When will Chronicle of Legends finally get vetted for Society play?

There's lots of good stuff in there that offers no reason not to be Society-legal (for example, I have a character for whom the Esoteric Knight prestige class would be ideal), and if the answer is 'never' just because it's 1st Edition, then that's really unfair for those of us who still play 1st Edition Pathfinder Society.

Do you mean Lost Omens Legends?

It was sanctioned a while ago.

No, he's asking about a 1st edition product (it came out June 2019). Eventually, maybe? They have to focus on the current campaigns and when they have spare time they'll look at 1st edition stuff to sanction. I wouldn't hold your breath for too long, I think it'll be a while.

Oh. Sorry. Reading comprehension fail. Thought they wanted to recreate a 1E character in 2E.

I concur that sanctioning 1E material is probably of lowest priority.

I personally don't think anything else will ever be sanctioned.

For what it's worth, I think given infinite time and resources, the Org Play team would probably love to sanction all the old PF1 content. But just reading some of Tonya and Michael's comments in other threads make it clear that, like many these days, they are managing to just get by. PF2 is still young and requires a lot of care and feeding. PF1 still leaves you with 10 years of content to use even if they haven't hit the last few books.

Still hoping for the sanctioning of Return of the Runelords so we'll have some lvl 19-20 organized play content. It's something that was committed to back in the pre-pandemic era, so I understand why this project may be moving slowly.

Have to agree with Nefreet, I don't see anything 1e being sanctioned anytime soon.

Any updates for this? I'm not going to spend money on a product that I will never get to use...

Latest Blog post talking about sanctioning said

Quote:
By month’s end, we aim to have sanctioning posted for Extinction Curse and the remainder of The Threefold Conspiracy. We’ll post a blog when we add them to the website, so keep an eye out on Thursdays! The team is also currently working through Tyrant’s Grasp and will begin to look at the still unsanctioned APs in the coming weeks.

So, it would seem that the team is definitely working at -some- 1e products (AP's having been named). I Guess an optimistic estimate would be that once Tyrant's Grasp is sanctioned, we'd get the other(?) unsanctioned AP's (Return of the runelords? Not sure if any other AP's are unsanctioned). Maybe they'll get to working on other 1e products after that, but honestly, not holding my breath here and probably wouldn't plan characters around anything published in Chronicle of Legends.

EDIT: Although, you could still use the Chronicle of Legends stuff in a homegame, maybe playing an AP?

What home game, though? There's nothing where I live (nothing that lasts, at any rate).

If I could do a home game, I'd want to go much further afield - I've been yearning to play a Pact Magic Binder since the 3.5 days, for example.

Play By Post campaigns and there's sometimes recruitment on the Org Play Online discord for adventure paths or modules. I'm not too familiar with them but I assume Pathfinder RPG, Roll for Combat, and Cosmic Crittermancers might also offer some chances for non-society play (although some of these probably favor organized play heavily).

It's not an ideal solution to scratch that itch, but it's an option?

Lol, sorry for the misunderstanding. I am not worried about having material to play for Pathfinder Society 1e. I'm just concerned that the book (and its contents) won't ever be allowed. Magic Trick seems really fun with Shield and Unseen Servant; and the Exemplar Traits look like they would be fun to play around. But based on the blog, that does put some of my unrest at ease.

If you are willing to play online, you can almost surely find a group, either existing that you could join, or by recruiting through the various online groups.

It would help if someone could...facilitate me. I'm old-fashioned in some ways (and in the myriad ways I'm radical, it's all in ways that are completely counter to what's currently "hip" - real nerds are uncool, and proud of it! - buuut I digress), and...I just wouldn't know where to begin if I just dove right in to the venues Tommi suggested. It's too much visual data to process (and visual processing may be a personal problem of mine).

I would start with Discord + Roll20. pfschat is a good place to start with that. They can help you get into online PFS games. That will give you the practice using the technology. From there you can often find people recruiting for various APs and home games.

pfschat? The link doesn't go anywhere for me.

I'm thinking about running some Pathfinder Society scenarios online sometime. There's a place to look for players?

For some reason, Jared's link's URL is https://paizo.com/threads/pfschat.com, which is why it doesn't work.

It should be just pfschat.com, which directs you to the Org Play online's discrod channel.

Wow, a whole book that will possibly never be usable in PFS.

Wouldn't be the first time nor probably the last. Being passive-aggressive about it isn't likely to get the intended results.
