Recommendations for Champion Oath (lvl 2 Feat)

Pathfinder Second Edition General Discussion

Hi all,

Would you recommend an Oath for Age of Ashes? Looking at the level 2 Oaths (Dragonslayer, Fiendsbane, esoteric, Shining Oath). This would be for a Redeemer. Or would you not grab any of these for this particular AP?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I don't know anything about Age of Ashes, but I generally consider the Oaths to be not worth it. A somewhat minor upgrade to your reaction against a very limited number of foes simply seeme not worth it.

A few of of the follow-up feats are decent. But I'm still not convinced that's worth picking up the oath.

Well, considering the player's guide mentions that dragons are a recurring theme in the campaign, the Dragonslayer Oath probably wouldn't be too out of place.

Liberty's Edge

Thematically a Dragonslayer Redeemer might be awesome as long as you keep your tenets in the right order.

I suggest you to take a dedication instead.

Unfortunately, oaths have issues:

1) they are not so good. By lvl 2, especially with the load of new archetypes and feats, there are plenty of alternatives. Most of them better.

2) the oath improvement is a lvl 14 feat, and nobody would like to forgo divine reflexes for it.

3) not knowing what you are going to find, it is risky to blindly take an oath. Instead, I'd play it as any other flavoured stuff.

Make yours the oath edict without taking the feat. This is probably the best way to deal with them.

Agree on both parts. Taking a dedication would be best. Dual weapon archetype is very strong for a champion. Even with sword and board.
