Legend of Vox Machina

So the first three episodes are up on Amazon

Now I have not heard the Podcasts so I'm kind of going in blind to this series

and it was a lot of fun
I like the characters and it's got a good mix of drama and comedy. Plus the relationships in the group feel really solid, which I guess makes sense considering.

Looking forward to the next three

Scarab Sages

I saw this yesterday, while scrolling through the new stuff to find the Hotel Transylvania movie for my daughter.

Having watched some of it already, do you think it would appropriate for young kids?

oh gosh no

Mild nudity, lots of swears and a buckets of blood and guts

Scarab Sages

Thanks. That's why I wanted to ask. Still, sounds like I might have a new series to watch.

We saw Scanlan’s taint and balls in the first fifteen minutes, mild might be the wrong descriptor

Really enjoyed the first three!

It's a cartoon so everything but the swearing I find odd to complain about. The art style isn't even particularly realistic. "Nudity" LOL!

It's rated at "16+" if that helps.

If you liked Amazon's Invincible you might like this.

I found the first episode to have an odd mix of scatological humor, sexual elements, hyper-serious character backstory and physics-defying combat to really get into it. I might watch the rest of it at some point but won't be setting aside time to make sure I do.

Episodes 1-2 are newly written for the show and were then rewritten at the last minute when their original scripts didn't pass muster, which may explain how it feels a bit off.

Episode 3 starts adapting the first season of Critical Role proper, cutting out the first few episodes (where were in media res, because they didn't start recording the show until they were a fair way through the campaign) to focus on the Briarwood story, which I believe was the first story arc that viewers got to see executed from start to finish. Intriguing, for not being traditionally D&D-ish (it's a deposed gunslinger noble taking on the vampires who stole his home). Episode 3 is a big step up in quality over the first two.

I do wonder if the weekly release approach was the right move for this show. It's worked for some of their live-action shows, but it feels this one might have benefitted from a binge drop, or being dropped in 3x4 bursts of episodes.

Good to know. If I pick this back up I'll drop in on E3 and see. Thanks!

Apparently I missed the fact that they are doing burst-releases. So they dropped another 3 episodes today, another 3 next Friday and the final 3 after that, which is a reasonable way of doing it.

ROTFLMAO this show is glorious! wait 'till you hear the bard song in Episode 3. It's somewhat related to dirtypool's comment.

NSFK!!! GOD NO: NSFK!!!

It's better than a lot of stuff showing now, and I'll probably watch it through to the end.

Scanlan, the Man with the Hand. Solo mission of mayhem

and I think we all know the terror of villains with Charm Person.

Spoiler:
also nice to see Pike in full "Deus Ex" mode

Is that the ending? It didnt seem like an ending but they released 3 episodes an I don't see more coming.

No, there's 12 episodes in Season 1. They released the first 3 on 28 January, episodes 4-6 last week and episodes 7-9 this week. 10-12 will be next week.

I kind of like this sort of release scheduled. Gives you a good dose if you like bingeing, while still leaving you chomping at the bit for next week

I like this series a lot. Animation is good, nice balance of anime and western style. Characters have fun challenges to overcome as they develop.

What I love most about it is how it captures the chaos an RPG campaign where some players are super serious and have this complicated backstory, some characters are struggling with who they want their character to be, one guy just wants to kill things, and another just wants to bang the world.

Oh, and one guy wants to play a gunslinger even though there are no guns in the setting.

Most I've enjoyed an RPG based show since Record of Lodoss War.

You guys might want to bring back this thread, because Season 2 is landing on January 10th :)

Damn the new season has been great so far. That first episode was just insane

I love how the Black Dragon was raining acid from it's wings down on the city and the Red....holy hell that was amazing.

and apparently they just announced Mighty Nein coming soon to Amazon.
