow at the embellishments. "A fascinating tale. Come by the temple should you wish to discuss your discoveries later. For now, I bid you good evening." He walks away, and Vincenzo enters the room. No retcon to Vincenzo's interactions.

Sense Motive DC 15:
You get the feeling that Galliani sees through Jamros's deception and has a pretty good idea of what actually happened on the vista (he auto-succeeds by a large margin).

"My name is Leto Anguis. I am not with the academy. Just very interested in our world's ancient history. I wasn't particularly involved in their mission before the mine. And by not particularly, I mean I wasn't. They had a mission?"

Sense Motive DC 27:

Bluff: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
Leto Anguis is not his original name. Although it is what he has gone by for some time now.

Leto has a very specific reason for wanting to learn about ancient history and it is not simple academic curiousity.

I love my +11 to Bluff. It makes a world just a little bit better.

Oh, I wasn't getting healers for Martin, I was getting them for Vincenzio and the king. Also, I had completely forgotten that Jamros had a cockney accent.

While Leto and Jamros are sharing their stories, Pygrado slides alongside Martin. Did you know those elves, perchance?

Martin:
You did not recognize either elf.

Vincenzo gives Leto a long, thoughtful stare, before shrugging and saying, "I see. I will want to speak with you, too." He takes a seat and nods at the guards, who leave the room, closing the door behind them. "Sit down, and make your report, gentlemen. Out of curiosity, what became of Miss Warlow?"

Not going to try Leto, but keep in mind that I, too, have a +11 Bluff, so game on, good sir!

Unlike in other media, more ninjas are a greater problem than fewer ones where play by posts are concerned.

Gareth remains standing, placing his hands on top of a chair and leaning towards the table. He gives Vincenzo an incredulous stare as he scoffs, "Well, first off, I don't know who thought that those goblins could do anything but stab each other for no reason." He turns to Leto to explain, "See, Leto, our initial plan was to try to incite a local clan of goblins into attacking Goldcrest's scouts with us. Not my idea."

He starts to pace around the room and drivels on about some of the adventure, "Anyways, me, Jamros, and Martin all show up at the goblin's camp and I work my silver tongue to get us to talk to their barghest leader. Except the only thing those stupid things care about is killing each other. Honor duels, they called them. Whatever. Fact is, I have a good conversation with the barghest and all the goblins just love everything coming out of my mouth. But then he gets all pissy because he doesn't feel like he has control of the goblins and he doesn't want me telling him what to do. So he yells at us and tells us that we will be hunted and all this bullsh*t. That guy really had an attitude problem. Of course, those goblins don't waste any time so a fight breaks out between us and a couple of them. Martin and his horse took a couple of knocks but it wasn't too much of a problem for us. But then guess what happened right then?" Gareth stares at Jamros, expectantly with a goofy grin on his face.

Sense Motive 27 or NOT Leto/Vincenzo:
Bluff:1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27

Gareth is hiding something about his interaction with the goblins that could have easily had something to do with why they turned on the three of them.

I fully expect someone to b*&+% about Gareth's approach, but I'll let you guys do that! :)

"Gareth, tell me what actually happened," Vincenzo cuts in. "If you made a faux pas with the goblins, tell me. This might be important, and the only thing lying to me can accomplish is to make us misallocate resources."

Gareth shrugs and takes a seat. "Okay, okay. Sorry. Everything I've said so far was true. What I didn't tell you is, I just," he scratches his stubble, "you know, decided to do something creative!"

"So right when we showed up to the camp, the goblins started to threaten us and ask us to give up our horses. No can do on that one, so I decided I'd tide them over and pass myself off as a messenger of Zarongel. They totally bought it too! I told them there would be many horses for them to kill if they marched with us. And they were very excited for the slaughter. The barghest obviously knew this wasn't true, but he didn't mind and was willing to listen to my proposal. I just couldn't convince him to go for it, and then I blabbed about how this campaign could be an opportunity to increase his control over the goblins, and then he decided to turn the goblins against me. It was a calculated risk." (Arrested Development Narrator's Voice: "It wasn't")

Gareth looks directly at Vincenzo, and says "I tried, Master Vincenzo. I was this close." He indicates how close it was with his fingers.

Leto pauses for a moment, giving Gareth a long look "What happened to the goblins after that?"

Leto is very concerned that he may have fallen in with genocidal maniacs who first tried to use religion against a group of goblins and then may have killed them all.

Martin turns to Pygrado, "No, I had no idea who the elves were. Why should I?"

Before taking a seat at the table Martin walks over to Leto after his introduction, and offers him a very firm handshake (18 strength) and says, "The name's Martin Stillwaters, wilderness guide. It was good that you warned us about the king."

Turning then to take his seat Martin listen's to Gareth's rendition of the journey, but interrupts when he talks about misleading the goblins, "And bloody well almost got us killed in the process. I do admit you hold your own with a bow Gareth, and there's no denying that I wouldn't be standing here without those divine blessings of yours, but sometimes you get the damned fool'est ideas. We had agree'd not to treat with the Goblins like we were demi-gods and you ignored that." Martin still looks a little angry with Gareth for that, but turns to Vincenzo and continues the tale.
Standing up martin says,
"From there we decided it was best to regroup with the plateau group. We knew that they were still placing explosives and that we had a better chance in that plan as the goblins had obviously failed to work. During the night, we spent our night beneath a hill containing an ancient grave, and continued onward to meet the other group. On meeting them thier mission had clearly failed, which I'm not to clear on the details, but I'm sure they can explain it well to you. After that we got kidnapped by an advanced squad of half-ling, and had the murder of some lieutenant wizard blamed on us. It weren't our fault, but they weren't about to listen to us. One may say it was luck, but I feel that some higher force was at work, anyway, that night a huge monstrous green creature attacked the dwarven camp set to watch over us. It was hideous, and I admit it put the fear of hell into me. While it did almost kill Jamros, it seemed distracted and left us alone after killing the guards. While we were able to make it our, unfortunately we lost all of our gear and supplies. Disheartened, but not completely out We then decided to visit a nearby town to get information about the advancing lines and see if we could be of anymore use. To our dismay, the whole town had been slaughtered already before we got there. We then realized that the town concealed a mine entrance into Silverkeep and that an advanced force was already moving beneath the earth into the heart of Silverkeep. We decided that our best chance of getting aid to silverkeep was to stop the force somehow in the mines and get word to you before they arrived, as a small group can move faster than an entire force. We soon learned of the stone golems and how they had turned into killing machines, but we were able to navigate around the main force and get to the powder room before them. To our dismay, we learned that they had sent an advanced force of assasins and had taken control of the mines. There we did battle with their advanced force, but a few of the assassins got away (as you quickly learned). After taking control of the powder room, we decided to cave in the entrance to stop the remainder of the force and make our way here to make sure that no harm had yet come to the king. That's about the size of it."

Feeling out of breathe from his long winded speech, Martin sits back down.
