She then heads south.

Sami appears again as she completes the casting of a spell, directed as Serelina.

Sami then drops prone, disappearing from sight due to the plant growth in the courtyard.

The panther attacks Leo, biting and clawing savagely.

Leo moves up to 30 feet after the retreating man, and if he gets a line of sight on him, casts another Hold Person spell while out of range of the large cat(DC 19).

This will provoke from the cat, probably. That's cool. Leo will wait until after Rilumin shoots if that helps.

Ian sees the man fleeing at obscene speed and he shouts after Leo, "If you tag him, yell!" And turns to check on Serelina. If she's still just looming and casting ominously, he'll 5' step north and attack the leopard or demonthingy.

@Group: Looks like Serelina is out of action with Blindness. I'd like to take the half-orc alive, since the catfolk was killed outright. I'm debating having Roland cast Fly (via Evolution) on himself and chase down Sami, but want to see how the other actions go.

@Ian: if you can't help Leo, attack the satyr-demon-thing that Roland is grappling. Roland will need to leave it here if he chases after Sami

Ian shouts towards Serelina, "Witch! You need help?"

If she's fine he'll 5' step north and attack the satyr-demon. If she needs help he'll double move to her.


Rilumin kills the panther with a single shot.

Serelina isn't currently in any visible danger. Go ahead and roll attacks against the eidolon Ian.

Leo chases after the human male, but without the benefit of magically enhanced speed, even a double move does not get him to a position where he can see the fleeing man.

@Leo: Sadly I think we won't catch up with Digger, the human that took off to the north. Given his speed and likely very high stealth check, he is unfortunately gone. Recommend helping Ian with the little guy, stabilizing/tying up the half-orc for later questions, and defending Serelina should anybody try attacking us here again. Can also loot the Catfolk's body

@Rilumin: Not sure if you will, but if you get any chance to shoot Sami, take it. Roland's going after her

Seeing the human run off and Ian take a nasty chunk out of the grappled creature, Roland released his hold of the small beast. He then called forth his innate magic, disregarding the satyr-demon's possible strike, and imbued himself with the ability to fly. He then immediately launched in the air in Sami's direction.

Free Action release grapple, Standard Action cast Evolution Surge for Flight (60' move, Good Maneuverability), then Move Action to fly to A35. The small eidolon will get an AoO on Roland for the spell casting.

Sami did not cast the haste spell, there was another caster, but Serelina did not LoS to them due to the buildings.

Despite Ian's heavy blow, the eidolon remains standing.

It takes a swipe at Roland has he casts his flight spell, but does not land a blow.

Roland launches into the air, and over the buildings, heading back to find Sami, while Rilumin runs along the roof top.

The eidolon gives a wicked grin at Ian, and in perfect common, "Vower will find you tasty." Then proceeds to claw at Ian's face.
Attacks: 28, 29 (crit confirm 10). Damage 5, 5

The eidolon then vanishes, released by its master.

No visible enemies in sight.

@GM: Roland ended last round at A35 and flying. With Sami at F31, he would have been able to see her even with the hedge row there. I'm guessing she moved last round. Roland will fly after her which ever way she went. He can Fly at 60' so if he can reach her this round he'll move in to attack as well.

Serelina concentrates on where she was when blind and teleports herself above roof level and ten feet to the east, getting out of danger on a rooftop instead of sitting blindly around. She then ducks down so no one who is not on a rooftop should be able to see her up there.

Not seeing a current threat near him, Leo begins checking out the fallen enemies.

He'll tie up whoever is still living (im guessing not the cat folk) "I'm going to have to heal him to stabilize him. I, uhh, never had to learn how to do it without magic. Gather close if you want to be partially restored"


At A35, with Sami prone on the ground at F31, the plants/hedges block line of sight to her.

Roland, what is the source of your flight? I was trying to figure out your flight movement speed - based on the 60' per the spell, or just a natural form of flight at 30' base speed, but I couldn't figure out how you were flying on your character sheet. I was looking because I'm not sure you can make it to A35, you'd need to go 10' up to clear the building tops, or do orthogonal movement to move around the buildings.

