Govannon sheathes his scimitar after cleaning the worst of the ichor off the blade. "Well, that was unpleasant. I hope we don't face too much more here, it already feels like a long day!"

He heals himself with a Healing Hex and lights up a smoke.

"Does anyone else need healing? Seems like the trolls took the brunt of the attacks, thank you Aliseeya." He'll help make sure everyone is up to snuff, and Caracotl will use the wand of cure light wounds as well as needed.

When everyone is ready, and healed, he'll redraw his blade and proceed to the double doors carefully.

Aleks sheathes his blades and looks around. Gesturing to the troll, he says "Tell me we're not consorting with more intelligent abominations."

Govannon inhales the smoke deeply, and is careful to blow it out away from Aleksander as he replies, "No, Aliseya is having some trouble figuring out who she is. She had another episode and we ended up with two of these brutes."

He takes another drag, smiling, "They've been rather useful." he leans in, "Though I think Aliseya would rather not have it around at all now that she's more herself again."

The arched bridge ends at a small cobbled terrace with a curious looking iron door depicting a scowling sun being devoured by ravenous clouds. To the left, two hundred feet below, a huge waterfall plummets into the depths.

Aleks smiles ruefully. "Funny you should ask. As I was leaving town, I ran into one of the few high priests of Alseta in all of Ustalav. As it turns out, he was coming into town on personal business. We had a long talk." he says, looking off into the middle distance as he replays the conversation in his mind. "He concluded that I was right to avoid consorting with intelligent undead, but that very temporary use of mindless undead isn't necessarily a problem, so long as they are allowed to depart this plane as soon as practical. There's apparently theological debate as to whether souls remain in mindless zombies, skeletons, and the like, but it's best to be sure. He also reminded me that even the strictest of paladins must sometimes consort with minor evil to bring down great evil, though of course such distasteful alliances should be entered into with great care and only after much prayer and consideration." he looks again at the undead troll. "Like I said, tell me that thing's mindless. And that we're getting rid of it as soon as practical."

Zelda and Govannon notice a hidden bell pull hanging by the eastern side of the iron door.

Govannon nods to Aleksander, "That's a very broad, wise view. It is mindless, and I don't think Aliseya likes it much, so it won't last long I think."

He notices the bell-pull, "Hey, what's this? They had to hear the combat just now, so I don't imagine ringing the bell could hurt."

He looks to the party before pulling the bell, "Shall I?"

If no one says no, he'll pull the bell once everyone is in position. His scimitar is out.

Ali smiles back at Gov's thanks. With wand ready to heal anyone further as needed, she begins to reply in the dark tongue, then midway through continues in common, "...to help out."

Her smile then shifts to a guilty look when Aleks asks about the zombie troll. Averting his gaze, she stammers out a response. "Oh. Uhhh... yeah, well, like Goc said. I did, kinda, sorta, do that. Not me really, but the other me."

Shaking her head and holding her forehead, "I think my bizarre life is gonna drive me to drink."

Looking Aleks in the eyes now, "Intelligent? I... um... don't know?" She shrugs. "Not exactly an everyday occurrence for me, you know." She seems pleased with Gov's assurance that it's in fact mindless.

"Oh I'd love to be rid of the creepy thing. No offense, Mr. uh... Mr Troll?" She adds, as if the zombie troll might be offended. Though it gives absolutely no indication of processing the conversation whatsoever, simply staring soullessly back at Ali.

She continues, "But, um, not so sure it would go away. Voluntarily at least. I could try, I guess?"

She shrugs when Gov suggests ringing the bell. "Go for it. Though I'm not so sure how welcoming the Whispering Way will be to us."

She turns to Aleks, "Yep, you heard that right. Apparently, members of the Way are in there. At least, that's what the troll said. Not the zombie troll, he doesn't say much. The living troll, who went and disappeared."

"No prob, Gov. I'm just happy (to help out)."

Ali tries to motion for the zombie troll to move up front as Zelda suggests.

"Oh! Ew." As Gov rings the bell, Ali cringes as the whiff of rotting zombie flesh enters her nostrils as it passes her.

