The purpose of the Beginner's Box was to make the hurdle for entry lower for new players than the CRB.
I believe that Paizo's hope is to make the P2e CRB more user-friendly, thus eliminating the need for a separate set of simpler rules to ease a rookie's way into the game.
I.e., if they've done their job right, the P2e rulebook and related materials will be the Beginner's Box.

In practice, I suspect you still want a Beginner's Box eventually, just because you can bundle up rules, a map, pawns, dice, etc. An easier to learn core game would mean that the rules would be just a subset of the CRB though, as opposed to what they had to do for the PF1 Beginner's Box.