Rilumin continues readying his action to shoot Sami when she becomes visible. unless someone else has a better idea


@GM: Roland's flight comes from the spell Evolution Surge. Essentially he temporarily gives his Eidolon "suit" the flight evolution. He could use it for other evolutions instead but he typically uses it to be able to fly

I hadn't factored in gaining elevation to fly over the rooftop, so I'd like to retcon the spell casting for Evolution Surge. Instead, Roland would have released the little satyr eidolon from grapple as a free action, then done a double move from -H43 to B32. His ground speed in Eidolon form is 40', so 80' of move on a double move. From B32 he should have line of sight on Sami at F31, to see her casting a spell. If the spell is anything other than some kind of Invisibility, Roland's next action will be a move to G30 (he'll take the AoO from Sami) and a single attack action. If she casts something to make herself Invisible, Roland will cast Evolution Surge for see invisibility, then move to G30

@Rilumin: Trying to get line of sight on Sami is definitely your best action at this point. Because it took you only one round to kill the leopard, you could have moved to -B39 that same round. I'd recommend dropping down from the rooftop as a move action into -B38, then another move action to get to A34. This wouldn't quite give you line of sight, but you would be very close. Next round you should be able to do a 5' step to bring her into view. The GM said Sami is prone in square F31, so even if she casts a spell to make herself Invisible you should fire a full-round actions' worth of arrows into F31.


B32 does give you line of sight.

While still prone, Sami completes her spell and disappears from sight.


Rounding the corner, Roland's hulking form appeared just in time to see Sami wink out of sight. In response, Roland weaved his innate magic to give himself the power to see invisible objects. The spell cast, he then bolted past Sami's position to loom over the woman. He also calls out in a booming voice, THE TARGET IS HERE, while pointing directly at Sami.

Cast Evolution Surge for see invisibility as a standard action. The rest of Roland's actions assume he can then see Sami still in or around square F31. Given that she burned her standard action to cast a spell, her move action is likely to stand up from prone, with only a 5ft step to spare, she should be no more than one square from F31. Roland will move to the square contiguous with Sami's to the southwest (so G30 if she's in F31). As a Free Action he'll also call out Sami's position so that Rilumin can shoot into her square with a 50/50 miss chance.


Is this coming from the Major Magic evolution? If so that grants the SLA, but using the SLA would be another standard action (you'd also need to have minor magic evolution before taking major magic). If its an immediate effect, then Rilumin will be able to make a full attack vs total concealment.


@GM:I forgot I have Expeditious Retreat active. That's on me for forgetting to this point, so not asking for a retcon. But just for future movement reference.

Didn't realize I'd need Minor Magic Evolution to take Major Magic Evolution, given that it was by spell. In that case, he'll take the Blindsense Evolution. Would work the same way, except Roland would have 50/50 miss chance when he attacked. This is an immediate effect, not an SLA, so he would still be able to tell Rilumin where Sami was, and Rilumin could make a full attack action (w./ 50-50 miss chance) against her.

EDIT: Actually, doesn't Rilumin have something that negates concealment? If so, then he wouldn't have the miss chance. The ability would have to overcome Full Concealment though.


That will cover it. I don't think Rilumin can negate total concealment, but he is free to fire away as Roland moves adjacent to Sami and points her out.

Rilumin sees the eidolon's waving and indications, and takes a moment to visualize a person of approximate size in that space, lines up his shots, and lets the arrows fly.

IPS negates all but full concealment, so miss chance applies. 51+ penetrates concealment (assuming her concealment is 50%). Doing Tangling Attack on hit, so she will be Entangled for 1 round if any of these hit.

@Leo: I think Rilumin meant Roland when he said "Eidolon", since Roland is currently in Fused Eidolon form. Roland was indicating where Rilumin should shoot.

