Oi vay,
Spent the last two days driving back and forth from South Lousy-Anna to Huntsville, Al, because the daughter finally found a way to return to Space Camp.
She got them to hire her for the summer. :)
So we drove her up there (mom and daughter in the daughter-mobile, and me following the mom mobile, because HER CD player works, mine don't) Through torrential downpours and flash flooding on Saturday, because her check in day was Sunday. And for once daughter refused to be late! ;P
The lousy weather added at least 2+1/2 hours to the drive. -_-
Fortunately the drive back was MUCH better. Still 8+ hours, but MUCH better because only a little rain.
AND back to work today! Because, clearly I am FAR too indispensable, (read overworked, underpaid and understaffed!) to take a day off!
i think my next day off is the First.
Of July.
O_o

I saw Metallica on the "Black Album" tour. The only complaint I had was that it was in a venue called the Memphis Pyramid. The acoustics were pure rot.
My son saw them this spring in Little Rock. He said everything was clear as a bell.
As far as seeing bands again I'd like to see Styx one more time. I saw them on the "Kilroy" tour in the spring of 1983. Great music but the attempt at a rock opera was kinda sad. Dennis DeYoung is no longer with the band which is kinda sad but I'd still like to see them again. And Nazareth. I saw them in 1983 or 1984 and while it wasn't a flashy show in any way I have always been a fan and I thoroughly enjoyed their set. OH, and Heart. I love Heart.

Styx - Saw them a few years ago (10ish?) In Chicago. They are better without DeYoung.
Heart - Saw them at the same concert. They were fantastic. If you haven't yet, make sure to catch the YouTube clip of Heart playing Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center. Jason Bonham on drums with Plant, Page, and Jones watching from the balcony.

I really want to see Magma. They came to Manchester in... 2017? But I didn't find out until a fortnight afterwards. Grrr...
Missed Black Sabbath's final tour, which I'm kicking myself about.
Pharoah Sanders is the only remaining big name I want to see. He's pretty old, but touch wood, will be around for a while longer, since agèd jazzers are notoriously tough...

Woo! July! Party on Rags' day off!
You betcha! On My ONE day off! :)
provided of course, that I actually have the energy left to do anything at that point. ;P
Actually, mostly joking/semi-serious, what usually tends to happen is that I get through all but the last 3 days of busy May and June,(Again, when my last day off was probably a very eventful Easter Sunday) and with only 3 days left to go, my body decides it's time to get sick.
It usually goes something like this,...
Body: "OK now Rags, its time for a cold. Maybe a flu, but definitely a cold. Your gonna take a lil' rest now, OK? You've earned it!"
Rags: "No. Not now, I still have 3 long days left of shows, then I can take a break."
Body: "I dont think you heard me the first time. Your going to be sick NOW. OK? Off to bed with you. There's a good boy."
Rags: "You dont understand, I CAN'T be sick! There's NO ONE ELSE to do my job! If I don't go to work the shows DON'T HAPPEN!"
Body: "That's nice dear. Enjoy your bed rest!"
Rags: <Living the next 3 days on NyQuil, at work.> ;P

I have seen it. And when Robert Plant began to shed a tear during it I almost did the same. Spotify has premade lists for artists called "This is (insert artist here). This version is included in that playlist.
I have to disagree on Styx. All through high school Styx was my favorite band. I have every record, including "Kilroy" and the live one following it. While DeYoung began trying to take them in a prog direction (which they were trying to do but better at in their first four LPs) they began to go downhill, IMO. I don't own any of their later albums after the live one because they broke up for a while and when they regrouped I liked them but just never bought the releases.

It would be a long list for me and I wouldn't remember all of them, I'm sure. In the early to mid-80s I saw a really large number of artists. It slowed down drastically after my son was born in 1993, but I've begun getting around to seeing some more. I'm going see Judas Priest in 2 weeks and Iron Maiden in August (saw them 2 years ago at the same venue). Mostly what I see now are "legacy" artists - those that have been around for a long time and are still touring and doing well at it.
EDIT: I've been thinking about it and I'd say I've seen between 40 and 50 different artists in concert over the years.

After nearly 30 years of holding the song "Piper at The Gates of Dawn" by Pink Floyd in my head, I have suddenly come up with an adventure based on the title. It's a simple adventure with nothing grand going on but my players will enjoy it as a break from more "serious" things going on.
The Piper is in love with the "Singer at The Gates of Dusk". Just like the sunrise and sunset they can never be in the same place together their love goes unrequited. The players have to travel to a distant location but they have a map with a shortcut through a pass where the Piper stands guard. In order to pass through, they must take a gift of some sort (haven't yet figured out what) to the Singer. Throw in some encounters going back and forth and voila', a simple but fun adventure.
I can't believe it's taken me so long to come up with something based on that bloody song title.

DeYoung's live performances always made me think of a Vegas lounge act. That reason alone makes the new guy better.

LOL...I do see your point. Without him, the band has made a turn back to their rock roots with more energetic stage shows. I saw a DVD of them playing with the Cincinnati Youth Orchestra from about 2006 or 2008. They CYO are all high school kids who come from all walks of life and make up an incredible orchestra. Styx combined with those really talented kids made a terrific combination. If you get a chance to stream it or something I think you'll enjoy it.
I have a recording I made in 1983 from a radio station that is "Crystal Ball" with Tommy Shaw singing the original lyrics he'd written before recording the song with the band. It's really good. "Crystal Ball" was also the first rock LP I ever bought.

I recommend going backward from "Pieces of Eight" to their first one. It's hard to find their first four as that label, Wooden Nickel, has held onto the rights to them since the 70s. I have a two CD collection of all four, plus the vinyl versions. They're not hard rock as a whole, with some pop oriented things (well, pop for the time, which was still more rock than most of today's).

I certainly have not seen NEARLY that many bands!
only went to two concerts as an audience member,
Petra and Carmen (both Christian-rock-ish)
But shows I have worked? (and may or may NOT have been allowed to watch the show?)
KISS,
Lallapalooza 96,
White Snake (I think? they had another band as an opener?)
Huey Lewis and the news,
There were a couple of others, but those are the ones that I actually REMEMBER.
(Which is sadly, an accomplishment lately)

So, computer woes again. I think. Maybe? I don't know. I received a new HDD today to replace the one I had that was going bad. Trouble is the new one makes these constant but irregularly timed "thumps" I can feel through the wood of my desk. But aside from that, it's working like a champ. Not sure where to go from here. I emailed the company that held the warranty on it but it expired Sunday. I barely got in under the wire on Thursday when I told them about the now dead HDD. I did get the extended warranty with Amazon so I guess we'll see if they'll live up to their agreement on maintenance and such. sigh...

So far, so good. I have a couple of friends who work in IT tell me that it's really up to me. They'd both trust it until something wonky happened (which of course anyone would do, I guess). So not a great deal of help. I fell asleep today before reading the Amazon warranty stuff and I have to get up early tomorrow to see the surgeon who operated on my knee. It started out feeling great but one week later I'm back to where I was pain-wise.
Sorry. In a grumpy mood. Someone do something silly and cheer me up.

CONFESSION: When I was a kid, I knew a couple grown-up body-builder guys who used steroids. And I liked comic books. So even though I have all the education to know better, my first thought when I hear 'steroids' is STILL that they're some kind of Hulk-making serum.
And I'm always faintly disappointed when they fail to grant people enormous green muscles. Sigh.
