I know a few have mentioned the very little support for thrown ikons, but I've also noticed that theres also straight up nothing for weapons that need to reload. Setting aside pop culture icons (no pun intended) and Greco-Roman demigods; one of my first thoughts for what an exemplar might be in irl myth is David; but there really not any form of support to make reload weapons worth using
Is there any reason to exclude these weapons?

If there aren't any options in the final product, I'd guess space is the reason. Not a whole lot of gun or sling wielding heroes around. David is pretty alone in that regard, so the rest has more priority.
It certainly wouldn't be the mechanics that are the problem. A weapon ikon with a transcend that includes a reload and you're mostly done.

Oooh, I have an idea. Probably too strong, but this is more for fun than a serious suggestion.
Immanence: Your weapon ikon deals 1 additional spirit damage per weapon damage die to the creatures it strikes.
Transcend - Divine Double Tap ♦♦ (spirit)
Requirement you are wielding a ranged weapon with reload 1. A second bullet of pure divine energy follows the path of your first. Make two Strikes. Your multiple attack penalty applies normally to these strikes. Both Strikes must have the same target. The first strike deals damage normally, but the second deals all of its damage as spirit damage.
Basically only gives you a free reload, but is flavorful.

I'm not sure it is too powerful. That is basically a ranged version of the transcendence ability we have for staves already isn't it?

Reload ranged weapons are a type of weapon ikon we have our eye on (when sketching out possible directions for this class, the spear and sling were the first two weapon ikons I jotted down in my notebook), it just wasn't given a bespoke option for the playtest, with fated shot and various feats being the test ground for ranged ikons. As always, the playtest is shorter than the space allocation for the final book, and we typically expand these major class path deciders after testing with a smaller sample.

Thanks for the feedback! Just played a crossbow exemplar, and it was a bit rough with what's in the playtest. The big damage die was nice, and if we get an ikon that supports it better, I think it will feel good. (That said, I'd appreciate it leaning towards sling support more than crossbow, just 'cuz it's more in line with the theme and slings don't work with Gunslinger.)

Oh, this makes me very glad to hear! When I first saw the class, the first two things I imagined was a javalin/spear thrower with a shield that acted as a legendary commander, and sling using folk hero, so I'm very very happy!
