But you said nothing about not throwing stoats! BWAHAAAHHHAAAAA!!
The stoats might have something to say about it...
We just killed a black dragon in our Pathfinder game. My Paladin now has a +5 Cold Iron Vorpal bastard sword, and our GM does not give things like that out as if they were sweeties.

DungeonmasterCal wrote:So, what are you fine folks doing this weekend?I went camping!
My son is going to Junior High next year, and some families coordinated a group camping trip about an hour north of the city. It was pretty popular since it's the last time we can do this while the kids are still together in elementary school. I think there were nearly 20 families camping Friday and Saturday night (including us), and then I believe the number reached 41 families by just Saturday night.
This is the third time my son's grade has done this, and it's a blast every time. The kids can just run around wherever with minimal supervision (with a few planned events like a scavenger hunt, a tug of war competition, and a movie night using a projector and screen), and parents can just hang out together and chill. It stormed Saturday night, though, and I discovered an exciting new leak in our tent!
Sounds like a terrific time!

NWN finale for Bearquest on Sunday. Tracking down and dealing with a Shemhazian demon!
The demon has been vanquished, at last. That quest is set and wrapped up.
Next Sunday is the finale of the Dreamlands quest I've been running as well. Feels good getting all these plots wrapped up. Just in time to get started on the much bigger server plot....

Busy busy busy.
My work has given me Astros (the local baseball team) tickets for my entire family for tonight. My daughter's birthday party is at the park on Saturday. Sunday is Mother's Day, so I'm making brunch for my wife and my mom (and my sister and my kids) on Sunday.
And summer is unofficially here in Houston. It's going to be in the 90s all week, with high humidity, to boot.

DungeonmasterCal wrote:It's Friday and so forth. Who's doing what this weekend?Anything going on for you?
Not really. Our next game night won't be until the 21st (that was the first night the most of us could be available). I'm holding off watching the season finale of "Picard" until Sunday when my ex-wife (we're really the best of friends. Just made better friends than spouses) can be free to watch it, as well as our son, his gf, and myself taking her out to dinner.
We're looking at the same forecast next week here, as well. I get very irritable and prone to outright anger when I get too hot, and it looks like I'll be grumpy all next week.

What is Magimon?
It is part of my homebrew setting. A world that combines pokemon with swords&sorcery. Humans from earth, or at least an Earth-like world, suddenly found themselves waking up on a new world that seems like all life on it had simply been transplanted there all at once, including many unfamiliar lifeforms, and some of those new lifeforms can use magic. Magic is also slowly seeping into humans as well.
It started from me trying to make explanations for many oddities of pokemon, like the standardized 6-mon team size, pokemart, centers, and gyms, etc. Then I set it as a world in my super-setting.

I love that! Right after Hasbro bought WotC and the rights to make Pokemon cards they introduced a Pokemon RPG. It was a smallish paperback that contained the first episode of the cartoon in adventure form. It used two d6, I think (it was a long time ago so the details are hazy). My son and I played it two or three times but they never produced anymore adventures, or at least not to my knowledge.

Looks like we're gonna get to play tomorrow, and all three of the guys from Memphis are going to make the drive over. For a long time it was just two because the son of one of the guys began playing in a group there. But he's coming over with his dad and the other guy so I'll have a full group- -seven players. I'm going to spend much of today beefing up encounters and such in the game I'd already had planned out.
How about everyone else?

I'm driving my dad and his brother and two sisters around southern Wisconsin. Should be hilarious because they're all original hippies so it'll be a whole bunch of stories without an end and tons of 3 Dog Night and The Grateful Dead.
Should be fun! (I mean that genuinely, I love my dad, uncle and aunts).

That sounds awesome!! I'm kinda jealous!!

The game went well, although the guys from Memphis had car trouble and had to turn around. We were all looking forward to seeing them, especially Eddie, now that he's recovered from his most recent stroke. He was really disappointed, too. He got a little choked up when he called to let me know what was up.
We cut the game short because bad weather was moving in and two of my bunch, (a dad and his teenage daughter) had a thirty-minute drive to get back to their place and I didn't want them driving into the storm front. But we had fun, lots of laughs, lots of fumbles, and the only critical hits were two from one of the bad guys against the Unchained Monk who was the only actual combatant to make it to the game tonight. The character is five feet tall. Her opponent, a large-sized Undead Warlord wielding a size appropriate greatsword, nearly got the best of her, but some well-timed aid from the Druid got her back on her feet and able to defeat it. Fun times had by all.

No PnP today, but 2/3 NWN events for the weekend done.
TLDR, I'm running a major server plot for the community, with the aid of Scint and a few other DMs as helpers. The crux of the plot involves the dead god of rot and decay apparently coming back to life, but it's actually a scheme by the demon lord of fungi to seize its former divine portfolio by absorbing its last remaining divine spark which is sealed away in a lost elven city.
However, phase 1 of the plot just involves a pair of plagues going on in the two opposite ends of the community server, so the various different groups of PCs have been working on investigating those, trying to find treatments/cures, and tracking down the sources of the plagues - one is a variant Yellow Musk Creeper hybrid that spreads by spores, the other is dealing with a filth demon hiding in the city by possession as its viral agent makes its way through the population.
Friday's group was a team of elves sent to find a Warforged Druid, who can study the plague without being affected by it, and present him with a potent healing artifact that had been recovered in another plot I ran yeeeeeears ago. They'll be assisting him going forward in trying to find a cure.
Tonight's group was hired by the local Lord of the Dale to make their way along a major river and cull the monster populations in the area, to make the area safer for the various investigative crews. Simple hack and slash event, but the group enjoyed it.
Tomorrow's group is set in the city on the other end of the server. There's a cult to the dead god beneath the city, and they'll be sent to investigate its activity and see if there are any clues as to what precisely they're doing or any hints as to their involvement with the plague.

All plans for this weekend got scrapped thanks to everyone catching some kind of flu. I don’t know if it’s another round of what I had at the end of my vacation or something new. But we are all in various stages of yuck.
I know several people who have come down with some sort of flu that apparently isn't tested for very often because they're told they have bronchitis or the like. But if they insist on being tested for a broader spectrum an unplanned for flu variant often showed up in the results.

Hey, gang! What's shakin' this weekend? Dice, maybe?
Our next game is scheduled for June 11th, so I've got time to prep the bad guys for The End of Part One of The Fortune and Glory Campaign©.
*Voice of Morgan Freeman* "In fact, DMCal will fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way until 36 hours and panicking before gametime to do this."

Brother still tested positive yesterday. Thinking I might test myself tomorrow depending on how I feel. Still showing symptoms but not as hard as last week. Cyz went down for about 48 hours taking the anti-virals, awake for an hour here and there, but is now conscious if still feeling it. Unfortunately, our roommate had to go back on shift, as his symptoms have abated. Probably still positive, so good luck to his shiftmates.

I got to see a dear friend after 30 years last week. We had lunch together then she went on to the next stop to surprise her best friend from college. The surprise was on her, though. She went back home with COVID. :(

Quiet weekend. My mom invited us up to her house for Sunday, but I told her that we've had so many full weekends lately that we just want a quiet weekend with nothing planned.
Although my daughter had a friend's birthday party today, and we're going to the museum, tomorrow, but it's been an easy day so far.

I found the Warhammer 40k Killteam book in a charity/thrift shop today, and bought it. However, since I don't want to take out another mortgage, I am thinking hard before deciding whether or not to purchase any of the minis.
It isn't the cheapest of hobbies, is it? Actually I haven't really decided if I'm going to get started either. So far I'm ,ostly just testing the waters and trying my hand at painting.