That was a nice shot. The first and third arrows will likely miss, but pretty sure Arrow #2 is just a 52hp whopper. Rocosmia (aka "Sami") seems to be a face skill-ish bard build. Not sure she has a whole lot of hp left.

@GM: flipping back a few posts, do we have any idea who "Vower" is? Can't recall having heard that name before.


Vower is not a name you've heard before.

Rilumin's second arrow strikes the woman. 38 is the total damage, not 38 + 14, it was already added in to the 38

Sami screams out, "Help me, someone please help me." A desperate cry of a woman in distress. The entangling cords of Rilumin's arrow beginning to fall away as she moves west, placing a building between herself and the archer. Roland can easily track her to G24

No, she was. I was just providing descriptive text of the entangle wearing off at the end of her turn. She was reduced to half movement speed from the entangle.


Roland moves swiftly to follow Sami, pointing directly to where she stood for the others to see. Your weak magic is laughable, he intoned in an unearthly, almost disembodied voice so different from his own. You are under arrest for the murder of Master Torenest. Submit now! Making it obvious that he can detect her location, he then attempted to grab and restrain the woman.

Move action to H34, pointing out Sami's square to the rest of the party. Then attempt to grapple. This would draw an AoO should she choose to take it. I'll roll the 50/50 chance (51 or more is a miss) and the Grapple Check below

EDIT: That outta do it. @Party: Give Roland a chance to knock her out before hitting her with lethal damage. Maybe ready actions to hit her if she escapes my grapple. She isn't the ideal captive but better than getting no one alive.

With the noise and commotion, one bouncer steps out of the front of the restaurant the two were in earlier, a cudgel in hand, but stops in front of the doorway, coming no closer.

Two young men, in the their late teens or early twenties however, 40' further west down the street, draw rapiers and come running forward. "Take your hands off the lady." one commands, though his voice cracks slightly at his attempted bravado.


Roland gave Sami an amused look she couldn't see through the void-faced mask he wore. Remarkably good shot with that dagger, he thought and almost made an irreverent comment before realizing it would be utterly out of character in his current guise. Instead he boomed, Submit! You are under arrest! Then proceeded to attempt to squeeze the rest of the air out of Sami's lungs.

As the bartender and two youths stepped into view he took a moment to marvel at their bravery. Here I am, a 7' tall celestial warrior with four arms and a hooded, empty face and these brave souls would challenge me to help a damsel in distress. And who says this city lacks upstanding character! Not wanting to harm any of the recent arrivals, Roland instead chose the diplomatic route. Brave souls you are! You are to be commended for your desire to protect the defenseless, law-abiding citizens of Coran. The city guard have need of men such as yourself! However, in this case your concerns are mistaken. This "lady" here is one of a marauding band that have conspired to inflict tragedy on this fair city. She is presently resisting arrest, as she materially assisted in the murder of a high mage of the Tower. Crimes such as these must not go unpunished in the city.

Standard action to inflict non-lethal grappling damage on Sami, rolled below. No move action, but free action talk/diplomacy to persuade youths and bouncer to back off.

i guess rilumin would delay until Sami or the new boys. Thought about shooting an arrow at their feet to let em know we mean business but that'd waste a precious standard and i can't intimidate at range.

Leo begins running, remembers the unsearched and unwatched corpses and falters. "I'll secure this area!" he shouts after Ian.

He'll then busy himself with telling passerby's to take an alternate route around the dead, dropping his illusion (all but his eyes) to look like himself in his official capacity, his shield painted with the Tower's sigil. "Tower business folks. Please take another road for now."

He'll begin searching the bodies, collecting blood samples, and dragging them to be near each other and off the road so long as people are giving him room. If people hang around near him, he'll instead keep watch on them and continue to insist that they back away and take another route.

Ian, don't forget your recent +16 HP

@Leo: Good call to protect the bodies. I'd like to take them with us, along with the gear.

@Ian: Your best move would be double moves rather than the run action, given all the twists and turns to get from your location to where Roland is. You've declared movement for two full rounds, which by my calculations would get you to D36 and in full view of Roland and Rilumin's situation
