I've now DMed both Rise of the Runelords and Curse of the Crimson Throne and one thing both of them had was a plethora of high definition recreations of Paizo's battlemaps which are perfect for playing on a virtual tabletop. I've had some real trouble trying to find anything similar for Return, is there really nothing out there?
Alternatively, I suppose this thread could be the start of a map collection that would help people in the future.

So after desperately searching for hours, scouring every corner of the web and barely escaping with my sanity, I decided to just learn Dungeondraft and make the maps myself.
Here is the google drive link.
I'll try my best to, eventually, recreate every map. I can't say how long it's going to take, but hopefully it will help save people some headache in the future.
And obviously if anyone else is up to the task then post your creations in this thread! Return desperately needs some mapping love. :)

Hey!
Sorry I've seen this topic too late. I kinda reached the same conclusion and went for learning Dungeondraft. Really like your maps!
I made fully Book 1 (except the Peacock Manor - I skipped that one) and now I'm almost done with Book 2. Here is the Google Drive link with my maps - I'll be uploading Book 2 stuff in a month or so. I also have the VTT versions for most of them, in case you need 'em.

Awesome work! I've enjoyed mapping so much that I'll keep making my own version of the maps(but I might just take some inspiration from you ;P)

I would ask that, in the future, you strongly consider exporting your maps with the grid OFF.
If it is at all possible for you to re-export your existing maps with the grid off, that would be very helpful as well.

Good idea, I'll make a separate section on the google drive for gridless maps.
Hi guys,
Here's my first map for the Return of the Runelords AP, Rocdrick's Wreck.
I made a slight change to the layout, so that the stairs fit from the ground to the first floors. kinda looks ok.
Enjoy.
That is incredibly impressive. Love how much you paid attention to the details described in the AP. I hope one day my maps reach your level because holy crap that's cool. Thanks for sharing!

Your maps are great, and I'm sure you'll get better and better as you develop your skills. I'll add the other maps to the album as and when I get them finished. :)Askar Avari |
Great work vornn and Ziday! Someday soon it looks like we might be able to put together a library of maps, which would be an incredible boon for future DMs! The maps of Return are often extremely bare-bones (not to mention weirdly aligned), so I think this could really help DMs interested in this campaign.
And vornn, wow! You went above and beyond with Roderic's Wreck. Almost makes me sad for anyone who isn't running their game via VTT.

Added maps to Book 1 link:
Hallen's Ferry map (grid/gridless)
The vindictive Traveller map (grid/gridless)
Alaznist's Armory (grid/gridless) - note, i created the inside of the vault seperate as i imagined it to be more tardis like on the inside. i'll create a version with it in the original place if anyone wants that.
grids, don't talk to me about grids...

FYI - I'm running book 5 now, City Outside of Time, and realized there's a lot of missing maps in that book. Not as concerned with random encounters in the city, there's lots of options for city streets maps. However, there's no map for Event 5 or Event 8, dealing with the cult master, or rune giant queen, both of which are likely to be complex combat encounters. Also, event 7 doesn't have a map, but is a far simpler scene and combat. I had checked this thread to see if anyone had suggested digital maps to use, but didn't find any.

I've added the map for Peacock Manor to the album.
Due to the size of the original map and the contents of those rooms, I've expanded the rooms a little to provide a little more space.
Go to Book 1 - Secrets of Roderic's Cove

Fantastic work! I didn't have time to make the peacock manor before my players got there so I'm glad everyone else will have access to yours in the future.

that looks great. nice work. :D
I've added the Dust to Dust map to the gallery.

Added The Gauntlet into the gallery, grid and gridless, as always.
Trying to export at 140dpi, look way better and size isn't too stupid.
As always, DD2VTT files are available.
:)
Have you tried the WebP format? I'm exporting at 256 ppi at 80% WebP quality and it looks incredibly good considering the file size.

Gecko has been uploaded into the Book 3 Gallery.

Can't thank you enough for the effort you're putting into this vornn. I feel a bit uncomfortable with just leeching off of your maps after starting this thread so I might start making random encounter maps for the different areas in this AP.
As always great work =)

haha, leech away buddy, i've no issues with you using these maps, but do keep making those maps, it's good to keep practicing. :)
i'm starting to export everything as 140dpi webp if you want those?
