Sometimes I think my coworker is trying to test my ingenuity.
"sweep the driveway" all we have is a broken half a broom, without a handle (remind self to put new broom in trailer on Monday).
"cut this fabric out, I got a new knife!" but no screwdriver to open the new knife to arm the blade (I'm using a shovel.
"dig a trench, or two" yeah, it's Friday, I'm not doing that.

So what's going on this weekend, everyone? Some friends and I are having a bad movie night, featuring "Vampire Hookers" starring John Carradine. Gaming will resume next week.
The Neverwinter Nights (1) server that I and some of my players are part of is implementing a very large, very anticipated update tonight. Part of this update requires almost all characters be either remade from scratch or leveled down to 1 then back up again, to implement several of the changes.
As the three of us are all staff members, we plan to spend a decent chunk of the weekend hanging out GMside on the server helping people with their rebuilds or relevels.
Also PnP group will be a break from that as we near the end of chapter one of Iron Gods tomorrow. Hopefully we'll get to the end of this investigation and the chapter and be ready to move into chapter two before the end of the month.

Had a nice relaxing Saturday off work and spent this afternoon (finally) getting to play Wounded Wisp with my local Pathfinder Society Lodge! We had a good time and even had a new guy come to play who also seemed to have a good time; we gave him a bunch of links to relevant websites such as this one, Archives of Nethys, and our Warhorn page as well as an invite to our lodge's Facebook chat. Here's hoping we don't scare him away :)

Couple of things coming up, one of which is gaming-related...
While my regular weekly Thursday RPG group is currently switching off three campaigns (a "Weird West" game using Fate Core, a "hard sci-fi" game also using Fate Core, and a fantasy sandbox using Dungeon World), I am really itching to try out the Pathfinder Playtest.
It turns out that another of my local gamer friends (who's NOT in my current regular group) just invited me into his group. They are currently playing a conversion of Curse of Strahd into Castles & Crusades... and they're planning to switch to the PF2e Playtest of Doomsday Dawn come August!
And it turns out that, despite my somewhat crowded schedule, I should be able to play on Wednesday nights, too!
Man... I haven't been in two gaming groups at the same time since the Bush-1 Administration!
And the other thing...
The 50th anniversary of The Beatles' psychedellic masterpiece Yellow Submarine is this summer, and they are sending out the film for a limited run in select theaters... and my local arthouse theater is showing it this week!

Wow! Suddenly you have your hands full!
Ain't that the truth!
And here on the boards...
I re-started my Rise of the Runelords campaign, after having to put it on hiatus for several months due to time constraints.
I started up a new Dungeon World campaign... although we're still figuring out the characters and background, and I'm not posting nearly as quickly as I thought I could.
I joined my first PFS PbP... and while I can usually keep up with one post a day, they're going three or four per day!
And I'm still a player in three other PbPs (Shattered Star, Carrion Crown, and Legendary Planet).

Well to be fair, there's 7 players plus me as GM so even if everyone strictly did one post a day that'd still be 8 new posts a day :)
Once we finish our introductory scenario I'll probably solicit feedback about the game speed and go from there!

Getting the jump on everyone's weekend plans as I'll be pretty busy tomorrow and the rest of the weekend. So who's doing what this weekend? Tomorrow my GF is coming down for the weekend so tomorrow night it's going to try out the new German/Modern European fusion place in town (about which I've heard only great things), then Saturday finally getting to finish the 3rd adventure in the current story arc. As usual I've had a month to work on it and I'm doing it all tonight. Procrastination eventually rules!
So tell us all about your weekend plans!

Any and all plans thrown out the window. "Aiymi has been sick since Thursday" written at 11:30am Central time on Monday has since turned into two emergency room visits and being admitted to the hospital tonight with an ailment they haven't been able to diagnose yet.
Ugh, hope that is resolved soon!

Going to a wedding on Friday despite my better judgment.
Saturday hanging out with Selene Spires for a bit (with child in tow :-)) then heading to the movies with my child - Hotel Transylvania 3 in 3D.
Sunday probably going to the park with my dog and my daughter.
I am also going to try and keep up with my PbP load now that I think I've caught up on sleep 7 as a DM and 14 as a PC - busy busy but much less busy than I used to be here on the boards when I was running 30 and playing in 35 :-)
NO table top again till September, I always take summers off now to recharge the batteries.

Dwarf Fortress didn't happen, instead ran a dungeon in NWN with 3/4 of my PnP group.
Iron Gods is nearing wrapping up the first chapter, I think. We're back into exploring the ruins and have a lead on the lady that appears to be behind all the chapter one trouble. We should be able to finish the chapter next week, which gives us two or three weeks to get into chapter 2 before we go back on hiatus and I resume Savage Tide.

This weekend...
Fri night: Hosted a dinner party for some old college friends who were in town.
Sat: Morning: ran in a local 5K.
Afternoon: trimmed hedges, weeded the heb garden, laundry, nap.
Evening: went to an outdoor performance of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew.
Sun: Morning: Church, where I got pressed into ushering.
Afternoon: More laundry, weeding the flower bed, mowing the lawn.
Evening: Dinner at a local vegetable farm, prepped by several local professional chefs, where proceeds go to local hunger relief organizations.

Aiymi was released from the hospital on Friday. She's recovering. I explained what happened on FAWTL, but I'll repeat it here rather than make you go searching.
First, she developed a sinus infection with a cough and drainage induced nausea. On Monday last week she tore a rib muscle from the coughing.
She had high blood pressure, got it back under control, was taken off the BP medication, then got a new high stress job. The BP built back up over a few months. Add in the sinus/chest/cough gunk, and her blood pressure went ballistic.
High blood pressure - seriously high blood pressure - can cause mental confusion. It can also cause strokes and TIAs. She had a TIA, which is basically a mini stroke.
It's going to take a while for her to build herself back up, and she may not ever get back to where she was.

Man sorry to hear that but at least she is on the mend now and not getting worse.

So what's happening this weekend? This is our weekend off for gaming, which is fine. I have a real barn burner of a headache and it hasn't let up in days. I don't think I'd be much fun as a GM or player this weekend. I hope it lets up enough so I can at least read through "The Planar Handbook" and "Cthulhu Mythos".
So what are YOU doin'?
| DungeonmasterCal |
So what's happening folks? Tonight I have 8 players in person and one by Skype. I'm recovering from some heinous stomach virus so it should be a challenge to pull it off. I would have cancelled but one of my players actually planned part of her vacation around the game so I feel I should go ahead and try to run it.
So what are YOU doing?

We had to cancel our game yesterday due to half the group being absent - one guy was at a LARP meetup, the other a work obligation I think. So I and the GM chatted and played some NWN and I burned the evening in Dwarf Fortress, while the other remaining player and her family went to see Ant-Man and The Wasp, which is on my list of "things I have not yet seen and need to" (a list that also includes The LEGO Movie, Star Wars: Rogue One, and Fantastic Beasts.)
