The only instance of sleep paralysis I can ever recall having was when I was about ten years old. Right before I managed to regain control of my limbs and voice again I heard, very distinctly, "Test sequence ended. Return subject to its original holding area." That was over 45 years ago and it STILL freaks me out.
So...Black Mesa...you're telling me that Half-Life is based on a real story and you are the basis for Gordon? No wonder you deal with chronic pain.

Can I add some suggestions?
Or everyone puts a name in the hat, everyone draws a name out of the hat, and that name is your assigned victim. Like a murder-y Secret Santa. Or a remake of Throw Momma From the Train.

May you have all the Psychic Warrior skills you desire and more.
My other half has had both doses, as she works for our National Health Service; I have had neither, but I have had the Disease, which ought to count for something.
How did you know I love the Psychic Warrior class?? It's probably my favorite from the Dreamscarred Press version of psionics!
I don't think I remember you mentioning having The Pestilence. I'm very glad you came out alright! Are you having any of the long term side effects?

Every flu shot I had in the last years of my Army career caused me to vomit. No idea if it was an allergy or a mental thing. But thankfully I did not paint the inside of my truck with last nights salad.
I think I speak for all of us here that we're happy you made it past that stumbling block. Good on ya!!

I got my first dose of the COVID vaccine today. It's the vaccination sensation that's sweeping the nation! Mutant powers here I come!
I didn't have any of the side effects that some people have the next day or so after the first shot except for last night when I ached from the roots of my hair to the soles of my feet. Today I feel just fine. Some people have told me the side effects from the second shot are much worse, so I guess I'll find out in three weeks.

Mrgh. Sorry I missed this until now. Belated well wishes that you are recovering or at least not too bleh.

Thanks! I'm doing fine. Just icky body aches the first evening after the injection but all gone by the next day.
Today is also a very good day to have a lack of bleh. I think I might have mentioned that my GF of eight years seems to be ghosting me since October, which is the last time I saw her. She almost never texts me anymore or responds to mine and I've only actually spoken to her over the phone once since then, and that was the day after Rosie died. And I'm surprisingly OK with it. My only real complaint is if she is really wanting to end things I wish she would tell me, but I can't get her to answer my questions regarding our status.
So yesterday on FB, a friend of a friend just popped up and told me she'd had a crush on me for months even though we've never met in real life. Then she said a friend of HERS had a crush on me, as well, and asked if it would alright for her to send me a friend request. I was flattered, flustered, and embarrassed but I said sure. So I spent over five hours last night chatting two new people who both said it doesn't matter to them if things with my GF are still ongoing or not nor do they mind that I'm chatting with both of them at the same time.
So last night and today have been good in odd ways...LOL. I kinda dig it. Now if my son and his GF would GTFO and back into a place of their own STAT things would be groovy again and I could resume gaming, not being on Red Alert with my anxiety disorders every waking moment, and maybe getting to know two new people in my own space (I don't want ANYONE to see this place now. I'm not a good housekeeper at the best of times but with all of their crap it's awful and I refuse to allow guests over). And one of the women has always wanted to learn to play D&D, but if she's willing to learn Pathfinder 1e then I'm even ok with letting a new person into our merry band.
Today has been a good day.

Great. Now I need to come up with constellations for my world...LOL. One of my group plays a Diviner and this would actually be the perfect thing for a story arc around him.

So we moved this past week (after 17 years). The new place is awesome. And of course, Monkey Santa’s already picked out the choicest spot for one of his hobbies.

That window looks like it is right out of The Amonketyville Horror.

An idiot friend of my mom’s said it would be okay for a 7 year old me to watch Amityville. To this day I won’t set foot in a Dutch colonial. Nuuuup.
I have family in Amityville NY, and have driven past the "Amityville Horror House" many times. Dutch colonials are really, really common in the area: My in-laws live in one that was built in 1925. Dutch colonials are becoming less common there: property values are absurdly high on Long Island, and when people buy a house now, they very often knock it down and build a "McMansion" on the lot.
The actual Amityville Horror House was renovated extensively in the early '90s and looks almost nothing like it did in the '70s. Those iconic "eyebrow windows" are long gone!
The real-life "Amityville Horror House" killer died in prison last month. The New York Post ran an article about what the house is like today.

I flagged a Facebook video of someone flagellating himself with a machete (graphic and bloody) and a full-nude beaver shot of a Hollywood star and was told neither violated community standards.
*shrug*
Yes. Just yesterday someone posted two photos of women holding coat hangers by hanging them on their nipples. They're still there. But my response to someone else's post saying "Christians? Ha!" was too much. I'm pretty certain someone I've upset or offended on FB is flagging me in some sort of petty passive-aggressive revenge thing.

MAGIC ITEM IDEA:
This hollow wooden cylinder is most often crafted by elven seers. In the way of their kind, they use the wood of a single species of tree--the same tree that gives them their famed longbows. When one peers through this flute, one receives visions of myriad scenes, encompassing all experience, from training in the arts and crafts of all peoples, to news of faraway lands, to the maddest ravings of wild hermit lunatics...
Truly, one can see anything with the Yew Tube.

This is an actual magic item write-up in the RPG Dungeon World:
Ned’s Head 1 weight
An old skull, missing its jaw and very much worse-for-wear. The skull remembers the folly of its former owner—a man with more honor than sense. Once per night, the owner of the skull can ask “Who has it in for me?” and the skull will give up one name in a sad, lonely voice. If the owner of the skull is ever killed, it disappears surreptitiously. No one knows where it might turn up next.

...Truly, one can see anything with the Yew Tube.
Sidebar: Yew tubes have a 50% chance of being cursed, with bearers unable to willingly part with them. Such cursed characters are treated as fatigued from having 6 or less hours of sleep (AP#44) as they become addicted to frequent use of the yew tube. The GM may also require random rolls for such cursed characters (same DC as the fatigue check) for the affected character to resist annoying nearby individuals with inane chatter about yew tube visions and working particularly bad puns into conversations.

You made a new Facebook account Cal?
Yes. The one I've had since Facebook was still in diapers is going to be (at least) temporarily disabled. I'm in FB jail there for another 24 days and I suspect it's because I've hurt the feelings of some member of a certain cult and they're flagging my posts in some sort of passive-aggressive act of "revenge". It's been going on for a while and it will eventually result in the deletion of that page. I'm also pretty sure I know who it is, too, and it really makes me sad. But anyway, yes, the friend invite from Calvin N. Roach is the real deal. And if anyone else here wants to send me a friend request to the new page they're more than welcome to do so. I'm going to *try* to be less political on the new one. There are no guarantees, however. And thanks for checking with me about it. I've been getting messages almost nonstop about friends reporting my page has been hacked to FB Central without confirming it with me first. I appreciate their willingness to "help" but they should also let me take care of things myself. I could get the new page taken down before I even really get started because of these hacking reports.
I've also started a blog. For a very long time, my friends have been dogging my tracks to write something. I've wanted to do that since I was fifteen years old, but whenever I sat down to write I would immediately be hit by really bad panic attacks. I figure a blog would be easier to get started and I'll see where it goes from there. If anyone wants to go and throw dirt clods at it it's www.true-defective.com. There is only one entry so far as I'm still learning how to work all the things Wordpress offers for bloggers.
