The soundtrack to The Hunt For Red October has some great bits- I'm partial to Nuclear Scam, but the whole soundtrack has good stuff, as befits Basil Poledouris effort.
Likewise, Bear McCreary's Godzilla King of the Monsters soundtrack is awesome. Depending on your group, the Mothra and Godzilla themes might be too well-known to work, but the new Ghidorah Theme is a nice slow-burning piece of epic malice.
The soundtrack to HBO's take on Westworld has some nifty bits- often piano covers of well-known songs, but the original compositions have some goodies to offer.
Frog's Theme off of Chrono Trigger might be a bit more heroic than you want or too recognizable, but it's suitably epic, especially if you can find one of the orchestral versions.
Once Upon a Time in Mexico offers the short but impressive Sands' Theme
The Doctor Who Reboot gave us A Dazzling End, I Am The Doctor, The Cybermen, and All the Strange, Strange Creatures, to name a few personal favorites.

<nod> "Conan" had a far better soundtrack than it probably deserved. It seems like everything back then did. ("Conan", and similar B-movies such as "The Beastmaster" and "Krull", wouldn't even be remembered today without them.)
I was fortunate enough to see all of the early-80s orchestral-scored pictures in pre-multiplexed theaters. You cannot imagine what it felt like when two-dozen 18" analog cone-speakers in the walls began thundering the timpani opening salvo from "Anvil of Crom". You felt your spine vibrating. Then the french-horns kicked in a few seconds later, and turned you to jelly all over. Then the angelic string crescendo. -- Playing the DVD on a premium 7:1 home rig only gives you a taste of what it was like. Attending a Boston Pops retrospective seated in the auditorium's foci ...that might do it.

Sure, it has the choir bein' all patriotic n' stuff (so long as you don't mind Czechs butchering Russian), but the orchestral side of things was bland. Go to 11:48 time-stamp and listen for twenty seconds. ...C'mon, Basil; any sophomore composer can build suspense better than that. (You used to.)

Y'mean the part where he rips off Das Boot'sapproach? I still prefer it to the Conan soundtrack's brutally flogging the same two or three motifs over and over and over and over again as far as anything worth remembering goes, so YOU ARE ENTITLED TO BE WRONG, SIR! PISTOLS AT SUNRISE!
