You didn't think Pathfinder would have all the dragon fun this month, did you? Check out the fierce dragons of the Pact Worlds in today's blog about the dragons from Starfinder Alien Core!

LOOOVE the dragons introduced in Alien Core, and the artwork is fantastic! My favorites are definitely the Akashic and Cosmic, but all four are spectacular and rich with storytelling opportunities. Also, imagine a Host Dragon with the Nanite template o.O

Really looking forward to seeing what other dragons might come up in future books! Maybe a Drift Dragon, for example =D

I LOVE THESE TOO! THE ONLY THING FOR ME BETER THAN DRAGONS IS DRAGONS IN SPACE!

I wonder if the old 1e Outer Dragons are just fully gone, now. I'd miss them if so - though the Cosmic Dragon sounds like a nice successor.

They're not. Those things were created by us, so they're not OGL entanglements. We just can't do everything we did in 1st edition all at once. We may or may not get to them, as with any other non-OGL creature we created for the game before the remastering happened.

It's just that we also want to do new things.

I hope they are at least considered for a future product. It feels very weird to me that Draconic Codex is coming out, and out of this whole big book of dragons only two of them (Havok, Time) are actually returning from 1e. We got more new dragons than old ones, and there's still three categories of them almost fully waiting for conversion. I understand it's not a priority, but it feels bad for someone who's a fan of these old dragons seeing entirely new stuff take their place in the release schedule.

As someone who didn't really click with the old dragons, I'm one of the folks glad that we're getting a whole bunch of new ones to explore the new space, a little farther afield for what dragons can be. The new occult dragons do a much better job than the old esoteric dragons for me, for example.

But, I also have to acknowledge my place as the person in all my game groups least likely to appreciate the "dragon-shaped dragon with a thematic coat of paint" approach that 1e had.

Silver Crusade

I am looking forward to some player options relating to those dragons

I both love and (imagine puke emoji here) at everything to do with the Host dragon, it's perfect, and I don't wanna think about it too much.

I'm really curious what a Dragonblood from an Akashic Dragon would look like. Perhaps similar to a purple Nothic?

The Cosmic Dragons have one of the most mechanically unique star blocks I've seen. Not to spoil too much, but I absolutely love how they have both an aura, and a MOVEABLE AoE that copies their aura. They're like a blend of Witchwarper and Solarian, and it makes my mind race as a DM. I love the idea of a boss creating a general "bad stuff area" and being able to change its effects each turn!

Great work from the Starfinder team.