Frowning, she retrieves a small bottle of perfume from her satchel. She dabs a bit under her nostrils, "Oh, that's... better."

She then looks around at her friends, offering the same to anyone who wishes for a dab before packing her bottle away.

When Govannon pulls the cord you hear the muffled ring of multiple bells on the other side of the iron door. After a moment there is a click somewhere in the door followed by a second click a few seconds later. Suddenly you hear the heavy whoosh of air rushing under and around the door. The air around you begins picking up speed and forms into a huge spinning whirl wind. Dark hollows reminiscent of eyes and a mouth stare at you balefully.

The whirlwind attempts to pull the zombie troll into its vortex (please make two DC21 vortex saves for the troll. If it fails the first it takes 9 pts damage. If it fails the second, it is sucked into the vortex).

Initiatives please. You may preempt the whirl wind if you beat a 24. Otherwise, everyone may take your first round action. Please adjust your positions on Roll20.

Aliseya cautiously steps forward. Her form begins to fumble, and her eyes glaze over...

Her body then stands firm once more. Stern eyes meet the whirlwind fearlessly. But like Aleks, she wonders what she can do against such an elusive creature.

She decides upon speaking some strange, guttural syllables. A violet effervescence manifests in her palm, which she then places upon Aleks' shoulder.

Aleks feels suddenly infused with power. His armor and weapons feel a lighter burden...

Move 25 ft. up and cast bull's strength on Aleks. It lasts for 6 minutes.

Govannon - Don't forget you're still under bull's strength, too. I imagine you still have over 5 minutes left on your casting.

Round 1

The raging whirlwind sucks up the zombie troll and pulls it into its vortex.

Zelda and Govannon both attack the whirlwind, but miss.

The trapped troll manages to dissipate a small portion of the elemental with its jaws.

Round 2

The whirlwind now moves along the bridge and attempts to pull Govannon into the vortex (Please make two DC 21 reflex saves. If you miss the first, you take 10 hp damage. If you miss the second, you are pulled into the vortex).

The troll is continuously spun and thrashed in the vortex (17 hp damage).

The trapped troll is unable to hit the whirlwind.

The elemental ejects the troll zombie from the whirlwind - the undead minion flies spinning to the river below where it impacts with a large splash.

Govannon continues to be thrashed within the whirlwind (11 hp damage).

Round 3

Emerging from the waters, the undead troll looks up at its airy nemesis with its one remaining soulless eye. Water spills out of the empty socket from where its other eye once was. With flesh hanging from its dilapidated form, as if but a few ligaments remain on some body parts, the creature presses on and drags its way back to the air elemental for another attack.

Not sure how steep a drop it was, but the troll will attack if it can get into melee again, otherwise double-move up to it.

The elemental ejects Govannon out of the whirlwind and sends him spinning out into the open space - high above the water.

Govannon begins to fall, albeit slowly (feather fall is always active). He quickly uses his fly hex to regain his altitude and closes back up with the vortex. Sadly, no attacks are forthcoming as the fly hex is a standard action… But he’s in a position to catch any others who may fall.

The elemental ejects both Aleksander and Zelda from the whirlwind -
releasing them both into the open space above the water. The elemental then ceases the whirlwind and forms into a vaguely humanoid
tornado shape and moves in to pummel Aliseya with an airy fist (15 hp damage.).

Everyone may take their 6th round actions.

Govannon tries to catch both Zelda and Aleksander as they begin to fall. Not sure what the maneuver would be if any, but I imagine it’s all I can do to catch them and maybe land this round.

Govannon, it will be a separate fly check to catch each of them - the first is DC 15 and the second is DC 20. The spell says that you can't carry more than your max load (117 lbs?), which probably isn't enough for you to fly with either. But you may slow their descent (-50% falling damage for one, -25% falling damage each for two).

Fall damage is 8d6 since you're falling into water.


Human

Faced with the impossibility of saving them both, and difficulty saving even one, he also worries about leaving Aliseya alone and defenseless against their foe - who could simply pick her up and toss her as well.

Govannon instead flies up to face the elemental. "Godsdamnit!" he swears as the party is torn apart.
