Looks like we have thrall creation, misleading enemies using thralls as bait, attacking with thralls, narrative justification for only attacking with one thrall when two were created (Puppeteer benefit), creative use of the Bones subclass focus spell, and a good example of combining important bones and disposable thralls narratively on a character. Possibly the Bone Speaker feat at play too.
Usharak showing himself to very much not be above using evil ends while still not harming innocents (that we see) is a nice balance for an iconic.

Something tells me Usharak is going to be disappointed by the demands of whatever demonic librarian controls that library. Demons are never interested in selfless sacrifice, they desire the destruction of the innocent, the good, and the pure. Whatever this librarian is going to ask for in return, it's not going to be just Usharak's soul in return.

Something tells me Usharak is going to be disappointed by the demands of whatever demonic librarian controls that library. Demons are never interested in selfless sacrifice, they desire the destruction of the innocent, the good, and the pure. Whatever this librarian is going to ask for in return, it's not going to be just Usharak's soul in return.
What if it's more than a librarian waiting there?

The lore on how Thrall creation works is interesting to me here. Seems that the thralls are simulacra rather than the actual raising of the person. He's still using necromantic energy and he is using the actual remains of the person, but he's using it to create a copy of them as a thrall.
To me, this is a major distinction. Even in the story it implies that he calls the same people (or rather copies them) for each specific task over and over. Frankly, I'm a big fan of this approach to the lore.

Given summon spells are similar where it is not actually bringing a real creature in but a magic simulacrum would be a decent way for necros to maintain their dark vibes without really violating pharasmas edicts unless they really choose to by using rituals and the like to make real undead.

Nice try, but, however fleetingly, creating thralls is still bringing undead into existence.
I do not expect a Cleric of Pharasma to multiclass in Necromancer and create thralls. Just as I do not expect them to Summon Undead.

But I always try to plan my break around a Paizo Blog.

Considering Usharak has already run into several demons that wouldn't surprise me. Whatever our iconic Necromancer tries to bargin with, I doubt it's going to be willing to let him walk away with just his own soul forfit.

Letting his village come back with their demonic part in control might be just the thing.
Or slaughtering another entirely different village full of people in return for bringing his village back. And even if Usharak does it, I'd imagine the people of his village would be twisted demonically somehow after being brought back. Never trust a Fiend with a deal.
This is where I really wish the forums would let me insert a GIF of evil laughter as I watch the theories unfold.
Never. Trust. A. Fiend. I swear I'm going to have that tattooed under the eyelids of everyone on Golarion.
I was never the kid who sat in the back of the car whining through the whole trip "are we there yet?" but... Can we have a Pathbuilder file for Usharak? Or at least a few character sheets? I could get to like this guy. :-)
