Advise needed on high lv 15 Evangelist Cleric + Evangelist (PrC)

Advice

Lantern Lodge

I'm finalizing the rebuild of my lv 15 (PFS) Character into a Evangelist Cleric. (Got the rebuild thanks to him having 14 levels of Lore Warden)
I'm planning to take up the Evangelist Prestige class, but I'm torn over if it's worth the 1 caster level deduction over being a pure cleric?

The main feature of the evangelist class is early access to a deity's Deific obedience boons. At lv 15,thats only 1 level away from the 2nd boon.

Had anyone played a high level cleric before? Is the Evangelist PrC worth it for high level play? Or is more spells better?

Character is a Dwarf Cleric of Milani. Focusing on casting and buffing

is the feat that let you add caster level to prestige class not PFS legal?

Woa! What the name of the feat?

I only know of the trait that ups your caster level by up to 2.
But that trait don't up your spells slots :(

Prestigious spellcaster, prereq favored prestige class. You need 2 feats free to get it.

What levels are you planning on playing with this character?

At level 15 an Evangelist Cleric gets access to 8th level spells, Inspire Heroics and swift action Bardic Performance, so if this is where you're finishing your character it's probably not the power-gaming option.

If you're playing to level 20 then you're not really losing much, just pushing things back a bit.

Also it depends on the boons a bit. Milani's 2nd boon is basically +1 to Inspire Courage for ine (long) combat per day. The 3rd boon will help in certain circumstances.

sorry, here are the links:
first you need favored prestige class feat.
then you need prestigious spellcaster the later can be taken multiple times one for each missing spellcaster level.

taking both feats would net you at level 15+:
+1 caster level (and spells slots etc).
+10 hp\skill ranks as per favored class bonus (can be mixed but can't take racial favored class bonus)
and +4 to a skill that is class skill to the prestige class, as long as you have 10 ranks in it (+2 if less. stack with skill focus but not other feats)

also note. taking a closer look it seams the first feat is pfs legal ,the 2nd isn't...

Prestigious Spellcaster is not PFS legal. For some deities the 3rd boon can be worth trading to get early, Milani’s booms don’t seem so strong.

I understand that we will be playing till lv 19.

The 2nd boon is what my party needs, more saves. I can get it now. Or at lv 16 if I'm a pure cleric.

@zza and avr,
Thanks for pointing out prestigious spell caster. Too bad it's not PFS legal.

Anyone with advice on high level cleric spells?

Prestigious Spell Caster doesn't work for Evangelist anyway. Read the description carefully: "The Prestigious Spellcaster feat does not have any effect if your favored prestige class does not have the spells per day class feature"

Evangelist does not have a class feature that gives you spells per day. Instead, it gives you the class features of an existing class.

I've read over the feat very carefully and it isn't as precise as you might think it is. Taken completely literally, it also wouldn't work with Dawnflower Anchorite since "spells per day" isn't listed as a class feature. Tattooed Mystic has the same problem. While its true that these classes don't list "spells per day" as a class feature, it's understood by context that these classes would be eligible choices for the Prestigious Spellcaster Feat. Evangelist is the same way, while it's not called out explicitly as gaining it, you can tell by context that it gains the "spells per day" class ability for all levels except level 1, making it eligible for the feat.

Seems strange to deny use of the feat just because paizo left out the obvious to save on printing costs.

Even if you could take it, 2 feats for 1 spell level? Not really worth it since it would be better to just stay in the class and get the benefits of the prestige class in a level.

Honestly if the boons are coming to you anyways and all you want is the second boon... just stay cleric. You're so high in level it's not practical to worry about.

Something else worth noting. for the cost of just 1 feat you could grab Diverse Obedience which will allow you to get the 2nd boon and stay pure cleric.

Evangelist isn't really a class you level dip into. At 15th level you should not only have the 3rd boon but the spirit form as well. Otherwise you're just taking a level hit to spell casting to get something early.

Um, both of those classes have, in the table under Class Features, a column named "Spells per Day". So that is why it is understood by context that the feat applies to them. Because it literally applies to them.

Evangelist does not directly grant spells per day so the feat does not apply. Whether this is RAI is up for debate, but by RAW it is not.
