Akashic Form

Rules Questions

When this spell activates, how quickly does the new form take place? The PRD says this.

If at any point within the duration of the spell you are reduced to fewer than 0 hit points or are slain by a death effect that is not mind-affecting, you can immediately let your current physical body die and assume the record of your physical body on your next turn.

Does "immediately" indicate that it is a swift action, and thus the caster can act normally for the rest of his/her round? In other words, the caster gets wacked by Mr. Fighter and sent into negative hit points, upon his round, Mr. Psychic, reappears and . . .

A: Twiddles his thumbs because his reappearance takes up his turn.
or
B: He takes a five foot step back and casts Telekinetic Storm, sending his enemies into oblivion.

I'm leaning towards option B.

I don't think it's an immediate action.

I don't think you even wait for your turn to re-appear, you re-appear immediately, without using any action at all. You have all your actions when your initiative comes up as normal, but you still have to stand around looking dumb (or naked) until then.

So if Mr. Fighty full-attacks the caster and kills him with his first strike, the caster had better use the option to appear naked somewhere within 500 feet that he's already been, because Mr. Fighty can use his remaining iterative attacks on the immediately re-appearing in the same spot caster.

You die.

You make a choice immediately when you die.

Your next turn you are back.

You can decide that coming back immediately is not smart and hope your crew can resurrect you, rather than putting yourself in a pain/death cycle, or reviving during a clearly hopeless situation.

Incredibly handy for fulfilling oaths that last "unto death."
