Yeah I don't think the "choose your list" is actually part of the power budget for the sorcerer or the summoner (the other stuff your bloodline/eidolon choice does sure, but not "which list"), so it's weird to think that the Witch whose patron choice does less than those choices somehow would be stronger if it didn't involve making a subclass choice at all.

I just use Witches+ which fixes most of my dislike of it.

Other things they could do:

Yes. Speaking to feats:

Eldritch Nails needs to have Finesse, not Agile. And either remove or fix the knock-off Spellstrike part of it too. Currently, Hex Delivery is completely broken and the nails attack itself is not worth using.

Murksight should apply to magical weather at the very least. And probably be available before level 8.

Wortwitch to get a Leshy Familiar is useless without the Leshy Familiar Secrets feat.

I think buffing the weaker hex cantrips and being able to pick up a couple more with feats is the main change I'd do.

Bard is... probably a bad comparison. Dirge of Doom and Inspire Courage are, frankly, OP.

Honestly I think upsets me more than anything else that Murksight is just a straight downgrade over a similar druid feat that you can pick up seven levels earlier.

I know we shouldn't really be comparing classes 1:1 that much, but storm born vs murksight hurts.

I sort of disagree. Bards are very strong, but at the same time the class exists and is not going anywhere. We just had a major CRB errata with no changes to the Bard, so Paizo is clearly happy with where they are.

Given that that's the standard that exists, it's the standard Witches will be inevitably compared to.

Especially since you only have to pay for it directly if you get it from Druid Archetype. It comes free by picking Storm order at level 1 or when taking Order Explorer (Storm order).

Bards aren't OP. They're the golden standard. That's a very different outlook.

They're rewarding to play and you feel like your support matters. That's how every other class should feel.

All classes are rewarding to play and you feel like your contribution matters. Choosing the Bard as the golden standard is a choice.

As the Bard is still considered the best spellcaster, it's not a good golden standard. If every class needs to be equivalent to the Bard then you are getting into power creep.
