[A God Falls where Magic Fails] Mythic Points

Pathfinder Society

Hello, I have a question about mythic points.

Spoiler:
Oozeshard has mythic trait.

Quote:
Monsters with the mythic trait have access to a pool of Mythic Points and are particularly strong for creatures of their level. Many mythic monsters are either resistant or entirely immune to attacks from non-mythic creatures and weapons.

1/ So a party without non-mythic weapon can't fight the oozeshard ? And the party will lose the fight ?

3/ With 3 Mythic Points, how can the oozeshard use it ?

Thanks for your future answer.

I haven't taken the full time to explore the Mythic rules, but I've given to understand that a non-mythic party can indeed fight a mythic creature, but that it will be much stronger than normal for a creature of its level. I don't know what level the monster you listed is, but it should have a number of basic mythic abilities that make it hardier than normal. Some of these abilities will explicitly cost Mythic Points.

For example, when I look at the Mythic Griffon, I see that it has roughly the same stats as a common griffon with the exception of a higher Acrobatics modifier (listed as its "Mythic Skill") and a handful of powers which seem to come from the Mythic Striker type.

Notably, the mythic griffon has "Mythic Striker" (when it moves 10+ feet, it gains precision damage on the next strike) and may spend 1 mythic point to use Unimpeded to automatically cast off restraints. Finally, it has the ability to spend a mythic point to give itself +4 Acrobatics and is considered to have 'mythic' proficiency in that skill for the next roll.

I think I read somewhere that mythic monsters are expected to be about 2 levels more difficult than they normally would be, but as you might see here, a very lucky party that's well-equipped might manage to slay a mythic griffon as easily as a normal griffon provided it doesn't get a chance to use its strikes to their fullest effect.

(although skimming the mythic rules, it feels like the mythic griffon must be missing something from the basic mythic abilities, unless I'm missing an important limitation. A Mythic Striker like the griffon doesn't gain mythic fortitude, but it doesn't have any mythic resistance at all, which it should have gained a first level?)

I'm not familiar with an Oozeshard specifically, where is that detailed?

In general a mythic monster will have abilities defined for what it gets. It'll say it has Mythic Resistence for example if it has resistence to attacks, in which case nonmythic PCs will have to deal with that.

Likewise as Sibelius Eos Owm mentioned, if it has abilities that it can spend mythic points on, it'll say that somewhere in its stat block. Or it might say "it has the mythic ambusher abilities" in which case it gets whats listed in for that mythic monster template in War of Immortals.

If none of that is listed, then it doesn't appear to have any way to spend mythic points.

Considering the title of the thread, I'm assuming it can be found in the PFS Scenario of the same name.

1) No, Mythic monsters will list any mythic defenses they have. I don't believe the oozeshard actually has any.

2) Mythic monsters will have abilities that give them ways to spend their mythic abilities.

From the impression I got from my GM when they ran this adventure, the mythic tag is just flavor this time.
