character regestration help

I'm looking at registering a character for Starfinder society for the first time. The registration form asks for a Homepage URL. Is that required, and what is it used for?

It's not required. You don't need to fill in anything after name and faction, to register a character.

The only case I've ever come across where further detail entered in this site was used is for play-by-post games played on these forums.

Thanks that helps a lot I'm looking at play-by-post after the Meatspace Crisis lead to my local game store going out of business after 40 years. I didn't realize the SFS registration was the character sheet for PBP as it looks different when you read it already filed out on someone else character profile. Especially the little Description box where some people are adding 15+ pages of detail.
