What happens to Rovagug worshippers when they die?

Usually petitioners go to be with their god after death, however, Rovagug is currently trapped in a demiplane at the center of the planet so what happens to them? I would guess they appear in the demiplane with him, he eats them, and gets a little more powerful and a little closer to breaking free...

Planar Adventures confirms that the demiplane in question does have associated petitioners. If the setup is well-designed, there would be some way of releasing Rov's power in a controlled manner so it doesn't build up to be unstoppable. We know that there are monsters that exit the demiplane occasionally (Rov's Spawn and the Wrackworms also from Planar Adventures), but whether that means the seal is working as intended or beginning to fail is up for debate.

Does he even have any petitioners?

Surely worshiping the god of destruction is a one way ticket to the belly of the beast!

I wonder if entering his belly just means getting pooped out later as part of his spawn?

Considering his explicit goal is to destroy everything, I doubt his followers have any problem with being eaten or otherwise destroyed.

^ . . . especially if they have reason to believe that they are going to get pooped out in some form that lets them reseed wherever that is, since last time I checked, he doesn't actually want to destroy everything(*), just the mortal realms and anything else that opposes or has ever opposed him.

(*)That's supposedly what the Daemons want to do.

It means they failed at the ONE thing I ask them to do, so f$@& them, I don't give a shit what happens to them.

Um, I don't get it.

I would imagine they dwell inside Rovagug's prison, fighting and murdering for eternity, unless they're all consumed by the Rough Beast.

Um, I don't get it.

They were supposed to free him.

They failed.

They literally had one job. One job.

It's eternity of being maggots in the Abyss for them as punishment for their abject failure. Only the one who would actually contribute to Rovie's release could be granted the honour of standing by his side as he eats the universe.

Enthusiastically holds out a writhing mass of tentacles, eyes, mouths, tufts of fur, and countless limbs.

Aw, it likes you! Just don't feed it after midnight.

They don't go to Heaven where the angels fly
They go to a lake of fire and fry
Don't see them again till the Fourth of July

According to Inner Sea Gods Pharasma may detest certain gods, but remain completely neutral as to where they go. They all go where they are supposed to.

So. Yeah. Gotta go somewhere. Everyone does.

According to Planar Adventures his petitioners are sent to the Dead Vault. That way their souls can eventually merge with the plane and strengthen his prison.

Futilely tries to piece cultists back together.

Geez not only did they fail the job, they actively make it worse.

Grats!

Which makes no sense. Why would Rovagug want people to worship him if it makes it harder for him to escape?

He doesn't want people to worship him, they just do anyway.

Then why does he give them spells and the like?

In the hope that the next leap will be the final leap home.

Does he? Groetus articles suggest he’s not aware of and doesn’t care about his worshippers, but they can get divine magic despite that. It may be that being a god means people of the appropriate mindset and devotion can channel your power without your approval or help.

Yeah, it's non consensual spell giving! I'm the victim here!! So, why don't you just pop open the cage and I can kill all humans we can go to the beach and play with kittens!

I think my idea makes a hell of a lot more sense. Course when I'm the DM I can just change it.
