Ah I love it when people come in thinking we should be the same price as the motel 6 down the street.

One of my favorites is when they come in and say "How much? I stayed at one of these in Bumf@&~, Iowa two nights ago for half that!" Like pricing is national. Or doesn't change whenever the manager feels like it. Or if I feel like it.

Emphasis on "if I feel like it". I do find it amusing that they think just because they payed one price one year the price the next year on a different day while mind you we have a massive event going on it's going to be the same for some reason.

That too. "I was here three years ago and the price wasn't anywhere near that high!" Well, tough s++$.

I generally don't change the price very often. It's my way of saying I don't haggle. One of the few times I'll adjust the price is if I just really don't want to sell the room for some reason (usually because the person reeks of cigarettes/weed/alcohol/etc...) so I raise the price to try and get them to go somewhere else. If it works, great. If not, well, at least they had to pay more.

One nice thing I've noticed about hitting them with a higher rate first thing is when they ask for any discounts and then try to haggle if they have a good point (or more likely have a actual discount we take) then I've only dropped it down to our normal price.

Just cleared Ascension 19 with Ironclad.

Still 15/15/20/18 for me. Haven't gotten anywhere in awhile. also haven't been playing it as much.

I just use Priceline/Orbitz/Travelocity/etc. I mean, seriously. People just...show up? Like it were 1983 or something?

Right? like all the time too.

And back to work.

Well I see more people wearing their masks that is a plus.

A better plus would be seeing fewer people.

You are not wrong.

Got 3 days off last week. so that was nice. Got to get a recording for my youtube channel up. still got pretty close to my 40 hours too with how late management has been coming in.

I know I've found a kindred spirit when I give someone a minimal greeting and they give me the same and we both are satisfied giving the bare minimum and not only don't want anything further but hope with all our beings that it is the end of the conversation.

Ugh coworker saying her paycheck wasn't correct worries me now I have to meticulously inspect mine to make sure they didn't miss some of my overtime that resulted from them coming in late...

I feel like I've been using this to gripe a lot lately but...
2 way stop if you don't have a stop sign you don't have to stop or even slow down. how do these people get licenses?

Are you saying that someone stopped when they didn't have a stop sign? Because that's the opposite of what I usually see happen.

To be fair to them, they might not have known the area and were looking for a street sign to see if that was where they wanted to turn. Some people don't use GPS, and sometimes GPS just doesn't work.

I suppose that is possible, but yes they stopped when they didn't have to and waited a moment to see if me or the guy on the other side was going to go.

Anyone around ever read Eric or Melnibone? it's the series the blue oyster cult song: Black Blade was based on. I've been thinking about giving it a try.

Nope.

Make sure to give yourself a read of Elric - it's grand, grand stuff, and the stories are nice and short and snappy, so no Wheel Of Time-style doorstops.

Elric is a bit of a whiny nob, but you don't need to pay any attention to that to enjoy the tales.

The Corum and Hawkmoon books (by the same author, Michael Moorcock) are also well worth your time.

Thanks Limey.

Watched the first episode of Lovecraft County. If the rest is as good as that episode I highly recomend

Had a guy walk in a little while ago, looking for room. We have lots, and our rate is really low tonight. But, he parked in a handicap spot to come in and talk to me, when he clearly wasn't (yes, there could have been someone in the car who was, but since he moved the car eventually and didn't ask for a handicap room, I doubt it), and he wasn't wearing a mask. So I quoted a rate $20 higher than what is in the system, hoping he would leave. He didn't. But, he did pay the higher rate, so I guess that's something.

It always makes me feel a little better. at least he's out 20 bucks. It's like the A-hole charge.

We're supposed to be opening our pool and exercise room again soon. I have mixed feelings about that. Bad, because there is no reason for those to be open during a pandemic, especially the pool. Good, because it means that they're bringing back the maintenance guy. Maybe he'll be able to get stuff running properly again. Eventually.

I wish we could get things running correctly... and we have a maintenance guy...

I know the feeling, we've had a couple of less-than-good maintenance guys in the past. Luckily, we don't have anything too major to fix. Just a lot of little stuff that all adds up.

all of our side doors and back door are all on thier last legs or already broke... soon their will be no escape.

No escape for you, or for them?

We've got one PTAC that's completely broke, one that sometimes works, and a couple that are noisy. Probably just need new belts. A couple of squeaky doors that need some oil, which we could do ourselves, but f@!% it. And then pool needs to be brought back to usable. We haven't messed with the chemicals since shut down, but he can probably get that all good in a couple of days, maybe a week.

{reads from tomb clutched in the skeletal remains of a maintenance man:}

"They have taken the front desk… and the dining hall.
We have barred the broken doors… but cannot hold them for long. The ground shakes.
Phone calls… phone calls… even in my nightmares.
We cannot get out. Shadows not wearing their required masks move in the dark.
We cannot get out…
They are coming!" -- Vidmaster7, last entry to Book of Mazarbul
