So... if I read this scenario right the only boon you will ever see is the reward boon for completing the scenario?

You never explore the locations so you never see and encounter the boons. In so far as I can tell from my reading of the scenario you could simply determine how many boons each location has and put all weapons or spells or what ever because what they are doesn't matter. They're just a countdown clock to determine if you lose.

IIRC playing this type of scenario in MM got you a reward of rebuilding with what was left in the locations if you won? Been a few years so I could be wrong but I think there was some sort of boon reward.

So far as I can tell this is the only scenario of the random scenarios where you do not get a chance to acquire any of the boons. Is that intentional?


Bumping this since my group randomly picked "Surviving the Siege" last night, and wow, yeah, if this is true then any time we roll the Siege up again, we're just going to reroll it. We don't have to bother saving anything but one card left in one location, and there's no incentive to do better than that? This feels wrong.


Yeah, it's a design oversight, as far as I can tell.

It hasn't impacted me, because I've only ever used 3C as the final Dragon's Demand scenario so that a character can complete the Adventure Path before getting retired, but for anyone using it as the "random scenarios" for catchup purposes or just for homebrew fun then it sucks that you effectively get no new boons for playing this particular random scenario.


Well if I remeber well, when you only have one bane left in the Siege deck and a lot of turns remaining on the hourglass, you can explore your location for loots...

Sorry, that's an oversight, and we'll get it addressed. The generic reward for all doesn't quite work in this instance.

For now, I'd encourage you to add the siege "The party gets all boons remaining in locations." and I'll encourage Vic to FAQ in a way that does the same. Perhaps change "To win, empty the siege pile." to "To win, empty the siege pile. If you do, the party acquires all cards remaining in locations."

From memory; you can't do that with how 3C's Siege Scenario is worded. There's some subtle wording changes from Mummy's Mask "Defensive Stance" scenarios to the new post-Core ones.


Yep I guess that's where the issue is, hence the FAQ needed.
