Arcane Evolution (Sorcerer) - Oversight?

I believe the feat should state that the scroll you use to add a spell to your repetoire for the day should be of a spell from the Arcane list.

Shhhhh, we don't want them to know!

In all seriousness though, I'm guessing this will be errata'ed.
If not, I'm certainly going to carry around a lot of scrolls with my Sorcerer. :o

I had assumed so much it was an arcane spell only, that I didn't even notice it doesn't actually say it. HOwever it's safe to assume it's the intent.

But if your just playtesting the kinks atm and going full RAW, might as well have some fun.

I am having trouble with this as well; it seems like the scroll can be from any spell list.

That is how I have been running it. I expect them to change it at some point.

Had a thought:

Say an (arcan) sorcerer is allowed to select a scroll of Heal as their bonus spell that day.

And they have a wand of Heal.

Does the wand function or does the sorc need Trick Magic Item?

Spell list is distinct from spell repertoire

Hmm, interesting. I do think its meant to be just for Arcane Scrolls{something they will most likely errata, as it would be extremally powerful for a Level 4 feat, and would make Arcane bloodlines for sorcerer the default pick. It could even make some cheese with multiclassing, if built right.).

The main thing is the scroll just needs to be in your possession in order for the feat to work. Other then that, at least by reading of the feat, you don't need to interact with the scroll in any other way, including having the scroll be of a spell your spellcasting tradition can cast. {possibly not even having to know what the scroll is at the time of using the feat, although if this were the case, it would still be recommended to know what you are actually adding, and if you have high enough spell slots to actually use it.)

If I were running a home game outside of the playtest, I would rule just arcane spells, and I expect it to be the actual case before to long, but {unless I have missed something important} yeah it could be used for any spell.

One other thing you could also do is to choose your spell for spontaneus heighten as well. Could be useful for something like Heal.

Noted, thanks!

Does this mean you plan to change it or just that you will be looking at it? Given it is a single spell allowing it to grab an off list spell seems hardly game breaking.

Indeed. However, based on the fact that the feat is "Arcane Evolution" I wouldn't expect it to be for non-arcane spells.

Oh aye. My chapter 4 sorcerer did this. Or had the intent to do this. Forgot to include the spell on the spell list and select it for heightening, but I *did* buy the scroll!
